I'm only allowed 3 choices? NO FAIR!
The only form of these I am completely unfamiliar with is Miss Dream because I'm not a musical fan.
Of these forms, the only form I dislike is the Eternal form. I just don't like that uniform.
Super Sailor Saturn, in comparison to the other Super forms, is interesting in one aspect. It standardizes her uniform so that it is more like the others. Whereas for the other girls, it is more of the same, for Sailor Saturn, her Super form is more unique.
I think Princess Saturn is awesome and I love ALL the princess forms. It's just that in comparison to her other forms...it doesn't compare.
I like regular girl Hotaru and I am glad she could live a normal life...but I just love tortured Cyborg Hotaru so much more. A Jinzoningen in Sailor Moon is easily the most awesome thing, given that the vast majority of Sailors are either pure humans or humanoid aliens so close to human that it doesn't matter. And unlike a Kikaider or Android 18...being an "artificial" person just stinks for Hotaru. Aside from being possessed, her physical difference leads to her having no friends and is exactly the type of girl who in other circumstances, would have been bullied by the popular kids or even our heroes in a more cynical AU. I am so glad that Crystal followed the original manga and made this explicit, instead of dancing around this aspect like the old anime did. I only wish this had been fleshed out some more in both.
Mistress 9, though, is even more awesome. Although I like both the old anime and new anime versions, what I love most about her old anime self is how twisted she is. She poses as sweet innocent Hotaru to trick Sailor Moon into giving her the Holy Grail....something that almost worked. In fact, she did ultimately use Sailor Moon's optimism against her by getting her to give up the chalice. She cares nothing about anyone. She is completely heartless whose only weakness is using a vessel who happened to be soldier of destruction.
That she killed Kaolinite out of pure spite was also a moment to show that she needed no handlers or any subordinates. She was irredeemably evil and just happened to share the same body as a pure-hearted girl. There was no conflict or appeal to inner goodness that would work.
Plus, visually, she is pretty, and truly classy with her pearls.
But as much as I love Cyborg Hotaru and Mistress 9...I just love, love, LOVE Sailor Saturn in every version.
She is the harbinger of doom, the severe soldier who much always walk alone and can never be trusted. She is always seen as wrong, as something to be dreaded. She is, as she puts it, the uninvited guest. She is unwelcomed, unloved, and unlike with the outers, she can never be brought into the magical group of friendship. Even when Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon stick their necks out for Hotaru, Sailor Saturn's fate as a guardian is to destroy and die. She doesn't get a happy ending, at least as Sailor Saturn, as she is tethered her duty as an agent of destruction. Yes, she is mean and prickly; she is not Hotaru. She is death incarnate, the hero who in most other tales would have sacrificed his or her life for no glory, and who only came back because she is also the soldier of rebirth.
And her uniform, with the purple and dark red, with the heart crystal-like structure, and most of all the Silence Glaive, essentially a reaper's scythe, just completes her role with visual aplomb. There is no uncertainty, only fate.
