I think the person in the Gorilla Face was actually a person disguised as Jupiter because the Jupiter that was shown in the classroom scene (where Moon looks around at both sides of her table) was shown to be shades darker.

I’m pretty sure the concept of the other girls being Princesses as well as Beryl being after the jewels of powers (ala Galaxia and the star seeds) happened before Miss Takeuchi wrote Dreams and Stars so it was either a hell of a coincidence or she knew of it and took inspiration from it.

We at least know DiC received materials for Toonmaker Moon (likely from Toei or Kodansha) as their logo, Darien’s name, the girls being Princesses and Princess Serena and Prince Darien being engaged all came from Toonmakers concept.

That is sort of wild! It does seem like quite the coincidence...

I have always wondered about the logo and names. Did Bandai/Toei just create an international logo and names for them all to use? It seems strange that DiC would just steal the logo from ToonMakers so either ToonMakers/DiC had an agreement or it was sent from Toei/Bandai. That being said though, I seem to remember European merchandise releases using an entirely different logo.

It’s also mysterious that DiC decided to keep the whole ‘Prince Darien’ thing that was present in the ToonMakers script...
