would have Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Neptune (the two feminine ones) searching the Io Castle for Jupiter’s Legendary Weapon, the Seiryuu Sword (a dragon-themed sword that can generate electricity from its blade) and their fight against the tactical-minded Shadow Pulsar. In this fight, Sailor Jupiter would gain a new attack (yet to be named) with the Seiryuu Sword, and Sailor Neptune would use “Submarine Violon Tide” with her Deep Aqua Mirror.
And once the two Sailor Senshi would have what they came for, they’d teleport out since Shadow Pulsar would be too powerful to beat. Pulsar, like the other three Shadow Senshi, would sense the presence of something and, before warping away, would say, “She’s here… Shadow Moon…!”
Back on Earth, Usagi and Mamoru would be at Usagi’s house having a talk with Ikuko and Kenji about their daughter having secretly been Sailor Moon all along, fighting enemies and putting herself in danger behind their backs. Shingo would be there too, trying to help his parents accept Usagi as a superhero (yeah, Shingo would be supporting
his sister by this point), but the two parents would be uncertain if they could trust Usagi anymore after having learned that their daughter has been lying to them all this time, leaving a secret life of deception and rushing into danger without thinking of how her loved ones would feel if anything were to happen to her. Even Luna would try to help, but the revelation of the cat being able to speak would likewise be too much to bear, as that would be yet another lie on top of all the others. Usagi’s parents would at first attempt to forbid Usagi from being Sailor Moon anymore, but when they’d see how much objection they’d receive from their decision, they would then decide that, the longer Usagi continues being Sailor Moon, the harder she will have to work to win back her parents’ trust.
Once the other Senshi and Artemis would get back to Earth, they’d find that Setsuna had also returned, ahead of them, with some troubling news. She found out nothing in her investigations, gathering only that the warning must originate from a point in time far beyond her reach, a future era she cannot access. However, she would also mention that there was something, or someone, else inside the space-time corridor with her, and whatever it was attempted to fight her off and keep her from proceeding any further. She even had to use her “Garnet Ball” technique to defend herself (which would be shown in a flashback). Once the fight was over, Pluto found herself back in the 20th century. She and the other Senshi would wonder if someone came through the space-time corridor from the future.Episode 44
would be Part 1 of a two-parter. Typhos would be healed from the wounds inflicted upon him by Chaos and, after doing some thinking during his recovery, he would decide that, if he is to survive and surpass anyone and everyone who might oppose him, the power of Chaos would need to become his and his alone. But, he would keep these thoughts to himself. Erebus and Nyx would be discussing the seeming failure of the ones who called themselves the Shadow Senshi, but before she and Erebus could continue discussing the matter any further, Tartarus would return with the knowledge he’d gleaned from Sailor Moon (along with her words of “Living only to await one’s death is a sad way to live” still on his mind). Knowing now that she’s Princess Serenity--the “Daughter of Selene” (Selene no Musume
), as he’d call her—and knowing the kind of power her Silver Crystal possesses, Tartarus would insist that the Imperium reorganize its plans around dealing with the threat Sailor Moon poses. Erebus would agree, but then an argument would break out between the two about whether she should be either killed or kept alive for Chaos to kill. Typhos would then jump in and argue that she should be kept alive so that he can have her, which would then escalate the argument to involve the subject of Typhos’s obsession with Sailor Moon and how it’s interfered with the Imperium’s plans in the past.
The argument would finally be stopped by Nyx playing the role of a mediator to get everyone back on the same page. She would point out that this conflict between themselves is exactly why they have never been able to defeat the Sailor Senshi, since Tartarus wants to keep the Senshi alive for Chaos to kill while Erebus wants them killed without delay, and Typhos places his lust for Sailor Moon above the mission to revive Chaos, putting his personal desires at odds with the Imperium’s true purpose. None of them can ever hope to achieve anything when they all keep fighting amongst themselves and refuse to fully work together with each other. Therefore, Nyx would propose that they try a different strategy, one they can all agree on.
Reviewing their past activities from previous episodes, going over what worked and what didn’t, Nyx would decide that they should attempt to do to Sailor Moon what they had done to Sailor Mercury: Corrupt her to their side. But this time, in such a way as to not be so unpredictable and instead be more receptive to their commands. That way, Sailor Moon would no longer be a threat to the Imperium’s plans, would still be alive for Chaos to deal with later, and would allow her to be with Typhos as an ally. Seeing little flaws in Nyx’s proposal, the other three would agree to it. However, Tartarus would request to be in charge of overseeing this plan, as he’d feel he’d know just how to carry it out. Erebus would question if Tartarus would be trying to take back his position of leadership from him, to which Tartarus would answer that he would only resume command if Erebus were to truly relinquish the title. Reassured but still skeptical, Erebus would permit him to proceed.
The first step in this plan would be to see if Sailor Moon really could be corrupted as Mercury was, for one of the key factors in how Dark Mercury both performed and was defeated lay in her memories as a Sailor Senshi. Because of the influence Mercury’s memories had, Tartarus would have Nyx create a spell to try and erase all of Sailor Moon’s memories, as a test to see how thoroughly she could be turned. This test would be classified as “Phase One: Memory Loss”. Naturally, Typhos would volunteer to be the one to test the spell on their selected victim.
Back on Earth, Usagi would be at school with Ami, Minako, Makoto, Naru, and Luna, talking about Usagi’s previous encounter with Tartarus and what information she and him gleaned from each other. They would discuss how Tartarus, though definitely their enemy, seems to be unlike all other enemies they’ve ever encountered. To her, it’s as though Tartarus is genuinely noble in his intentions and demeanor, but fighting on the wrong side. Minako and Makoto would be in disbelief of this, but Ami would vouch for Usagi since, though most of her specific memories of when she was Dark Mercury would be hazy, she’d be able to vaguely recall that Tartarus did treat her well, only becoming scary when she, as Dark Mercury, continued to act out of line. Unfortunately, though, Ami’s memories of where the Imperium’s headquarters is located would be long gone, being the result of a failsafe side effect from having the spell that turned her evil cleansed from her. The discussion would then change to the current state of Usagi’s home, with her parents still giving her the cold shoulder, unable to forgive their daughter for her continued lying to them about being Sailor Moon. The others would tell Usagi to hang in there and not give up hope that her parents might come around and accept her for the hero of love and justice that she is.
