I did once, when I was about twelve or thirteen. I wrote about how much I liked Sailor Moon, what the series meant to me, and I drew her a picture. I never did hear back from her, though.

I sent her birthday and Christmas cards one year but never a letter.

I'd love to do this someday, but I'd like to write my message in Japanese, so she'd be able to read it. :)

Maybe that's why I didn't get a response - my letter was written in English. ^_^'

Of course, I thought that she had a personal translator.

You would think so (in fact I always figured she did), but in one of her punch comics in the manga rerelease she talked about how she was sad that she wasn't able to read what letters that weren't in Japanese said. Guess it never dawned on her to hire one. :P

Well, at least she got to enjoy my drawing (if she got the letter, that is). :)

Here's said page: http://missdream.org/wp-content/gallery ... 21/054.jpg

Actually she only specifically mentioned Russian fanmail, but she only mentioned Japanese when she said what she needed it translated into so it most likely still goes for every language. There was nothing said about whether she actually has a translator though, so maybe she does. ^_^' She appreciates (and even keeps!) every piece of fanmail regardless though, so I'm sure she loved your letter whether she had someone to translate it or not. :) She especially loves ones with drawings and/or pictures of people too, which means you actually sent her her favorite kind of fanmail. :D

I don't know if they did or not, but even if they did is it really trustworthy? ^_^' I mean didn't Mix rewrite a lot of her interviews in addition to making it seem like they had interviewed her themselves? :P

^ Well, that's cool. Come to think of it, I don't think she can understand English. Doesn't she need an interpretor whenever she does interviews in English?

Still, I'm glad if she at least saw and appreciated my letter/drawing. Of course, that's if the address I used was correct...

Maybe I'll try to send her a fan letter, but maybe just with pictures and drawings and stuff. I can write my name in Japanese, sorta.

Never have... but what's her address?! Would love to send her something... and hook-up with a Japanese teacher to help translate it for me! That would be awesome!

Naoko can't speak any English. She talks about her need for English interpreters whenever she visits America extensively in her liner notes from The Cherry Project.

Also, here is her mailing address should anybody want to send her fanmail:

Takeuchi Naoko
Nakayoshi Editorial Department
PO BOX 91
Akasaka Post Office
Tokyo 107-8652
JAPAN

Awesome! Thank you! Where did you get this tho?! It probably was on older sites years ago I've seen but how recent is this address? Going to see if there any Japanese professors at the college I work for.

Once it reaches Japan, is the address "translated" into Japanese?

I think the Japanese postal service can read that address w/o problems? :)

The address is from the most recent work Naoko published in Nakayoshi magazine for Toki Meca chapter 6, so it's still active. So long as Nakayoshi is in business the PO box will work - they are always accepting fan mail and such for their manga artists, past and present.

Additionally, Japanese post offices can read English mailing addresses just fine. They normally have someone on staff who handles international shipments who can sort the mail to the appropriate dispatch facilities.

(I send things to Japan with English addresses on them all the time and they get there with no issue)

I wonder if she's ever responded to these letters?

Because Naoko always keeps to herself.

I've always wanted to write her, but I never did. If I do I'll draw fan art but I'm not a very good artist! lol I guess I could always ask my Japanese teacher from high school if she would help me (I have forgotten pretty much all of the vocabulary and sentence structure, and I can only read/write in hiragana and katakana ^^;;; ). My teacher was such a kind woman. I was a horrible student but she always helped me with my homework a lot. She knew I loved Sailor Moon, and when I graduated she gave me the Nakayoshi edition books from the anime 1st and R season! They are all beat up, but they are very special to me :) (sorry for going off topic!)

I started writing her a letter when I was 13-14 in romaji (lolol), but I never finished it. Maybe one day I'll finally send her something :) (probably type it on the computer since my handwritten kanji sucks).

That address seems to be correct!
〒107-8652 東京都赤坂郵便局私書箱91号なかよし編集部 武内直子先生

Or I suppose you could write '様' instead of '先生'....

According to moonkitty.net and Osa-P himself, this is the correct address:

〒112-8001
東京都文京区音羽2-12-21
講談社なかよし編集部
武内直子先生宛

Naoko Takeuchi-Sensei
Kōdansha Nakayoshi Editorial Dept.
2-12-21 Otowa, Bunkyō-Ku, Tōkyō 112-8001

I sent her a formal letter, handwritten in Japanese, just this past summer. Given the large amounts of fan mail she receives from all over the world though, I'm not expecting a response.
