What if the the Outer Senshi had been in SuperS anime like they were in manga? How do you think it would have changed the SuperS season? How do you do think they would have reacted to the Dead Moon Circus and to Pegasus?

I think it would have ruined the season quite a bit. The season was much too cluttered as it was with all the characters. We don't get much time to explore the stories of anyone but Usagi and ChibiUsa. Can't imagine how much less screen time Mars, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter would have gotten if they had 3 (or 4) others to compete for screen time with.

I would have liked SuperS to stay closer to the manga. I think they really screwed it up. I don't know if I would have liked the Outers in the season they created, but if they would have followed the manga a little more I think it would have been nice to see them because they are my favorite.

Nice sig, marspeach. ;)

In a rare plug for the later seasons of the anime...it does somewhat cover the Supers arc when the Outers appear when they bring Nehelenia back in Stars...blah blah teamwork of the Outers and the Inners since their duties changed (but it was still CRAP because they worked together for ONE EPISODE and then effin' VANISHED for STARS...)

I think that the anime would have been a lot darker, and I would've liked an OVA for the last two seasons especially...the act when Saturn appears, the whole Yume arc takes a turn for the darker, what with Mamoru and Usagi's disease and all. And Nehelenia getting burned to a crisp and the Neo Queen and King...that would've been cool.

I think the Outers didn't have Crystal powers because there was so much focus on the Inners and the Lights in Stars...which was CRAP, again. I like how Pluto and Saturn didn't show up till dagned near the end. And how about the final confrontation with Crow?? I mean...okay...Uranus and Neptune will arrive to stop them from working with Kakyuu, but their princess is sucked into a BLACK HOLE and the most they can say is

"We felt a strange energy"????

New line. PLEASE.

and no sailorkakyuu makes me very sad. the fact that they never addressed her by name and used her in 1.5 episodes doesn't help, either. i can see why Naoko didn't like it.

I think if they kept things more loyal to the manga it'd be a lot better. I still hope for a day where sailormoon will be remade and re-tooled. I really liked the manga and would hope if it were ever possible for them to stay close to the manga. Not to mention I'd love to see more modern animation and music. Not that I hated the previous artwork for the anime, but you could tell when they switched animators and I really hated the style used by one of them. But yea, I think it'd be so much better with the outers in it especially showing how Saturn played a much more important role than she ever did in Stars.

I've never seen SuperS or read the manga but from what I've heard the general trend (in all manga/anime) is that the closer they saty true to the manga material the better the anime series. Look at Bleach, for example.

Or, if you're going to stray, stray radically. Take PGSM...it was good in its own way in some plot points, because it was obvious they'd abandoned the manga vehicle.

Not everyone reads manga. I think more people watch anime (but that's just a guess). Also, if I were the creator of a manga, I'd want the anime to present my original vision - or at least a creator-directed adaption of it. PGSM took some cues from the other story arcs/anime seasons and integrated them into the Dark Kingdom arc (like Sailor Luna looking like ChibiUsa, or the Sailor Star Tamborines, or Usagi's heart transformation locket from S, etc)

I'm glad the anime is different instead of just a remake. If the anime is the same, then what's the point of having a manga at all when the anime is higher tech?
It's a different visual medium altogether; one doesn't supersede the other.

I totally agree with this statement. The anime, manga and live action are like the holy trinity. 3 tellings of a great story and great characters just different enough to make them interesting and non repetitive and just similar enough so that they all still have that special something that makes them great.

@ vcheng: In Japan more people read manga, apparently anime is taboo for teenagers or adults, but manga is a-ok. Here more people watch anime. Hmm, I am planning a comic. My conditions are special. My comic is written to continue into a video game. If there was a TV adaptation, it would have to be the same for that reason.

@ aDam: thank you! :)

@ Everyone: I really loved SuperS. I can't explain what exactly I like but I do. I like all the seasons for different reasons but I can't pick a favorite or a least favorite. I know SuperS was not my least favorite, and I think that one even had the best filler. The ending was awesome too, where Nehellenia drifts off in the mirror.

I really liked the monster of the weeks and SuperS as well as the ChibiUsa development. I think they dropped the ball on ChibiUsa in Stars.
It was too much Chibi Usa for me. I liked her in S but I was sick and tired of her all the time in SuperS. I did not miss her in Stars.

Where is the love for the myu?

The musicals are my favorite incarnation of the series, to be honest.

But, to stick to the main topic, if the Outers had been in SuperS, it would have been plain weird. I'm talking about the story the anime followed. They would have been out of place, in my opinion. Then again, I'm not that big of a fan of them in the anime anyway.