Shortly thereafter, however, the girls would literally bump into Ryuu, who would help Usagi back to her feet after having accidently knocked her down. Upon helping her up, Ryuu would put Usagi under the spell as she’d look him in the eye when he’d help her up. Feeling a little wary of Ryuu, Makoto would urge Usagi and the others to be on their way and, not wanting to draw suspicion to himself, Ryuu would let them walk off, silently waiting to let the spell take effect. However, since the spell would only serve as a test, rather than having her lose them all at once, she’d lose her memories only gradually. First, she would forget who Minako is, then Makoto, then Ami, then that she’s Sailor Moon, and then Luna, until finally she’d only remember being friends with Naru. By this point, she’d also forget about the Outers, Rei, and that Mamoru’s her boyfriend (remembering him only as the jerk who annoyed her before). She’d basically be reverted to how she was at the very start of the first season.
The others would try their best to get her to remember them all, and both Rei and Mamoru would soon meet up with them to help as well. However, Usagi would be completely in the dark about who any of them are, except for Naru and “that jerk”. Shortly, Typhos would decide to make his appearance to personally retrieve Usagi and take her for himself, refusing to let any of them jog her memory so easily. But the other Senshi would keep him at bay while Naru would take off with Usagi, pulling her along to try to keep her safe like how Usagi had done for Naru earlier this season.
Meanwhile, up on the Moon inside the Moon Castle, a dark figure in armor (black with medium pink) would be standing within the castle’s main hall, taking in the majesty of a great crystalline spire set in front of her. This person, Shadow Moon, would then be joined by the arrival of four other beings of her kind, the other Shadow Senshi. The four would get Shadow Moon up to speed on things, like their present alliance with the Primordial Imperium, and explain that they have yet to obtain the Sailor Crystals of the Sailor Senshi, but will not rest until they have them. They would then ask Shadow Moon about her own delayed arrival, to which she would reply “I took care of our pursuer, but there was another pest in my way that kept me from reaching here. She put up a fight, but I forced her back to get here myself.” When the other four would ask her what they are to do now, Shadow Moon would tell them to continue their ruse of being seen as allies to the Primordial Imperium for the time being. For now, Shadow Moon will go after Sailor Moon while the other four provide assistance to the Imperium’s current plans.
As Naru would pull Usagi alongside trying to get her to safety away from Typhos (who’d still be fighting the Guardian Senshi), and all the while hoping Usagi’s memory of Naru wouldn’t fade just yet, the two would be ambushed by the sudden arrival of the sadistic Shadow Moon, who’d corner the two in an alley. Naru would try to defend Usagi, but Shadow Moon would swat her aside, knocking her out. As all hope for Usagi would seem to be lost, from out of the sky would come a red rose, striking the ground before Shadow Moon. From high above, a figure in black would swoop down to defend the amnesiac Usagi. Mamoru would be donning his Tuxedo Mask form for the first time since obtaining his Golden Knight upgrade, knowing and hoping that Usagi would see him in this form and either trigger a memory of it or be smitten by him once again. He would confront and engage Shadow Moon, even using his “Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber” attack for the first time in this 90’s anime continuity.
Back with Typhos vs. the Sailor Senshi, the four other Shadow Senshi would descend upon the fight (much to the horrors of each Guardian Sailor Senshi seeing them here on Earth) with the pretense of having come to help Typhos fight the Sailor Senshi. They’d secretly hope this claim would get Typhos out of the way of their mission, but Typhos would instead feel offended, thinking that they were sent by the Protogenoi to help him, when he’d want to prove that he could handle this by himself. So rather than let the other four take care of the Sailor Senshi for him, with his pride clouding his better judgment, he’d insist that he’ll personally deal with the Sailor Senshi in spite of their offer to assist him. The Shadow Senshi would silently consider Typhos a fool who would get in the way of their own plans, but would not stop him from having his way so as to keep up their ruse of being his ally. Even still, they’d also fight the Sailor Senshi regardless, pretty much wiping the floor with each of them until the Outer Senshi would arrive to help.
Back with the fight against Shadow Moon, Tuxedo Mask would be doing his best to keep Usagi safe, but wouldn’t be as powerful in this form and would be struggling to hold his own. He’d go as long as he could to stay in his Tuxedo Mask form before switching to his Golden Knight form so as to let Usagi’s trust in him grow further, knowing that she’d take to Tuxedo Mask more than anything else. However, at one point, Shadow Moon would strike him down, exposing his unmasked face to Usagi, who would recognize him as “that jerk”, but would now be confused about whether she’d really dislike him or not after having just witnessed him risking his life for her. Mamoru would beg Usagi to trust that he’s always going to protect her no matter what, because his love for her is boundless. Usagi would be overwhelmed by so many emotions, uncertain of how to handle all this. Mamoru would embrace her and whisper into her ear “I love you, Usako,” and would turn to face Shadow Moon, who would grow tired of Shadow Moon’s toying with him, wanting to end this battle. With a renewed resolve and fire in his eyes, Mamoru would raise his Golden Crystal Pen and cry out “Golden Crystal Power, (something
) Up!” ending Part 1.Episode 45
would have Mamoru turning into the Golden Knight and engaging Shadow Moon one-on-one. Meanwhile, Typhos and the other four Shadow Senshi would still be fighting the other eight Sailor Senshi, with Sailor Jupiter sword-fighting with Typhos. During the fight, Sailor Pluto would realize that something about the Shadow Senshi seems familiar to her, recognizing their energy and basic appearance as being like that of the person she previously encountered and fought in the space-time corridor.
Back with Golden Knight and Shadow Moon, the two would continue fighting each other as Naru would regain consciousness and try to get back up. Usagi, meanwhile, would be watching the fight, completely overcome with emotion, seeing a real life knight in shining armor fighting to save her… because he loves
HER! However, another flash of the memory spell would kick in, causing her to collapse from a searing pain in her head that would knock her out. Seeing her fall, Naru would cry out to her and make her way over to her. Realizing that Naru’s still here, the Golden Knight would call out to her to get Usagi to safety, to get her to Game Center Crown! While a little confused by this order (especially since Crown would be closed at this time), Naru would comply and help up the unconscious Usagi onto her shoulder and escort her to Crown while the Golden Knight would provide cover for them. Determined to not let her quarry get away, Shadow Moon would escalate the fight, only for the Golden Knight to counter with his own increased resolve. At last, he would finally finish the fight with an augmented version of his light-based attack with Ouryuken. Believing his foe to have either perished or retreated, the Golden Knight would sheath his sword and make haste towards Crown. However, unbeknownst to him, Shadow Moon would still be alive, having survived his attack and hidden from sight, intent on following him to let him lead her to Sailor Moon.
