The director is a huge fan of the ‘90s anime.

Anyway, it’s just more realistic to expect the designs to look a little bit more like the ‘90s anime, than for them to resemble... Yukie Sako’s?? How does that remotely make sense?
It's me or she just did well with old attacks from 90's anime??? When it come to the new ones (Jupiter Coconut Cyclone, Submarine Reflection), everything seems weird.

When I saw this commercial, I even thought it was the optimum choice for changing the design.

@imaginationgirl: I thought she implied that it would be somehow alike the old anime?

While a big improvment over the third season, it is still a bit too frogish for my taste Ami and Minako are quite off. And Usagi and Minako's faces are copy paste minus eye color and nose. I remember there was another piece of artwork from this colab thay was printed on pillows, Usagi hold a bat and it looked much better. It was much closer to the Halloween character art and I love it It is still moe and cute, but eyes are done better, mouth is not as wide and it looks pretty!:

And my personal wish is if they go the 90s route to make it like the ISETAN artwork which really gives me the right feel

EDIT: I knew it was the same collab. Here they are. These are very cute, without looking derpy:

I didn't know the girls were Giants fans...

Can anyone tell me what the 5 day countdown posted on Sailor Moon 25th’s Twitter page is counting down to?
The Heisei era's ending soon and they're getting a new Emperor.

Guys, sorry for the off topic, but I just saw the two parter film for Haikara-san.I have read the manga and they covered it all in 2 films 115 minutes each. While some stuff got cut it was surprisingly faithful to the source. So I have more hope for good adaptation in movie format now.

^They will still need to recap the rest of the show...or at least redo the final scene from season 3's finale.

Are you expecting right things from Toei?
It's Chiaki Kon's fault not to let the animators fix their frames for the bluray.

If all of them are like that image, I would have no objection.
Look at Ami, Mako, Mina, Haruka, Michiru and Usagi's hair. All of them are stunning.
And those dresses!!! They look so real!!!

Yes, they key visual was fine, but the a bit too wide mouth on Usagi always gave me the wrong vibe, and poor Chibs look like a bug.

You remind me that I need to get round to translating episode 2 of the anime version. But the Taisho era Japanese is REALLY ghetto and makes it hard to understand. Shame that it had to have a fudged ending.

But yes the film adaptation of Haikara is good with solid animation but I worry that Toei can live up to that standard...not to mention a new Shinkai film is due soon (Your Name director)...now the animation there was on another level..

A wide grin of Usagi couldn't destroy a product worse than anything SMC III has done.
I don't understand why they changed this frame. Look at her lips.
In episode 06.

And in the flashback scene, episode 07.

I cannot see any difference, just some dissaturration, which turned her upper lip less visible
