This whole fiasco has made me sign up.

I can't BELIEVE them. And I can't believe people are supporting them after all this bullshit, either. I almost cursed them out on their Facebook earlier for trying it.

And this is why no one will buy sailor moon anymore if we don't calm now abd think logically. One , Videophiles already messed it up, by just thinking if angry ways to show their hate. If this negative starts going up instead of sending them messages not cursing them up , and sending calming and direct messages we will not haze sailor moon if many continue to act up like many of the fans. Many have shown Viz mistakes on the subs calmly so if we can at least point it up calmly things will be a bit better . Of you just whine and complaint we end up with nothing but if we can do it in a calm way things can be handle . Cursing them out will no help or saying negative things in reviews. We needs to handle this clamly

I checked the Hulu stream, and it's real. Here's a larger, uncropped version: http://i.imgur.com/l3xxtON.jpg

If Viz would simply admit that they screwed up big time with the video, I would be much happier with them. I really would. But the fact that they keep LYING and insisting that THIS is the best Sailor Moon has ever looked is insulting.

I see it. Well it's hard to notice if your not paying attention. Well people should be able to voice even if they are angry but I wonder what is going on here. COuld Toei reallly being a jerk I mean when we look at previous things it seems they give other companies a hard time . I'm went o go to another site and here it is nothing. What if VIz is not lying about Toei? I mean we saw in the past the problems.

Um I said ALMOST cursed them out because they thought they'd try to sass me.

Personally, I don't care if no one buys it, IMO they don't deserve to be purchased. The fact that I have to say that about the first American Sailor Moon release in ten years hurts me.
I DID tell them point blank that Sailor Moon is legendary and my all-time favorite anime title, so I will not be supporting releases or companies which do not treat it OR THE FANS with the proper respect. They were confronted with the video issues calmly on ANNCast, and we basically got "Well, we like it so it doesn't matter" or "consider your [BLEEP]ed-up DVDs a collector's edition, LOL!"

Negative reviews will help because they need to know that people have a problem and what the problem is. You don't GIVE good reviews for a product you don't think is good. I'm particularly glad that respected sites like blu-ray.com slaughtered the set. That way they know it's not just fans nitpicking, these are legitimate concerns.

So you don't care if the DVD is a success at all?

Because if it does fail, that means no more Sailor Moon in the west.

And I think I speak for every western Sailor Moon fan, "We don't want that to happen".

By the way, why is your text orange?

I'm not even in the US and I don't want that to happen, because I do want decently dubbed Sailor Moon that I can own on DVD and Blu-Ray. Excuse me for being so ignorant as to not care if the quality isn't perfect. I'm not a pro, I barely even see much wrong with the video quality. I'm just a fan who'd like to own her favorite anime. So sue me.

Agreed for the most problem the blue rays are blur but it's still decent and many problems aren't noticeable unless u pay close attention

Exactly. I've been waiting many, many years for Sailor Stars, as well as some of these unreleased episodes and specials, to get an official release outside of Japan.

No, the Sailor Moon BluRays and DVDs are NOT perfect. But, honestly, they are also not as bad as the internet is making them out to be. And this is coming from a video/audiophile. The latter especially - no one online ever comments on this, but we've NEVER had Sailor Moon sound this good in the west (mostly in the original Japanese perspective, but the dub sounds great too). If you watch the BluRays and have a good sound system, it sounds fantastic.

I'm going to keep supporting these. I want Viz to keep releasing them. Viz has, in the past, stopped releasing shows that didn't sell to their expectations. Monster and Full Moon wo Sagashite are 2 examples. Do you guys really want them to stop releasing Sailor Moon? We don't know if another western licensor will ever get the rights again. People have been trying for YEARS.

Is the first set really performing that well though? I think it peaked somewhere around 400 in the amazon sales ranking charts. Which for a major release isn't very high.

However that's amazons , places that Viz ad was rightstuf which was very high pre order. In fact Viz stated it was the highest pre order in it's history. We have to accounted for the other sites .

Apparently, "Sailor Moon" is much more expensive than any other TOEI show. Why is it so expensive, though? Why does dubbing "Sailor Moon" cost so much money? Is it TOEI that determines the price and handles the negotiations or is it Naoko? These are questions I've been asking myself.

If there's a recent anime I like, and Funimation licenses it, I think of myself as lucky because Funimation keeps their prices low. For example, I never saw "Psycho-Pass," but I know it is a popular anime by Gen Urobuchi (Madoka), produced by Production I.G, one of Japan's best animation studios, and Funimation/Amazon asks only U$31.49 for a Blu-Ray/DVD combo with four discs, an entire season, 275 minutes in total. It is also a recent release.

I would never pay the price VIZ is asking for the Sailor Moon sets, especially considering their flaws. Again, I am not as much of a "Sailor Moon" fan as most folks here.

I don't think it's Naoko since she as finally say over all but Toei. That might have the show and since they have to go though her they have to raise the prices . Also the simple fact Siakor Moon as never been rerelease . Unlike other shoes like DBZ Siakor moon stopped all together as least in the US

A combination of Toei, licensing and dubbing I imagine.

The license to get Sailor Moon is very expensive, which is why so few companies have money left over to try anything like redubbing. Also dubbing in general tends to be really expensive even for a regular show, and Sailor Moon has additional factors which likely added to the costs. (like the length of the series, having been dubbed before, ect.) And lastly Japanese companies (like Toei) like to charge as much as they can. Unfortunately in Moon's case, they had the perfect excuses to raise the price with things like it being out of print for so long, a new dub, remastering, ect.

Not the best comparison, since those are recent series with not a lot of episodes, and haven't been out-of-print for years like SM has.

This first set is already a failure in my eyes, so...

But as far as commercial performance, I surely do not care. Not if the product is this bad. If it fails, it's Viz's fault for trying to pull one over on people. I have a thing about not buying crap products or falsely advertised products, and this set is both. And if anybody asked me if they should buy it or if it's worth it, they'd get an honest "hell naw."

When the news was first announced, I thought, "Well, Sailor Moon will finally get the proper, respectful release it deserves over here." I was wrong. Screwing up the video of one of the GOAT anime ever and unapologetically releasing defective products is neither proper nor respectful. So yes, I hope Viz either gets it together or they stop disgracing my favorite anime like this. I have bootlegs and fansubs that look better than this. Please.

And my text is orange because I like it to be orange.

Please don't post entirely in different colors. Not only is it annoying to read, it's against forum rules.