Back at the fight between the Sailor Senshi, Shadow Senshi, and Typhos, the Sailor Senshi would be on the ground, exhaust from the fight but still refusing to give up. Their weapons would lay beside each of them, though Jupiter’s sword would have landed on top of Venus’s kunai chain, their physical contact causing the two weapons to emit a glowing aura. Before either Jupiter or Venus could take stock in this, the fight would be interrupted by Tartarus arriving tell Typhos to cease this senseless fighting and pull out, for Typhos had failed to retrieve the now long gone Sailor Moon. However, the presence of the Shadow Senshi would puzzle Tartarus, as he’d never knew they were still alive nor aware of any order given to them to assist Typhos. This revelation would startle Typhos and the Sailor Senshi, who would all demand to know who the Shadow Senshi really are and why they’re really here. Seeing how outnumbered they are and that their cover has been blown, the four Shadow Senshi would gather together and cryptically respond with “You’ll know soon enough,” before warping away into the sky.
Wanting answers, the Sailor Senshi would demand from Tartarus to explain what’s going on, but Tartarus would simply answer with “I know nothing of those four Shadow Senshi. But as for Typhos and myself, it’s as our uninvited guests said: You’ll know soon enough,” vanishing away with Typhos to leave behind a rather frustrated Sailor Team. Venus, however, would get a message from Artemis via her communicator, telling her and the others to come to the Secret Base immediately. The girls would decide to head over there.
Back at the Sagittarius Zero Star, Nyx would be reviewing the battle that had just taken place between Typhos, the Sailor Senshi, and the Shadow Senshi, surprised to see the Shadow Senshi having appeared in that battle when they never returned to the Imperium nor were given any new orders from them. She’d ask Erebus what he thinks of them and if they can be trusted (since Nyx has doubted their sincerity from the beginning), but Erebus would be in a state of self-reflection, pondering over his performance as leader. He would confess to Nyx how he believes to have failed in his leadership, being no better (maybe even worse) a leader than Tartarus was. Nyx would reassure him that he hasn’t failed, that the Sailor Senshi are to blame for all of their shortcomings. While he doesn’t deny the Sailor Senshi having been a thorn in his side for so long, Erebus would state that he thought he could do better than his brother, but admits to Nyx that he feels like something’s missing in his leadership skills, something that Tartarus has that he himself lacks. Erebus would then ask Nyx why, after having come up with the idea of this plan herself, she let Tartarus take charge of overseeing it, instead of carrying it out herself. Nyx would answer that it’s because, for all of Tartarus’s own shortcomings, she believes in him, feeling confident and secure that he’ll come through in the end. When Erebus then asks Nyx what she thinks of him as her leader, Nyx would confess to him that she’s always believed in him as well, even in spite of the reckless decisions he’s made in the past (such as losing the Obsidian Core and trying to kill Sailor Mars behind the Imperium’s back), and was impressed when he took charge over Tartarus. She wants Erebus to put aside his feelings of doubt and believe in himself as much as she believes in him. He isn’t his brother and never will be, so he should stop comparing himself to Tartarus and be the leader than only he can be. While Erebus would be flattered, he would admit to her that he honestly does feel that Tartarus is more capable at being a leader than he is, and would remember what Tartarus said before about only resuming command if Erebus let him, reflecting on how Tartarus is one who earns his promotions through merit rather than demanding them like Erebus did. Nyx would ask Erebus if he’s saying that he wants to give the title of leader back to Tartarus, and Erebus would respond that he’s too prideful to ever admit that to Tartarus, especially after all Erebus did to get where he is right now. So Nyx would ask Erebus what he’s going to do now, and Erebus would be left with a decision he would have to make.
At Crown, Naru would still be with the unconscious Usagi when Mamoru and the cats would finally arrive. Mamoru would carry Usagi into the Secret Base and lay her down. Theorizing that, since the Silver Crystal had once restored memories that both Usagi and Mamoru once lost before, and since the Golden Crystal previously had done the same for Mamoru, perhaps using the two in conjunction with each other might be able to heal Usagi’s current state. Pulling out his Golden Crystal, Mamoru would place it over Usagi’s brooch. The Golden Crystal would glow, bringing out the Silver Moon Crystal. The two crystals would glow brighter and brighter, until the whole room would be filled with a bright white light that would swallow Usagi, Mamoru, and the cats. The other Sailor Senshi would all arrive just in time to be consumed by the light as well. The whole group would have a vision together, with Usagi awakening in the vision to seemingly have her memories back, though not without a major headache. Mamoru would embrace her, relieved that she’s returned to normal, but something else would cut short their celebration. Standing before them all in this bright white void would be gentle, motherly-looking woman clad in green clothing.
Mamoru would feel like he’d met this woman before, and the woman would confirm his suspicions, for she was the presence he felt upon his first acquiring the Golden Crystal from Helios. She would introduce herself as Gaia, Soul of the Earth, a Protogenos. The Senshi would prepare themselves if she was an enemy, but Gaia would put them at ease, declaring herself to be on the side of life, having no shared interests with the Primordial Imperium. After being asked who she is, Gaia would explain to the Senshi the backstory of herself and the Primordial Imperium as described in my older posts (I originally had Tartarus explain this origin and much closer to the end of the series, but felt it would be better for it to come earlier, and in such a way as to give Gaia a presence in the story). When asked how to defeat Chaos and the Imperium, Gaia would also be asked if she possessed the power needed to defeat them. Gaia, however, would state that she alone does not have that kind of power, declaring that only through unity can Chaos be defeated. Only when all are brought together can their light defeat the darkness. Gaia’s particular phrasing of this statement would have some of the Senshi wondering what Gaia means by “their light”, as though Gaia was speaking of others like herself. But before they could ask Gaia what she meant, the vision would begin to fade as Gaia would be short of any further time (much like the Queen Serenity scene from Act 10 of the manga). However, before the vision would end, the Senshi would ask Gaia two final things, what she knew about the ones called the Shadow Senshi (as even Tartarus seemed unfamiliar with them), and what the premonition given by the Sailor crystals means. Gaia, however, would also have never heard of these “Shadow Senshi”, supposing that, whoever they are, it’s very possible that they’re an external faction unrelated to the Primordial Imperium. As for the premonition, Gaia would have no knowledge of that either. The vision would then end.
