Korean Dub Fun! (Picture Heavy)

Maybe we will get lucky lucky since the korean might have helped out the US fans with a few of sailor stars problems like the nudity so hopefully toei sees this and gives funimation the license for sailor moon

They probably thought it would still be a hit with the kids and the could cash in on it. Similar to the promotion video for the NA Sailor Moon they said SM popularity world wide was huge. So why not try to cash in on it.

Well, the trivia on that page is wrong, since Ami's birthday is September 10th, not the 11th.

I'm guessing the Korean law only applies to female nudity? The Korean dub of Dragon Ball GT didn't have any issues showing Goku's manhood.

The Korean dub also edits out kissing. Infact the final scene with Mamoru and Usagi just ends with they *about* to kiss. Then it just freeze frames and goes to the ending credits. (They actually made a cool clipshow with the full Korean theme)

They really edit ALL scenes of Rei in her Miko robes, and of the Hikawa shrine?! Is that even... possible? Seriously that nuts.

...HOW do they edit miko scenes? Just changing the robes?

They cut them out. Simple as that. Rei's introduction never aired. Sometimes they'll just replace the scene.

In episode 46 the flashback of Rei talking about Yuichirou (during the battle) was replaced with a shot of Mamoru and Usagi (from the end of the episode). After everyone is revived the scene where Usagi runs pass Rei sweeping was cut.

I'm surprised Korea didn't just make another shoddy knock-off of the series - they've done that many years with mecha series. (See Joseph Lai's business in animation for an example.) Maybe it was cheaper/easier to get Sailor Moon, but man oh man. With so much work they put into messing it up, they might as well have maid an entirely new series!

Yes, that's the whole reason for why they've made so many ripoff anime shows - starting with Robot Taekwon V, really. I just figured they're have made their own Sailor Moon.

Yeah, it's a long, dark, & bitter colonial history for the Koreans, as Japan simply annexed Korea, rather than keeping it as a nominally independant vessel state like China did.

Didn't Robot Taekwon V pretty much invent the "Motion Capture Mecha" concept, anyways, before Daimos? Imagine that, a Mazinger Z ripoff making something of itself.

It makes me sad how awful that image quality is for the korean version of the show D: (unless it's just a bad vhs rip?)

So it could also be due to bad reception of TV signals.

There was a user on Youtube who had uploaded a lot of Korean episodes. They were unfortunately taken down a while back because of copyright. I've been looking around for them too, but I think they've disappeared from the internet.

I hope someone reuploads them somewhere, because the amount and manner of edits made in those episodes was pretty hilarious.
