When Queen Beryal put Jadeite in a frozen "sleep" did he really die or was he just frozen?

I don't know myself. I'm thinking for this version of Sailor Moon I'm doing, he later towards the end gets unfrozen as a last resort or something...

He was basically frozen. In fact it is a common fanfic plot for Jadeite to get free and usually attack the Senshi. Another character like this is Eudial. Sure she drove off a cliff into the water but that dosen't sound like something that would kill a strong warrior like Eudial so it is possible she survived this attack. Also Queen Metalia basically gave Queen Beryl power in the end of Classic to become Super Beryl but then departs so it is possible she is still around. Also by extension Mimete was basically trapped in the cyber world of that machine of Eudial's she used so it is possible she is around in a kind of cyber limbo. Also in the end of Sailor Stars Chaos is basically released into the universe again so she will most likely make an appearance again.

I think he died and it was just a fancy way to say it. Other possibilities were that the writers at the time weren't sureif they want to kill him off and decided on ambiguous term. He never came back so he died.

the dark kingdom totally devastated so even if he's frozen, he wouldn't make it to come back to attack senshi again

i recall i discussed that with one of the forum members (cannot recall who) and this reply satisfied me.

They probably weren't sure which direction the series was gonna go, so I guess they wanted to give Jadeite an ambiguous fate. That why, they could've brought him back. If I remember correctly, the whole idea of him being "frozen" was suppose to be even more terrifying than death. The bigger question is, since the Dark Kingdom was destroyed, was Jadeite as well? Or is he still floating around somewhere?

Likewise for Mimete, though I assume the machine she's trapped in was destroyed, and thus she's dead.

'Twould have made sense for Beryl to have kept Jadeite's frozen self nearby so as to keep an eye on him, like a trophy or something. That in mind, The Silver Crystal later annihilated the entire surrounding area of the Dark Kingdom and all within it, so he likely got swallowed up by that explosion along with everything and everyone else within the vicinity.

Didn't time get turned back or something with the silver crystal defeating Beryl? Or is that a fan theory?
It is a theory that some fans use to explain the messed up timeline, but it is not true. If you watch episode 48 u will see the entrance ceremony at school and usagi moved a grade. Even I considered it for a long time until I rewatched this episode.

Yeah, let's not bring up that old "time went back a year" fan theory. It doesn't work at all since Episode 1 of the series took place after April 1 while Episodes 47-51 all took place before April, and yet characters who didn't appear in Juban until Autumn of Season 1 (e.g. - Makoto, Minako, Yuichiro, etc.) were already around during the Makaiju episodes all set in Spring, and side characters in those episodes behave in ways that only make sense for time to have not been reversed (e.g. - Umino liking Naru instead of Usagi, Naru being nicer to Umino instead of treating him like a creep, etc.), among many other things.

Plus the characters have memories of all of the stuff that happened in Classic. Naru for instance still remembers Nephrite. In a stage play in Sailor Moon R these people recreated the scene where Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars fought Jadeite. Plus if this was true that would mean all of the good that the Sailor Senshi did in Classic was erased which would be terrible. The best explanation is that the series has a floating timeline a la Marvel or DC.

Keep in mind that the PC engine game happens between Makaiju arc and Black Moon arc and brings back shitennou and Beryl to adress some of the manga plot points.

There have been many theories about that Jaedite broke out of the frozen crystal in the future and became Wiseman. In the original dub, some people believed that they could be the same person as they were voiced by the same guy too.

Yeah I highly doubt that is true especially since Wiseman is supposed to be an incarnation of Chaos.

Personally, I have never believed it myself. Mainly for that reason. And while it is true that Chaos incarnations were said in the manga and not the anime, I still like to believe that they did exist in the anime though.