Back inside the secret base, everyone would be at a loss of what to do now. However, they’d hear a scream coming from outside at the entrance to Crown. Emerging from the arcade, they’d find Naru (who hadn’t been pulled into the vision, and instead had tried to get out of the base to get away from the blinding light) being held hostage by the surviving Shadow Moon, who had secretly followed Mamoru back to Crown. Usagi would transform into Sailor Moon and demand that Naru be released. Shadow Moon would allow Naru to live only if the Senshi were to give her what she’d want, their Sailor Crystals. Naru would beg the Senshi to not give in, but Sailor Moon would beg Shadow Moon to stop choking Naru. Shadow Moon would demand the Sailor Crystals once again, with all of the Sailor Senshi and the Golden Knight uncertain of what to do. Usagi would want to save Naru, but the Sailor Crystals would likewise be too precious to give up.
Before Sailor Moon could make a decision, however, a black ray of energy would strike Shadow Moon from behind, releasing her grip on Naru. Hovering above, Tartarus would declare to Shadow Moon that she and her ilk have interfered with a very delicate plan, and that he will not allow her to possess the Sailor Crystals. Shadow Moon would yell at him, calling him a fool for what he’s done, himself having interfered with a plan much bigger than he could fathom. Tartarus would demand that she explain herself, but Shadow Moon (outnumbered and too injured to continue fighting) would curse him and everyone around her before warping away. Tartarus would then lower himself to the ground and address the Sailor Senshi. Before Sailor Moon could ask why he helped them, Tartarus would stop her, explaining that he only did what he did because Shadow Moon had no honor in her tactics, and that the Shadow Senshi had lied to the Imperium about where their loyalties lay. He was not going to stand by and allow Shadow Moon to go unpunished for her comrades’ deception. He’d remind Sailor Moon that, though he does respect her, she will continue to be his enemy for as long as she and her friends continue to oppose his master (though her words to him from before would again still be on his mind). Sailor Moon would attempt to tell him something else (about Gaia), but the Golden Knight would stop her, insisting that Tartarus doesn’t need to be told about that. Tartarus would then depart with a “Till we meet again.”
Back at Sagittarius Zero Star, Tartarus would regroup with the others, declaring that the Shadow Senshi are working from their own agenda and are no longer allies of the Imperium, having never been. It is decided that, if they continue to interfere, the Shadow Senshi must be dealt with, if the Sailor Senshi don’t take care of them first. Erebus would hesitate in his possibly wanting to give Tartarus back the leader role, and would instead cover it up by expressing dissatisfaction with Tartarus’s plan so far. But Tartarus would reassure him that the memory drain test did prove that the Daughter of Selene can indeed have her mind wiped clean, as such will be necessary for the rest of this plan. When asked what he plans to do next, Tartarus would declare the commencement of “Phase Two: False Calm.” Episode 46
would be Part 1 of another two-parter (last one, I promise). The name of this episode would be “Holiday plans! The Shadow Senshi ‘s Sinister Plot”.
By this point, the Winter break would be in effect and Christmas would be just around the corner. The Sailor Senshi would be at the Hikawa Shrine reflecting on events and topics from the previous episodes: Who the Shadow Senshi are, the revelations told to them by Gaia, and Usagi’s memory loss. Luna and Artemis would state that they’ve been conducting further research in the Moon Castle’s library to see what more they could learn from its vast array of tomes, but of all the information they’ve gleaned, none of it had any info on the Shadow Senshi. Stranger still is that all of their enemies have been particularly quiet lately, as there have been no villainous activities of any kind for quite some time, as though the bad guys all just gave up and left. Some of the Senshi would find this unusual peacefulness quite discomforting.
At this point, Rei’s grandfather would pop in from around the corner to ask if any of the young ladies would like anything, to which they would kindly decline his offer. Yuichiro would also pass bye, giving Rei a friendly greeting, but then reminding himself to not be too friendly, and would walk off to continue working, leaving a sighing Rei behind.
As snowflakes would continue to fall, Minako would the subject would change to raise everyone’s moodiness by commenting on the flakes’ beauty, and reminding everyone that Christmas will be here very soon. Hotaru would wonder why Minako brought that up since, to her, Christmas is just another day of the year. This would startle the other girls, who would then ask Hotaru if she’s ever gotten to enjoy the holiday season. Hotaru would reveal that she never really thought of this time of year as being all that special since her father was always so busy with his work that he and Hotaru only ever treated Christmas like any other non-school day of the year. This would really surprise Usagi, who’d feel sorry for Hotaru having never got to enjoy the holidays, or experience a Christmas party. Hotaru would reassure her that she’s never really thought about it before so it’s never bothered her, since she didn’t really have any friends to think about this with before until… until she met Chibiusa. This reminder of Chibiusa would make Hotaru feel a little sad, and would prompt Usagi to want to cheer Hotaru up. Usagi would decide that she’d want to throw a Christmas Eve party just for Hotaru! The others would jump in and want to help too, except for Haruka, who’d feel that a party wouldn’t be such a good idea at this time. But since Usagi would be so dead set on doing this for Hotaru, Haruka would sigh and shrug it off, letting Usagi and the others do it while still not agreeing with their being so carefree at a time like this.
Hotaru would then start to wonder how Chibiusa is doing right now, which would lead to a scene transition. In the 30th Century, Christmastime would be in effect as well, with Princess Small Lady excited for the year’s annual royal Christmas party hosted at the Crystal Palace by her parents, Neo Queen Serenity and King Endymion. She’d be especially excited since, this year, she is to receive some very special gifts from each of her parents and each of the four Guardian Senshi; ones that recent events have proven her to be both old enough and mature enough to have them.
Back in the 20th Century, Professor Tomoe would receive a phone call from Hotaru to tell him the news of what Usagi and the others are doing for her this year, and to ask his permission for her to go to their party. Tomoe would think the party is a great idea and would happily permit her to go. Upon ending the call, Tomoe would silently smile with happy relief that his daughter is much happier than she used to be.
