Did anyone cry when mercury,mars,jupiter and venus died at the end of season 1?i did i bawled my eyes out.

Not one tear.

No one. I'm desensitized to these type of things.

Lost it when Rei died, and I don't even like her anime counterpart.

Same here. My vote was for Mars.

The only time I ever cried was when Nephrite died.

Mars was certainly the most dramatic of the first season deaths considering her strange relationship with Serena and the way it was handled. I did not cry unfortunately because I watched the english version first which was horribly watered down. Years later I saw the original but i already knew what was going on so it didn't work as well.

I did however get pretty close to crying during the outer senshi deaths in season 5, specifically Uranus and Neptune. Plutos and Saturns were sad considering how they died but too quick and actiony to have an emotional impact. It was like in the seventh season of buffy when Joss killed off Emma Caulfield's character "Anya" it was just a quick brutal slice before moving on, where as Spikes was this drawn out, sad music, touching moment with dialogue.

Uranus and Neptune had that and during their final moments and it let all of what happened really sink in: killing their best friend, killing their adoptive daughter, betraying them in a way they couldn't understand or foresee. Toying with their princesses emotions, nearly driving her insane all for the small chance that a surprise attack might finish Galaxia. Watching them reach out to each other in their final moments just to feel each other one last time was absolutely amazing, considering they were the only real couple developed since season 1 (minus Serena and Darien/Seiya)

All four deaths are emotional, but Mars's takes the cake for sure.

There's only three characters who have died I've ever shed a tear over, and none of them were from Sailor Moon

the only death thay made me cry was haruka and michiru... murcury is my 2nd choice.

I didn't cry, but i voted for Venus's death. There was just something about seeing her entangled in those vines.

mars by far had the sadist death out of all of them.

but what really made me cry was the deaths of the Guardian Senshis get their star seeds taken in ep 196

Queen Beryl. It wasn't her fault she fell in love with Tuxedo Mask. And when a girl sees her beloved one is cheating on her with another girl, what options does she have but destroying the world? Instead of inviting her to sit down and discuss their love triangle calmly, those bastards of Mamoru and Usagi just brutally murdered her.

I remember Jupiter's death the most for some reason. But I didn't cry. Which if I was going to cry with Sailor Moon it probably would have been the 1st season.
Zoisite got to me more. I think I sniffled for that one.

He wasn't cheating on her because he was never in a realtionship with her/never loved her. He loved Serenity. So there never was a love triangle. She was secretly in love with him and got crushed.

I doubt your logic would make her feel any better if you explained all of that to her.

Didn't really cry much over the series, not even when I first watched it, though Zoicite's death was pretty "awww" in a touching moment way. It was a side of him that we only got to see for that moment aside from the 2D cliche villain out to steal rainbow crystals. Yea they showed him in other scenes with Kunzite, but his death scene just really let us peek into another side of him that was, unfortunately, gone in the next few seconds

I think what ruined the senshi "deaths" for me was the fact I knew it was an idealistic show and there was 0% gain in keeping them dead (on the production side). Try as I might, I cannot help but think like this, for any series really lol. This is why villains such as Nephrite and Zoicite hit people a bit more emotionally, than say, Jedite, who we never really saw another side of in the anime. When he died, I was just like..meh. Lol. Nephrite and Zoicite I felt bad for. Kunzite's seemed rushed, so it was also meh.

Mars and Jupiter, mostly because they died the last and first, respectively.

They were all painful to watch. It was one of the most moving parts of the entire franchise for me. Manga, Musicals, Live Action, the whole thing. I'm actually really hoping they do the finale of season one for the new series. It was just THAT great for me.

I'm sort of torn between Makoto and Rei, though.

Mars has always been my favorite of the senshi but I believe Makoto's death was very touching followed by Rei's.
I think it's the interaction between her and Usagi during that scene where she reaches out for Makoto's body enclosed within the ice.

I can't blame you. Don't get me wrong, I love the manga, but the Anime's "the senshi are brutally killed one by one before Usagi's eyes" was a lot better and more powerful than "The senshi give up their pens and die all at once while Usagi is unconscious"

I agree. It was one of the times the anime did something better than the manga. It would be nice if they could make Pluto's death as heart wrenching in the new anime.

I didn't find Pluto's death all that heart wrenching in either continuity. I mean, in the manga, she died after we had just met her. I was just kinda like, "Why the hell is Naoko killing her? Isn't she a staple in later plot lines? Confusion?" and in the anime her death just kinda felt pulled from the ass.

I disagree. Pluto's death is sad not because we know her as a character, but because we know that Chibiusa and Pluto love each other dearly. It's what converts Wicked/Black Lady back into Small Lady. If animated and told properly this could be a very powerful scene.

Yeah, I guess it could have been more powerful for me if I actually got to see that relationship built a little more. For me it just felt like the story was saying "Puu is Chibiusa's only friend and she used to go to her with all her problems. Now she's gonna die. Are you crying yet?" Basically I wish the interval between us meeting her and her death were longer. That way we could see a little bit more real time interaction with Puu and Chibiusa.
