It seems that posting on that section now requires pre-approval (have just approved your post, BTW) - that's not set by me, tho, & I normally don't meddle w/ forum system settings anyway.

I dunno. While Krillin's torture session with Freeza was edited considerably, Nicktoons might only take out Nephrite's blood or see that DiC was fine with it and take the chance if they know the circumstances. It's hazy at best with their often on and off censorship (nobody gets strangled excepted Tenshinhan by #17 and the news reporter by Cell). Then again, censorship tends to be inconsistent in the strange world of entertainment.

Funimation WAS rather inconsistent with editing. They couldn't even decide whether or not to censor out mentions of death and, in spite of recoloring non-red blood to skin color throughout the series, Cell's blood wasn't censored when he was taking damage from Gohan. It was still purple and it very much contrasted with the skin around it.

Yeah, those Nephrite's death would be hard to edit. At the very least, they'd edit the part where he's pierced. Although, I saw Nephrite's death in DiC's dub before I entered sixth grade and it barely had an effect on me then since I was aware of death then. If I, an kid with asperger syndrome, could handle it then, I see no reason why others couldn't.

Honestly, if soccer moms believe their precious little angels (at age 10 or so) will be traumatized, why don't they ask their kids if what they saw bothered them and how? Is it so hard for them to act rationally?

I think it's mostly the impaling part that would get the censors in an uproar. Dying characters, nowadays and Y7, seems no problem.

Yeah, the piercing part would be edited but it'd be clear on what happened with the spears going through him. The blood as well. Still I don't get why DiC didn't censor it.

Ironically, I can't imagine the Senshi deaths would even be censored since they're bloodless and not at all gruesome.

Yeah, they're Disney Deaths and they come back to life so that's even better.

Wouldn't them dying get viewers to see Part 2? If I saw an episode where four of the heroes died, I'd be hooked to see Part 2 for any resolution.

Oh most definitely, but you need to think of it from the viewpoint of an overprotective parent or young kid. An overprotective parent would be greatly disturbed by it, and not realizing that they come back next week would cause a huge fuss over it. What's even worse, depending on the age and type of kid who saw it, they could possibly be equally upset, which would only give said parent more fuel for their case. Then again you never know though; and even if Dic had left it in I'm sure they would have done something to tone it down or something. What I said is just one of the many possibilities of what might have happened had it been left in tact.

Make it a double episode feature the first airing in that case if possible?

The problem is the parents freaking out probably wouldn't bother to watch both episodes first. :P

Well, DiC could merely imply that they were dead or they just passed out. It's no worse than Nephrite reforming and dying a graphic death.