Elsewhere, Usagi and the others would be busy trying to get this party going. After having to beg her parents for permission to hold to the party at their house (things would still be uneasy between Usagi and her parents), Usagi and the others would start their planning and shopping. During all this, Usagi would pop into Fruits Parlor Crown for a quick bite and happen upon Naru and Umino, who would have already made their own holiday plans for this year. After Usagi would tell them about her own plans, Unazuki would also overhear Usagi’s for a party and think that what she’s doing for her friend is a wonderful idea. Motoki would soon enter and say hi to everyone there before Usagi would realize that she’d have to get back to shopping for the party. She’d say bye to everyone and head out.
Upon her exiting, however, a large commotion would occur in the nearby downtown area. The Ami, Minako, Rei, and Makoto would already be headed that direction and would meet up with Usagi along the way. The Shadow Senshi would appear and cause wanton destruction to draw out the Sailor Senshi. The five Inners would transform and go to confront them, with the Outers joining them, having also seen the attack. The Shadow Senshi would formally introduce themselves to the Sailor Team: “Shi to konton no Ankoku Senshi Shadow Moon, Shadow Nebula, Shadow Nova, Shadow Quasar, Shadow Pulsar! Kage no kawatte hakai yo!” (“We are the Darkness Soldiers of death and chaos: Shadow Moon, Shadow Nebula, Shadow Nova, Shadow Quasar, Shadow Pulsar! On the shadow’s behalf, you will be destroyed!”)
Sailor Pluto would definitely recognize Shadow Moon as the one she fought in the space-time corridor, which Shadow Moon would confirm. The Shadow Senshi would explain that they want the Sailor Senshi’s Sailor Crystals, which the Sailor Senshi would again deny them. Shadow Moon would assure the Sailor Senshi that they will
have the Sailor Crystals, one way or another, and would attack. The Sailor Senshi would try to fight back but the Shadow Senshi would once again prove their superiority. Even in their weakened states, the Sailor Senshi would still refuse to give up, no matter how badly they’d get beaten. Before the Shadow Senshi would be able to finish the Sailor Senshi, a golden rose would strike the ground between the two teams of Senshi, its golden petals glowing and momentarily blinding the Shadow Senshi. The Golden Knight would make his dramatic entrance and attack with his Ouryuken, inflicting mild injuries upon the Shadow Senshi. Shadow Moon would recall how “this one” is different from the others, being strong enough to do some harm to the Shadow Senshi. The Golden Knight would then use Smoking Bomber Mirage to create a large smokescreen that would both shield himself and his comrades from sight and sting the eyes of the Shadow Senshi. The Sailor Senshi would use this brief state of confusion to get way to safety, thanking the Golden Knight for the save, leaving behind a very furious team of Shadow Senshi, who would warp away to get out of the eye-searing smoke cloud.
Back inside the Moon Castle, the Shadow Senshi would vent their frustration. Shadow Moon would try to get her wits back together and reassure the others that they aren’t giving up so easily. They WILL get the Sailor Crystals from the Sailor Senshi. Shadow Quasar, however, would remain unconvinced given their recent track record. Shadow Moon would ask if Quasar has forgotten why they were created in the first place. This would prompt Shadow Pulsar to recall their origin, how they were created by their boss in the far future and sent back in time to go after the Sailor Crystals of the Sailor Team (by either capturing or destroying the crystals), so as to both secure their boss’s existence and to erase their boss’s archenemy from ever existing, thereby rewriting history to grant their boss a complete and total victory. Quasar would retort that, so far, they haven’t accomplished any of that, given that they had first gone to the wrong era, mistaking the peaceful 30th Century (“Crystal Tokyo” or whatever it was called) for an easy target, not knowing that that era would present much more resistance than they’d expected. Shadow Nebula would argue that that plan had seemed like an easy job: They’d kidnap the princess of that era and hold her to ransom for the Sailor Crystals. They couldn’t have known that that princess was also Sailor Senshi herself (one who even lacked a Sailor Crystal at that), who was able to escape from the Shadow Senshi and summon her allies to overcome the Shadow Senshi, forcing them to retreat. Quasar would argue that that means their future intel was faulty, that it shouldn’t be missing such vital pieces of information. Nebula would argue that they did still get out of there once they’d realized how much easier their chances would be in the much less developed 20th Century. The era where the Sailor Crystals were first discovered would surely prove easier to handle, especially with the Sailor Senshi being scattered for their castle missions, which their future intel did
know about. But Quasar would retort that each of them still failed on those missions as well. And where was Shadow Moon during all this? She was still in the space-time corridor, having not yet emerged in the 20th Century. Shadow Moon would argue that she stayed behind to deal with someone else who had followed them through time from their original era. And after she got rid of that pursuer, she had to deal with yet another pest in her way of reaching this 20th Century era. But Shadow Moon would reassure the others that she did get rid of their pursuer, catching her off guard and knocking her to parts unknown within the corridor. All of them would then notice how unusually quiet the otherwise normally manic Shadow Nova has been, and would ask her what she’s thinking about. Nova would answer that she’s been wondering what they would gain from getting the Sailor Crystals, since they know history would be changed if they succeed, meaning that if their future is changed so that their boss is given an automatic victory, then wouldn’t they be erasing their very existence since they only exist because of their boss’s lack of a victory? This higher level of thinking coming from the typically simpleminded Nova would stun the others, who’d then brush it off after Nova would express having given herself a headache from thinking too much. Shadow Moon would assure the others that, once they’d have the Sailor Crystals, all this (the castles) would be theirs to rule, so long as they’d stay out of the way of their boss’s further plans to come. She’d then proceed to discuss a new plan with the other four, saying that there’s more than one way to make the Sailor Senshi come to them.
Back in the 30th Century, the royal Christmas party would be underway, with Small Lady enjoying the festivities. Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion would be on their thrones and would quiet down everyone to make an announcement: It is time to present their gifts to the princess. Excited, Small Lady would approach her parents and the queen would stand up and step towards her daughter. As the queen would begin to speak, the party would be interrupted by the sudden arrival of Sailor Pluto (the one native to the 30th Century, who’d be in her Super Sailor Pluto form). Pluto would beg pardon from the king and queen for the interruption as she’d need to speak with them urgently. The king and queen would permit her to speak and the three would step aside to speak in private, much to Small Lady’s disappointment. But once the three would finish, they would call Small Lady over to speak with them, changing her mood from sadness to confusion.
