I still really wish they hadn't shortened "Countdown to the Destruction of the Galaxy" to "Countdown to Destruction" since that cuts off the very point of what Galaxia's main goal actually was.

Couldn't they have at least tried to render it as "Countdown to Galactic Destruction" to try to still keep the main point?

I love how Toei cares about their home video releases in the US and lets Viz include as many extras as possible, but couldn't care less for emerging markets.
I remember the dubbing studio in charge of a Brazilian Saint Seiya release wanted to include interviews with the voice actors as an extra, but Toei didn't allow them.

I’m a Stephanie Sheh fan, think she’s great as Usagi. Never had a problem with the way she shouts out the attacks but oh my god the way she shouts Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss... it sounds horrible! It doesn’t even sound like her version of Usagi... it’s not good at all.

They're notoriously picky and weird about extras. Apparently it involves a lot of clearance they don't want to be bothered with.

Is the audio that out of sync on the BD/DVD, or did something go wrong when that person uploaded that clip?
The uploader probably de-synced it to avoid copyright infringement from Toei.

The song is actually named "Nagareboshi He", which means "To the Shooting Star".

As for the singing, it's good, but yeah, they don't sound like boys (or even girls pretending to be boys). If they could have deepened their voices a bit, it might have sounded more convincing, but on the other hand, perhaps doing so might have affected their singing, which was probably the worse of two evils, so they may have opted for the less bad choice.

As to whether they sound more like girls in the dub... :haruka: Does it matter?
What I do notice is a big difference between the desperation in their voices, in the Japanese version when they say "kotaete" (answer me) you can really tell they are torn apart from confusion and torment at trying their hardest to find her but getting no response. In the VIZ dub, I'm not getting the same vibes, but apart from that I think they did a pretty well. I'll certainly be adding it to my song library along with the much less faithful "Oh Starry Night"... :rei::twisted:)

That's the part of the song where they pitch their voices in a higher tone, like they wanted to reveal they are actually women in disguise.
But in the English version, they sound like they are women all the time.

Their original voice actresses actually succeeded in matching their voices with their characters' androgynous appearance. Something the Viz dub didn't achieve.
I disagree. I remember watching it for the first time when I was probably 12 years old and I always thought they sounded like women (and Taiki sounded like a woman with a frog in her throat lol). If you want to talk about androgynous, Haruka’s Japanese VA for Sailor Moon Crystal truly succeeded in that. I actually thought they had cast a boy for that role.
