She told the producers of the new musicals they could do whatever they wanted. She let someone else novelize the manga. It's ridiculous to try to insinuate that Naoko is somehow preventing new stories or a Sailor Moon expanded universe from happening. It's not happening because Toei is obviously not interested. It might be nice if Naoko were proactively working on new content, but she's not obligated to do so.
What Toei needs to do is call it quits with the Precure franchise, how many people are going to remember the recent ones for years to come after Sailor Moon is still having an anniversary celebration?

Going off-topic again and back to Seiya...

All hope is now lost on this adaptation being good.

Don't screw up Saintia Sho Gonzo, this might be the only adaptation worth a damn since the CG show & live-action movie are looking terrible.

Why can't the first Yugioh get its own reimagined spin off? I don't like the fact they keep reviving it when its already a closed chapter and for Seto Kaiba to screw the rules again.

That's interesting. I didn't know they did that kind of animation for anime like that. The trailer doesn't look too thrilling but I haven't really seen very much of Saint Seiya...I wonder if Sailor Moon was done like it was in the e 4D attraction would it be well received?
Looks too American. I like the 80's stuff where it took a minimum of 3 episodes to finish a battle with tons and tons of backgrounds without the need to use stock footage of flashbacks used 10 times like Naruto.

^Because it kinda is, the show is handled by all American writers and speaking of them, the one responsible for Shun's gender change spoke up about it.

(long thread)

If it had to be done, I would have preferred it be with Hyoga because there would have been similar heat had it happened with Shiryu and maybe Ikki if their characters are still faithful but as it is right now, Shun was definitely the wrong choice to pull this with.

I don't know how much this reboot is supposed to cover but if there's more on the way, I wonder how they will handle Aphrodite...

Iol looks like he deliberately left out June (who is a Bronze Saint!) of his list of female characters. I don't really get his argument. Adding a new character is too obvious, but genderbinding an existing one isn't?

It brings them money, plus Hugtto Precure!! is actually quite good. Pretty Cure is not as bad as one might assume. It is just missing the darker plot points, but for Toei it is a very successful franchise. Sailor Moon wouldn't have been what it is if they milked it more.

I don't think Precure is bad as a whole, but I feel it's starting to overstay its welcome...

I don't understand why pre cures still running. It's just a bunch of random cutesy magical g anime . That pretend to be part of the big story.
Money, and the Precure cash cow still has lots of milk in its udder. Precure looks more like to me it's trying to be the female/magical girl equivalent of Super Sentai/Power Rangers, but not turning out as well. And I'll admit, at times, compared to Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Wedding Peach, Tokyo Mew Mew, Madoka, Magical Girl Raising Project and the upcoming Saintia Sho and Magical Girl Spec Ops Asuka (I'm reading the manga of both and said anime adaptations will come out soon), they just feel like standard, typical magical girl anime, they all feel so similar in a way mostly (you can even notice how they got lazy when designing the pink Cures for Doki Doki, Princess and Maho Girls, same colored hair style), and some of them even feel to me like copycat clones of better anime that came before. Basically, overall I've mixed feelings on the franchise and think it's alright, but extremely overrated and I have a feeling the recent series (Doki Doki onwards) will age as well as cheese...and none of the All Stars movies after DX3 (first Precure thing I saw in fact), were good from what I've seen of them.

I wonder if the reason Crystal has some Precure voices was to draw in Precure fans, I do really like Ai Maeda's Pluto, but Hisako Kanemoto sounds way too young as Mercury, Ami Kochimizu, while fine as Cure Melody, unfortunately, her voice just doesn't fit with Jupiter, it's difficult to explain, but Jupiter's character and her voice just don't match. Misato Fukuen was great as Cure Happy, but she CANNOT do Chibi Moon, it just sounds like a woman pretending to be a little girl, sounds so forced to make it high pitched, the way she says "Moon Prism Power Make Up/Pink Sugar Heart Attack" just sounds unrecognizable and weird, and those attack/transformation names are the only way it's recognizable as Chibi-Usa. And considering how well the casting/voice acting for Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card turned out with most of the actors returning, most of the actors returning for Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold despite some of them sounding like they've aged, the fact Aya was in both anime, and how I heard Kae Araki returned to star in the newer Digimon anime (not really much of a fan but just pointing it out), and how they got Kotono back, would it have been SO DAMN DIFFICULT for Toei to call in Aya Hisakawa or Emi Shinohara or Kae Araki, or if they couldn't for the former two, maybe some of the actresses from the Sera Myus or maybe even have Chisama Hama and Mew Azama from PGSM voice Mercury and Jupiter? I digress though.

They're going to ruin Saint Seiya... :supercry:

June ended up as a sadly forgotten character. :(

Which countries is Precure popular?

Its never been popular here. I don't see any merchandise here or anyone cosplaying. Rayearth gets more reruns here from time to time.

Pretty Cure is popular in Japan, it is designed specifically to sell toys. Is it too childish - yes, getting tired at this point - for sure, but in Japan it is popular with small kids, BANDAI order more seasons so they can make more plushies and nobody cares it is not popular outside Japan.

The Cure Hate is strong with this group..lol.

As other have said, it makes them money so I mean it would make sense to keep getting those funds. Also, since it is marketed for the youngins, there really isn't a need to have a deep story line. Just throw in some bright colors, bubbly poop songs, lots of screaming and jumping and the kids will love it.

Sailor Moon is a strange gem...able to appeal to the young and old and cross borders and beyond.

Actually, most people will think Sailor Moon when they see anything like Pretty Cure just by the pics alone. Is that the new Sailor Moon? Sailor Moon by default is the magical girl that defines all magical girls. Toei could never dethrone her even if they wanted to.

Sailor Moon has musicals and so much more unlike those other shows.(and did you see those new Sailor Moon bags...you girls get all the nice stuff..lol)