Back in the 20th Century, Ikuko and Kenji would be discussing how they’ve been treating Usagi lately and if they’ve really been handling this situation the right way. Sure, their daughter’s lied to them all this time, but was it for a good cause? Shingo would drop in and intrude on their discussion to try again to get them to understand why superheroes live lives of secrecy for the sake of their loved ones, when all three would suddenly be scooped up and abducted by Shadow Moon’s wicked hand. Elsewhere, Naru and Umino would be out walking together spending the holidays as a couple when Shadow Nebula would scoop them up as well. At Fruits Parlor Crown, Motoki would be leaving after having finished a meal, saying bye to his sister Unazuki on his way out, when Shadow Nova would likewise scoop up the two of them. At the Hikawa Shrine, Rei’s grandfather would be talking with Yuichiro about the distant behavior he’s shown towards Rei recently when Shadow Quasar would scoop both of them up too. And finally, just as Hotaru would be arriving back home, her father would be scooped up by Shadow Pulsar, who’d see Hotaru arrive on the scene and leave her with a warning before warping away: “If don’t want your father and everyone else to die, come face us on the Moon!”
Hotaru would contact the others and alert them to what’s happened, at which point both Usagi and Rei would have arrived back at their respective homes to find them unusually empty. The nine Sailor Senshi, Mamoru, and the two cats would regroup to Sailor Teleport up to the Moon. Once there, they’d arrive to find all ten frightened victims tied up and hanging down from one of the high balconies of the Moon Castle. Hovering in mid air between the ten victims and the ten Senshi on the ground below, the Shadow Senshi would demand one last time that Sailor Senshi surrender their Sailor Crystals or all of these people will die! The Sailor Senshi would be stuck with a dilemma, but Uranus would be the first to speak against the Shadow Senshi, refusing to surrender. The other Sailor Senshi would argue that they can’t let all their loved ones die, to which Uranus would argue that the lives of many outweigh a few sacrifices. Overhearing this argument, the Shadow Senshi would laugh, calling Uranus a narrow-minded fool for thinking that they’d stop at just these ten. The Shadow Senshi would declare that, if the Sailor Senshi choose to let these ten be sacrificed, the Shadow Senshi will only continue to kill more innocent lives, even if they have to kill every single human, animal, and lifeform on Earth to get the Sailor Senshi to surrender their Sailor Crystals, by which point the Sailor Senshi would have failed their mission to protect all life on Earth. Therefore, are the Sailor Crystals really worth more than the billions of innocent lives on Earth? Angered, Uranus would leap up at the Shadow Senshi to try and attack them, but the Shadow Senshi would grab her, restraining her in mid-air, and force out her Uranus Crystal, de-transforming her, much to the horrors of everyone watching this. Once they’d have it, they’d let go of the unconscious Haruka to let her drop. Neptune would cry out and leap up to catch her.
Having acquired the Uranus Crystal, the Shadow Senshi would gloat that all is hopeless for the Sailor Senshi, but Naru would yell down towards the Sailor Senshi, telling them to not give up and don’t worry about her and the others, for they aren’t as important as the Sailor Senshi’s mission. But Sailor Moon would yell back up to her to tell her she’s wrong. All ten of them are very precious to her, so much so that Sailor Moon is willing to give up everything to save them. All ten hostages would be moved by these words. The remaining Senshi would all agree with Sailor Moon and (reluctantly) summon their Sailor Crystals to give them up, de-transforming in the process. Upon seeing this, Umino, Motoki, Unazuki, and Rei’s grandpa would all discover that the Sailor Senshi are all people they know and recognize! The Shadow Senshi would bask in the satisfaction of this victory. But before anyone could give up their crystals, a loud cry of “Pink Ladies Freezing Kiss!” would sound off, immediately followed by the Shadow Senshi suddenly frozen solid, dropping to the ground like rocks. Five blurs would streak passed all ten hostages, grabbing each one of them and setting them down safely atop the balcony, having had their bond cut loose. Everyone would look up to see five silhouettes standing on the balcony, the centermost one bearing a familiar shape and voice: Sailor Chibi Moon.Episode 47
would be Part 2 of this two-parter, titled “Holy Night! The Great Battle of Twenty Senshi!”
Everyone would look up to see five newcomers having just arrived on the scene, the centermost one revealed to be none other than Sailor Chibi Moon, sporting a newly-acquired Eternal form! Chibi Moon would leap down from the balcony to greet her friends on the ground. She would de-transform into Chibiusa. Hotaru would run up to Chibiusa and the two would hug, having missed each other. The others would ask Chibiusa what she’s doing here, to which Chibiusa would indicate the still-frozen Shadow Senshi, stating that she came here after them. Chibiusa would explain that the Shadow Senshi had once tried to kidnap and hold her to ransom back in her time, but she was able to outsmart them and her parents overpowered them. But before the Shadow Senshi could be detained, they escaped through time and came here. The Sailor Pluto of the 30th Century had been trying to locate them ever since. When asked if Chibiusa knows who they are or where they came from, Chibiusa would say that she does not know. Just that they showed up one day out of nowhere demanding the Sailor Crystals, and their disappearance was similar to how they arrived, suggesting that they might have come from an even different point in time. In any case, once the Shadow Senshi were located, Chibiusa and her new team were sent after them. Upon mentioning her new team, Chibiusa’s four compatriots would leap down to join her, revealing themselves (to the Inners shock) to be… the Amazoness Quartet! Chibiusa would calm them down and assure them that the Quartet is her team now. They were always meant to be her team, but Queen Nehellenia had gotten to them first. They aren’t bad guys anymore.
Chibiusa would then flashback to when she was called over to speak with her parents and Pluto. They would tell her that the five troublemakers who tried to kidnap her before have gone to the 20th Century, to “that
time”. Small Lady would insist that she go after them, knowing that if the 20th Century is in danger then Usagi and all her friends from back then are in danger as well, which means that this future era is also in danger. The king and queen would admire their daughter’s compassion and, after recalling how she faired against the five enemies before, would tell her that they do indeed want her to go. Overjoyed, Small Lady would start to run off, but Neo Queen Serenity would stop her, telling her that, before she goes, she must first accept the gifts that are to be given to her by both her mother and the four Guardian Senshi, while her father’s gift can wait until her return. End flashback.
