I couldn't believe how many episodes were cut in the Korean dub. Just google "Wikimoon Omitted Korean Dub" for a few examples. Although Wikimoon itself has more info about omitted episodes.

And to think that the Korean dub has all 5 seasons too. That equals to an average of 31 eps per season. Compare that to the English dub. That has 159 episodes and only 4 seasons, which results with 39 episodes per season on average. That means only 41 episodes (1/5 or 20% of all episodes) were cut. In my opinion, I think the Korean dub blows the English out of the water big time when it comes to editing and cutting out episodes.

This thread being bumped just reminded me. I think this must happen with most of the anime imported over there. I saw the Korean dub of another show, Kaitou Saint Tail, which is probably one of the least sexualized magical girl anime series out there - I guess it got pretty popular, but they censored everything in the exact same way, liking totally blanking the Japanese signs and stuff.

I'm pretty sure that's due to Korean attitudes toward Japan. Since Japan brutally ruled Korea for 35 years under imperialist expansion, their relations aren't exactly friendly. But for some reason Korea will still buy the rights to anime series and make them... not Japanese as possible?

Yeah...but it leaves holes in the plot.

Was there ever a reason given why the Trio were removed entirely from the Korean version of the show? I'm guessing it was due to Fisheye, but if that's the case then they could have done what the US did and make him a girl.

-_-;; Now I know why the Japanese and Korean students never got along at my boarding school.... the Japanese student Sho Shinoya, hit the Korean student, Han Myung Sung over the head with a microwave plate (a glass one, mind you)... O_O I didn't know it was this bad.

Most of it was to eliminate anything Japanese or "inappropriate".
