So I've heard that Viz translated Venus's one-time attack in episode 141 as either "Crescent Beam Mirage" or "Crescent Beam Barrage". The latter seems to make more sense to me, but given that I don't have the SuperS DVDs, could someone who actually owns them confirm which one it is?

(It was "Crescent Beam of Anger" in the subs on Hulu, fwiw.)

Wikimoon list the viz dub name as Crescent Beam Mirage but maybe whoever put it up there misheard and it was Barrage?

Idk its like when fans said in the SuperS movie dub Mercury said Mercury...Gas but I’m pretty surr it was Mercury Blast

I have yet to see the episode on the Viz dub so to those that have seen the episode your input would be much appreciated.

That's why I'm asking - I'm trying to fact-check because two different people have edited that WikiMoon article to show the two different names, but I don't own the DVDs to do it myself.

^From the Blu-ray with the SDH dubtitles on (pics are from my camera since I don't have a BD drive on my PC and I don't own the DVDs anymore).

The Japanese dialogue subs on the DVD & Blu-ray have it as Crescent Beam Barrage as well, as also confirmed on Mercurius' thread.

Thank you, NJ_! I appreciate it. :)

Kind of makes me wonder why they changed it between the first subs on Hulu and the ones on the DVDs, but, well, Viz. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hah. Yet another instance of the original dub sticking closer to the Viz dub.

Thanks for the clarification NJ_, the clip was on Youtube a couple of weeks ago, and I couldn't make out the name either.

^I swear to God Viz has some unspoken policy where they can’t do anything the old dub did even if it was correct
I can totally believe that. That's how I felt about the gorilla joke in episode 13.

Granted, the change here isn't terrible or anything. Just strange.

Cool. I wonder why they just didn't call it Crescent Beam Shower? Pretty much the same thing from Sailor R attack.
Because it was actually two different attacks: the Crescent Beam Shower came from above the target, here she's just spamming Crescent Beams.

According to this user on reddit who recently bought the SuperS movie script, Mercury's attack was actually "Mercury Dust," which is......interesting.
Oh snap.

But now I’m curious if the script identifies the Outers by their Japanese names or just their Scout names or the Irwin Doll names or their eventual official Cloverway names.

I suppose since they’re in Scout mode for all of SuperS there is no reason to identify them as anything but I do hope someone can get their hands on the S movie script.