The Quartet would introduce themselves as Sailor Ceres, Sailor Pallas, Sailor Vesta, and Sailor Juno. Together, they are… the Sailor Quartet! The four would de-transform into their civilian forms (seen in some episodes of SuperS) to show that they have changed, no longer having their Amazoness forms. Chibiusa would state that the four were given to her by the future Sailors Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter, and would show the others the gift given to her by her mother: The Pink Moon Crystal, her own Sailor Crystal, which gave her her new form. Cere Cere, Ves Ves, and Jun Jun would speak of how the four of them were personally trained by the Guardian Senshi of the 30th Century ever since the Quartet first became Sailor Senshi. Palla Palla, meanwhile, would have her attention drawn away from the others by something shiny on the ground: Haruka’s Uranus Crystal, which had been dropped by the Shadow Senshi upon the first shock of their being frozen by Chibiusa and the Quartet. Palla Palla would pick it up and give it back to Haruka after being told what it was.
Speaking of the Shadow Senshi, the five of them would then finally break free of their icy prisons, more outraged than ever. All fifteen good guys would turn to face them, with the Shadow Senshi likewise acknowledging all of them. With a look of determination in everyone’s eyes, an awesome FIFTEEN transformation sequences would occur, accompanied by an awesome song like “Sailor Team no Theme” or “La Soldier”. Eyeing all fifteen Senshi, the Shadow Senshi would cast off any doubts they might have had about confronting such a large number and would charge forward! So too would their opponents! A large 15-on-5 battle would begin:
- Sailor Moon, Golden Knight, and Sailor Chibi Moon vs. Shadow Moon
- Sailor Mercury, Sailor Saturn, and Sailor Pallas vs. Shadow Nebula
- Sailor Venus, Sailor Uranus, and Sailor Ceres vs. Shadow Nova
- Sailor Mars, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Vesta vs. Shadow Quasar
- Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Pluto, and Sailor Juno vs. Shadow Pulsar
And this time, since it would be 3-on-1, the good guys would have more of a fighting chance since previous 2-on-1 battles with the Shadow Senshi weren’t enough.
High up above on the balcony, Shingo, Naru, Yuuichirou, and Umino would be watching the fight below, while Motoki and Unazuki would be tending to the four adults. Umino would be in complete bewilderment over Usagi and all her friends being the Sailor Senshi, while Naru would be playfully poking at the fact that she found out before him, much to his astonishment. Yuichiro would be remarking how incredible this whole situation is, while Shingo would be fully invested in the battle going on below and how awesome it is. Rei’s grandfather would be baffled that Rei is a Sailor Senshi, and would wonder why she never told him before. Motoki would try to assure him that she must have meant well by keeping this a secret. Unazuki would agree, and still find this whole thing to be amazing. Ikuko, however, would just want to go home, believing that none of this would have happened had her daughter never become Sailor Moon. This would spur Professor Tomoe, who had been quiet up until now, to speak up and say, “Don’t say that! Don’t you dare say something like that!” Kenji would get defensive, telling Tomoe not to yell at his wife like that, asking him who is he to say such things. Tomoe would argue that it is because of those girls fighting down below that each one of them is alive and well today. Those girls have saved many lives countless times, everyone here included. Kenji and Ikuko would argue that if they had all just lived ordinary lives, they wouldn’t have gotten involved in any of this, with everyone here still being safe at home. Tomoe would state that they’re wrong. Maybe they’d still be home right now, yes, but he
wouldn’t. Tomoe would confess that he was once like the five evil ones fighting on the ground below. He was once a terrible person who committed several heinous acts that he isn’t proud of. But when his plans grew out of his control, he himself was nearly killed. The only reason he’s alive today is because of Sailor Moon having saved him, even despite his having been their enemy back then. “I didn’t deserve it, yet you’re daughter… saved my life. And the life of my
daughter, who is down there right now fighting alongside your daughter, and your
granddaughter, to save all of our lives. And I look at what they’re doing, and all that they’ve done, and realize how much better they are than the rest of the world. This world needs people like them, for they aren’t just saving lives, but changing them, affecting them for the better. Your daughter didn’t just save me, she healed
me. Your daughter, your granddaughter, and my daughter, are more than heroes. They inspire hope for everyone, hope for a better world.” Yuichiro would speak up to agree with Tomoe, stating that Rei has both saved his life and inspired him before as well. Naru would join in with her own life having been saved by the Sailor Senshi, many times. Shingo would chime in, declaring that he used to think his big sister was stupid, but now he realizes that she’s not just a hero, she’s his
hero. The one person he most admires. Motoki, Unazuki, and Umino would agree with this as well. Rei’s grandfather would be the first parent to agree, now convinced that Rei kept her secret from him for a good reason. Kenji and Ikuko would be speechless, touched and impressed by these words about their daughter, never aware that she had such an influence on people.
Down below, the fighting would continue. Shadow Moon would grow sick of this frustrating battle and decide to try something new. Seeing the ten civilians still up on the balcony, she would leap up into the air to fly towards them. Seeing where she’d be heading, Sailor Moon would fly up after her, leaving Sailor Chibi Moon and the Golden Knight the ground behind. The ten civilians would see Shadow Moon fly up to them, but Sailor Moon would block her path, clashing her Moon Power Tiare with Shadow Moon’s sword. Shadow Moon would question why Sailor Moon would go to such lengths to protect these people when the ongoing battle below should be her greater concern. Sailor Moon would argue that it’s as she told Shadow Moon before; all of these people are precious to her. She would die before letting Shadow Moon lay a hand on any of them. Usagi’s parents would hear their daughter speak this while defending them and be touched even further. Shadow Moon would retort that Sailor Moon is a fool letting go of the larger battle to save a few worthless maggots, and then would push Sailor Moon backwards, knocking her onto the balcony with the others. As she’d get back up, Shadow Moon would prepare to blast them all, but a “Silent Wall!” would block her attack. Sailor Saturn would appear on the balcony’s edge, shielding everyone with her attack. Sailor Mars likewise would rise up behind Shadow Moon and attack her with the Suzaku Daggers, stopping Shadow Moon’s attack. In this quick moment, Sailors Moon, Saturn, and Mars would all use a combined “Silver Moon Crystal Power Therapy Kiss”, “Death Reborn Revolution” and Mars’s still-unnamed Suzaku Dagger fireblast attack to force Shadow Moon back downward, impacting the ground hard. The three Sailor Senshi would land of the balcony’s edge and turn to acknowledge their loved ones. One by one, each of the ten would give them a wish of good luck, with Usagi’s parents being the last two to wish them so. Happy that her parents are finaly okay with her being a Sailor Senshi, Sailor Moon would leap down with her two comrades to rejoin the battle.
