I think Naoko gets blame from what I see people saying is because she has a history of being difficult with certain aspects of the series. I don't know this myself but who knows for sure. I do know someone post d something in an interview where Naoko said she had arguments and stuff with Toei over Sailor Moon about things.. I do tknow who posted or which thread it was in but I remember seeing it.

I don't think it's her but I mean I don't know it for sure. It could be too??

Love Crystal or Hate Crystal, don't let yourself affected by other people's thoughts.
I couldn't believed that there was a time I got tired of season 1 and 2, after reading reviews of Sailor Moon experts (they should have done this and shouldn't have done that, etc..) . I'm just an average anime viewer. I just want to see beautiful pages of manga being adapted in anime. That's all.

I wonder: do we as fans have no power to make some pressure on twitter and social media?
I don't think they are reachable, sadly. As failure as he was as director of Crystal, Munehisa Sakai shared a lot on his tweeter before it started. I have heard Ysuharu Takanashi shared stuff with Facebook members before, but we don't even know whether he is involved or not. So far we know just who is directing it Chiaki Kon and Kazuko Tadano as designer. Everything else is still a mystery. I think we should wait till June 30th before plunge in despair. At least we are getting Fruits Basket, which is quite promising and will make the wait bearable. But if this June 30th comes and goes without solid proof of these films happening, I am done with Crystal.

They have the Legendary Money after all...
J/K.
I still remember the day they announced SMC4 to be a movie. I swear 99% of the answer was OBJECTION. That was the day every one in the fandom shared the same opinion.
And you know, they still made it a movie.

Honestly, the fact Crystal discussions always boil down to the following topics:
1) When’s the next one?
2) How did Toei screw this up?
3) Animation quality

Just speaks to Crystal’s lack of merit as the newest addition to the franchise. The fact it’s based on the manga which, even with its own failings in storytelling, has spun countless theories and headcanons sometimes from even a single tiny frame drawn by Naoko... Yet any additions to the story Crystal introduced have been completely discarded by the fandom and the creative team.

Like there’s more ppl creating headcanons and playing with the meta of the DiC dub at this point.

So right now, I could care less if they’re silently cancelling Crystal (even though I don’t think it’s likely). Maybe it’s a good thing if down the line it means a better reboot that’s less shackled to the manga will come much quicker.

The problem isn't even necessarily that Crystal was "shackled to the manga," it's that it was shackled to the 1:1 adaptation ratio. Splitting the first chapter of Infinity into two parts did wonders for Season III's initial momentum. Not that every episode needed to be a two-parter, but if they'd been willing to adapt the denser chapters into more than one episode, the show wouldn't have turned into such a mess. For example, if they'd done Act 10: Moon as a 3-parter (Part 1: The Inners and cats go to the moon, free the sword, and unleash Queen Serenity; Part 2: Queen Serenity tells them the whole story of the Moon Kingdom, we see some of the SenxShi's history; Part 3: The Inners and cats return to Earth; meanwhile, the Four Kings remember their past lives and more about their reincarnated lives before Beryl found them) think of the wonders that would have done for the show's world-building?

^ But that takes more than just spliting the chapters apart. They need introduce content in order to pad the episodes and make watching them more worthwile. That takes creativity and the willingness to not be bound by the manga, which Crystal refuses to do.

As much as the two parter in Season 3 was great it didn’t really introduce anything new that wasn’t technically already there in the manga. They had to split it up in order to adapt such a long chapter.

That splitting of the two chapters of Infinity would hav always happened, simply because the chaprer is doubled. As controversial and bad Crystal has been most of the time, this is the only new thing we have, so it is normall for people to want it finish what it started. Im tired of the 90s show. I have seen it at least 5 times, I have read the manga at least 3 times. The misicals and life action doesnt work for me as I find actual people playing these characters awkward. So I find it normal for people to expect them to finish it. It has been a long wait too long to wait with cancelation. If they canvel it however i hope chiaki kon name asdirector is ruined for life so she can go back to deen to direct lolifest for the rest of her life.Gosh it is so immature and i dont even feel embarassed.

Yeah, this is exactly how I feel, though keep in mind that some people like Crystal for what it is (not me though), and while I would love to get a new reboot as soon as possible, Crystal fans don't deserve a silent cancellation. It would be terrible to wait for something they'll never get. In fact, they don't deserve any sort of cancellation after such a long wait for some news.

But what Crystal shoul've done (or rather, what I would personally have liked to see in Crystal), is to look back at every version (manga, 90's anime, PGSM, musicals, etc.), learn from the mistakes all those versions made and take into account what was done right with each one of them. This way, Crystal coul've been the best SM incarnation to date, or not necessarily the best, but one that is good on it's own and doesn't need to be defended with stuff like "it was like that in the manga" or "you haven't read the manga, then". That's what I would like if Sailor Moon gets another anime reboot in the far future (I'd like to say "in the near future" instead, but I don't see that happening).

Totally right. The problem is/was the ratio 1:1. Some chapters are long some not. Some parts needed to be more explored some not. This ratio for me has killed most of the pacing of Crystal and feel the all episodes pacing rushed. Remember that the manga was a monthly production and was printed in // with the anime so in the 90’s the characters development was made through the anime and was not really needed in the manga. Crystal could have totally respect the manga AND STILL develop the story (eg Dragonball is basically a strict adaptation of the manga adding some fillers plots)

Of course it’s unfair to Crystal fans. But these passionate fans are far and few between. Most of the fanbase has seemingly moved on with their lives, otherwise this forum would be filled with waaaaay more angry people.

The worst part is Crystal didn't even need fillers... Just expansion of canonical plot points and it could have been done in 13 episodes per arc if instead of unnecessary recaps and full transformations, as well as dragging episodes just to correspond with manga acts, they spend time where they needed to, instead of padding. We really didn't need acts 13 and 14 to be two episodes and the half-episode of transformation in episode 11. But still as we continued and supported the franchise we deserve this films. We never asked for films, they put the bar higher so it is up to them to deliver.

Yeah totally agreed. Why did they even bother to add the stupid love stories between the inners and the generals if they knew at the end that they would have 0 minute to speak about it...
That’s very sad that Crystal got so much bad publicity because of this stupid kind of mistakes in the first season. Mixed with the terrible idea to a low budget web anime....

It’s so frustrating because they had so MUCH TIME to prepare for it... like years between the project announcement and the Crystal anime but still start the production like 2 weeks before the web airing.... (ok lol maybe few monthes)

The 2 and 3rd were such an improvement... anyway Lets keep in mind the 30th of June... but to be honest I don’t expect anything anymore... for me sounds like the project is dead or will take a new direction.... hopefully a new season... for me the 2 parts movies can only be as problematic as the pacing of the first season...

Can we talk about this moment when SMC teased us with it's potential/with what the show could have been? As far as I know, this human Luna moment is not from the manga and it was maybe the best original addition of the entire series.

It will only open more plotholes once human forms of the cats are revealed. So Artemis couldn't recognize her human form...

^Proof that there wouldn't be a second adaptation of it (thank goodness).
