I found out in a very peculiar way...

On July 6th I was babysitting my friend's 5 year old who I've made a Sailor Moon fan and she wanted to hear some of the songs so I was playing them on YouTube. After one of the songs played she saw a preview for a "related" clip from PGSM of Princess Sailor Moon going all crazy, and insisted we watch that. After staring totally engrossed and gape-jawed at 5 minutes of fabulous Japanese melodrama she turned to me and asked, "Were they speaking Spanish?" "No dear, that was a completely different language called Japanese." "Ohh... well next can we watch something where they talk regular?" So we started watching some of the S dub, and I sat there thinking, "Wow, these voices are so bad. Wow, they are so NOT cousins entering a "friendship competition" purely as a practical joke... And yikes- even if I were watching this uncut and subbed poor SM's animation is really starting to look so dated compared to the gorgeous shiny eye circuses of most anime coming out today."

A few days later I remembered having noticed other previews on Youtube called "Sailor Moon 2012 trailer!" and such that were obviously fan-made live-action shorts or mash-ups and edits of existing SM footage, but after feeling so disheartened watching English dubbage with a child tragically too young to read subtitles and having had the thought that SM really deserved a remake if much more recent titles like Full Metal Alchemist and Kanon already had them I started digging around. Nothing popped up on quick dig through Youtube, but I popped over to good old Genvid, where I rode out the original run of PGSM discussing the moral ambiguity of Koike Rina putting out "Idol" DVDs and making cheeky sprite edits mocking other people's unfathomable attraction to Shibue ( ) and lo and behold my "moonie sense" hadn't been tingling just out of wishful thinking! I'm so excited for a year of tortured waiting and then hopefully a good 5 years or more obsessing with the crazy lot of you as the new anime gets released!

For those of you that followed the original run of PGSM despite being well over the age of the target demographic- do you also have a strange feeling that it's so much more appropriate for you to be even more excited about this pending cartoon's release despite being 9 years older when it gets released than you were back in 2004? I'm telling myself it's not that weird because it means my little 5 year old friend and my future unborn children might have a much more stomach-able English language Sailor Moon to enjoy before they can read at a 6th grade level... But really I'm pretty stoked just for my own enjoyment!

I know how you feel. I very much hope that the new anime will be much more mature and consistant then the original as I want it to be able to properly deal with the issues and plots that come up without copping out and being stupid. But at the same time I hope that it doesn't become 'mature' in a tasteless way that makes it unwatchable for the original target audience, if I end up having a daughter I want to be comfortable watching it with her.

I actually didn't even know the event was happening I had caught MoonKitty's tweets talking about an event but I never read into what it was, I dunno why.

The day of though, I woke up, checking through Twitter (I'm one of those freaks that goes all the way back to their last tweet and seeing what happened since) and saw multiple tweets from Brad, started reading them, and he was talking about the event, and I caught 'new anime', which REALLY got my attention, so I paid attention to every tweet he sent out and/or retweeted xD

I first saw Moonsticks's Facebook status update and then I came here to verify it.

I'm in a Facebook group called Sailor Moon Fans for FUNImation Redubbing. I heard the news on there and I was excited too, and someone wanted to cry because it's happening.

I found out via Facebook, when Sailor Moon Uncensored made a status update about it. It seemed too good to be true at the time, so I felt impelled to verify from other sources.

I went to check AnimeNewsNetwork as usual. I knew SOMETHING involving Sailor Moon was announced earlier that morning because of the NicoNico stream, but I was only expecting maybe a movie, special, or OVA, then I saw the article.

I found out via 4chan post on /a/. Then checked here in a thread.

I woke up early that morning (7am?) after getting home late from the strippers at like 3:30am. Checked Miss Dream's twitter feed to see what was going on because I knew they would be translating the important stuff. Not much, so jumped in the shower, as I stepped out I grabbed my iPod touch and checked again, and saw the announcement! I was so excited but all I could do was tell my cats.

Here... about a week after it popped up I decided to check what's red in the global section

Anime forum on dvdtalk, which linked to the ANN article. Then I ran over here to make 100% sure this was no cruel joke (my fragile little mind couldn't take it).

IGN.com even though most of their game reviews suck, i had to give them kudos on the news.

I checked these forums that morning to see if anything worthwhile got announced. I actually had to go and rinse my face off with cold water to make sure I wasn't dreaming or seeing things after I saw the "New anime announced" title for the thread.

I found out about it here, then I went to facebook to post the big news.

5 hours after the announcement, I was on deviantART, bored stiff, and I randomly decided to search "Sailor Moon" for most popular submissions of the past few days. And one of the first images I clicked on was one of Serenity and Endymion - not a genius piece but nicely colored nonetheless. So I was curious to see what else the artist had cooking in her gallery... and then I saw her journal. And I freaked . Yeah, I was very happy I decided to search for Sailor Moon at that exact moment . Thank you, synchronicity dearest.

I found out from a news post on Crunchyroll. Ultimately this discovery forced me to return to the forum whether I liked it or not. I want to experience the anime with the rest of the fandom when it happens. Therefore I have to finish the 1992 anime as soon as possible, or at least before the end of the year.

Don't worry, man. With enough willpower, it can be done. I myself completed the entire anime (subbed AND dubbed), manga (plus Sailor V), and PGSM within only three months back in 2009.