Down on the ground, the fallen Shadow Moon would regain consciousness and order the others to regroup with her. Surrounded on all sides by the fifteen Senshi, the Shadow Senshi would be told that it’s over, that they can’t win at this point, to which the Shadow Senshi would remind the Sailor Senshi that they meant what they said before: They are willing to kill everyone on Earth to get what they want. They would prepare to depart the Moon and retreat to both heal their wounds and later begin their slaughter of Earth. But Sailor Pluto would have come prepared for this, having anticipated the next time that the Shadow Senshi would try to warp away. Using her Garnet Rod, she would use her “Garnet Ball” technique to indefinitely shield the entire area (I say indefinitely as she would have to manually turn it off since the ball could remain intact on its own unless broken by an external force), trapping everyone inside, cutting off the Shadow Senshi’s warping ability. With nowhere to run, the Shadow Senshi would again be ordered to give up and surrender. But the Shadow Senshi would just laugh, asking the Sailor Senshi if they even know how the Shadow Senshi even came to this era in the first place. Though they can’t leave the Moon physically, they have another exit: Time itself. The Shadow Senshi would raise their arms and force open a time portal overhead, through which they would intend to escape to another era, where they could continue to terrorize the Sailor Senshi for all eternity until they get what they wanted. The Sailor Senshi would have to act quickly to stop them from going through the portal, with the Chibi Moon and the Amazon Quartet trying once more to freeze the Shadow Senshi with another “Pink Ladies Freezing Kiss”. The Shadow Senshi, however, would be ready for this attack and, while it would indeed slow them down, it would fail to freeze them solid this time. The Guardian Senshi would attempt to use their Legendary Weapons to stop them, which would likewise slow them down but still not be enough to stop them fully. Sailor Pluto, however, would ask Chibi Moon if she has a Space-Time Key on hand, which Chibi Moon would confirm and give to Pluto. Pluto would then take the key and her rod and bring them together, trying to force the time portal to close. The other Sailor Senshi and the Golden Knight would continue their efforts to distract the Shadow Senshi and keep them at bay long enough for the Pluto to close the portal. At last, with a cry of “Dark Dome Close”, Pluto would succeed at shutting the portal, cutting the Shadow Senshi permanently off from the space-time corridor.
Infuriated over this, the Shadow Senshi would realize that this has become their final stand, deciding that if they are going to die here, they will take down everyone here with them. Channeling all their energy together as a group, their individual humanoid forms would break down and converge into one giant mass of blackness, intending to consume everything and everyone nearby in a massive suicide attack. Intimidated by this sight, the Sailor Senshi would all gather together, preparing themselves for what is to come. Whilst gathering together, Venus’s Byakko Kunai and Mercury’s Genbu Shield would come in contact with one another, causing the two weapons to glow. Jupiter would recall seeing this happen before when the kunai touched her Seiryuu Sword back when they fought Typhos and Shadow Senshi together. Inspired, the Guardian Senshi would place all four of their weapons together, causing all four to glow with more power than ever. This would further inspire all fifteen Senshi to combine their attacks together to finish off the Shadow Senshi for good. As the black shadowy mass would raise upward (with its eerie presence giving off an unsettlingly familiar feeling of chaotic terror to the Sailor Senshi), the four Guardian Senshi would prepare a combined attack from their four weapons brought together, the four Outer Senshi would likewise join the three Talismans with the Silence Glaive for their own unified attack, the Sailor Quartet would prepare an “Amazoness Jungle Arrow” attack, and Sailor Moon, Sailor Chibi Moon, and the Golden Knight would prepare a combined attack of their own. When the black shadowy mass would shoot down towards the heroes, the four unified attacks would all be fired, striking back the mass in a tremendous array of colorful energy. The two forces of good and evil energies would collide, trying to force back each other, until the force of evil would finally give way to the energies of good, being utterly annihilated in a brilliant explosion.
However, said explosion would rock the Moon Castle, causing the balcony to break loose from the building, bringing down all ten civilians with it. As they would fall, the nine Sailor Senshi and Golden Knight of the present day would leap up towards the falling debris to catch all of them:
- Sailor Moon would catch Ikuko
- The Golden Knight would catch Kenji
- Sailor Mercury would catch Shingo
- Sailor Venus would catch Naru
- Sailor Mars would catch Yuichiro
- Sailor Jupiter would catch Motoki
- Sailor Saturn would catch her father
- Sailor Uranus would catch Rei’s grandfather (much to his disappointment, which would confuse Uranus)
- Sailor Neptune would catch Umino
- And Sailor Pluto would catch Unazuki
In the aftermath (at a point after the Sailor Senshi would have explained almost everything to the ten civilians), the Christmas Eve party for Hotaru would commence at the Tsukino house with everyone invited, including the ten civilians and Chibiusa’s team (so, yeah, there would be 25 people all in one house). A quick montage would show a bunch of things happening at the party: Games, laughter, fun, etc. It would be Hotaru’s first ever very merry Christmas. And afterward, the present day Senshi would say their farewells to Chibiusa and the Quartet, who would return to the 30th Century through the same door they came through: the Space-Time Door inside the Moon Castle. Upon their departure, however, no one would take notice of a small orb of light that would flutter out of the door just as it would close.
And back in the 30th Century, Princess Small Lady and the Quartet would return to the party from whence they came. King Endymion would approach his daughter and indicate that his gift to her is about to step out from the doorway in front of her. To Small Lady’s utter delight, entering the room would be a handsome young man dressed in white clothes: Helios.
Merry Christmas, Small Lady.
Merry Christmas, Hotaru.
Merry Christmas to everyone! (In hindsight, this post would have been far more appropriate had it been posted in December )To be concluded...
