How long might that take to happen? (I'm not up to date on Toonami's airing schedule for its airing of Kai)

They're still in the Freeza arc and just finished airing episode 37. :dead:

From Bristol Comic Con, Sean Schemmel confirmed he finished recording his lines for Buu around 6 weeks ago.

FUNi hasn't confirmed anything yet and seeing as Kai is in the 60s on Toonami right now with 65 airing last night, we probably won't hear anything until the Summer or when Kai hits the 90s on Toonami. :|

From last night's Toonami broadcast:

The "Fight it Out" opening was played in full but that's expected to change next week because Super is what starts the Toonami block now.

EDIT: From last week's Toonami broadcast:

23 episodes huh? I guess they're really getting this show out of the way now that Buu is on TV already and Super's a top priority so we should be looking at 3 sets for this arc with the same amount of episodes for each.

A bit of a shame that we're not getting the Japanese broadcast's Opening & Endings as extras but it's not too surprising since Kaze didn't get them for the French Blu-ray sets either. As for that video commentary extra, FUNi's audio commentaries have been hit or miss (mostly misses) but the video ones have been popping up a bit more in other releases recently so to see it here is a bit of a surprise, especially since we haven't had a commentary extra for anything Dragon Ball-related since their redub of the Dead Zone movie back in 2005 so this better be good.

Apparently we have our answer, from Saturday's Toonami broadcast.

Aliases for the guys from TeamFourStar (of DBZ Abridged fame).

Has there been a commercial release of either the English or Japanese version of "Fight it Out!"? It's very catchy and I'd buy it if it were on itunes.

There is no Japanese version because the song was made specifically for the international cut while the Japanese broadcast cut used a completely different song (& 5 different ending songs).

As for a commercial release, it only got released in France in February 2015 and sadly there is no longer version for Fight it Out & Never Give Up because they were never made.

https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B00SR19TYC/ (also on the French iTunes store)

They also never released the rest of Kai's soundtrack so what you see here is only half of Buu. It does however come with Let it Burn, a song that may have been meant to be an insert song but was never used in the show (according to those who watched the French dub).

That's very weird since both the opening and ending sound like songs that were trimmed down from longer versions for TV broadcast, as there are several points in each song where the lines and tunes abruptly switch to the next in a way that sounds unnatural, as though both songs were hastily edited down for time.

And yet, if that how they're supposed to be, then were both songs rushed through their production composition or something?

You mean on Toonami? That's just their own edited version which FUNi did themselves (and badly I might add), I meant to say that that there's no full version past the first verse that has been broadcast elsewhere & on Buu's first episode (the Toonami edited version started at episode 2, or 100 if we count the rest of Kai).

The other versions are right here and also on France's soundtrack and will be on the DVD & BD sets:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tju56GcuIwM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fecd0wswf4k

The lack of full version though was confirmed by Junear, the singer of Never Give Up, when someone from the Kanzenshuu forums asked him.

http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... 4#p1063834

(Song was made in 2012-2013 when Buu Kai was originally being worked on and he posts "we will make it someday" in 2016? Yeah, right...)

A shame because I like these two songs more than most of what Japan had (their OP song, Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go was the best of their version and DID get a full version released) so it would have been nice to see full versions of both of them.

Okay, those sound MUCH better than what plays on Toonami.

Although, what do you mean by this:

No, Toonami has this thing where they play the full versions of an opening video on the first episode they premiere, then they show the edited versions for the later episodes afterwards. The only exception to this is the first show on the block which used to be DBZ Kai but is now Dragon Ball Super* so that show gets it's full opening shown every week (unless they have short Toonami specials air before it like their Intruder series) while the rest of the shows after Super has them edited.

* - This does not include the 8:00 Adult Swim airing since they show the edited version there and the same happened with Kai when it aired on that time slot 2 years ago.

There is a bit of controversy over last night's episode on Toonami. It's the episode with the Cell Games reenactment video, apparently FUNi had it changed for the broadcast so they reused audio from the DBZ dub instead of the audio with TeamFourStar.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYfX96Lh4sc

The weird thing is that the TFS version actually did air but on Xfinity On Demand.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzdsEsbkbic

It's believed that Toei may have stepped in after the Toonami promo aired last month because they were unaware of those guys being involved which I guess they were against and would explain the Flash pseudonyms they were using when the dub cast was announced.

It might not be included in the DVD & Blu-ray releases of Part 1 coming in April so the best we can hope for is that FUNi botches the first pressing like they originally did with Kai season 1 & also did with episode 1 on Toonami where they accidentally had the Kenji Yamamoto score.

EDIT: Confirmed, someone contacted Toei after the Toonami promo aired.

Dear Kami, I know Toei's prone to getting butthurt but this is just pathetic of them.

Honestly, the DVD/BR version better at least redub it with the same dialogue if only to spite those tight-☹ pencil pushers.

At least they left in the TFS Krillin voice.

Apparently, it has something to do with the TFS VAs voicing the main characters in an official work (with Lani's voice not being used by the fake Krillin)... even though they're clearly not the main characters but random people impersonating the characters. Likeness or not, I think that's a pretty plausible loophole.

Okay, odds are that the audio will be at least properly replaced on the DVD/BR version (unless FUNimation conveniently forgets to replace the copies they have :-P ). I mean, if I wanted to see how the scene was dubbed in the old DBZ dub, then I'd watch the old DBZ dub. Reusing the audio seems pretty... lazy. If nothing else, they should keep the dialogue to honor Team Four Star's original involvement.

Not everybody appreciates the memetic dialogue in official works, especially with Kai being dubbed a lot more faithfully unlike before, and I get that. However, the whole thing is depressing. KaiserNeko, MasakoX, Lanipator and Takahata101 were allowed to contribute to the official release that they support, sit with the popular kids at their lunch table if you will, and it gone unseen on television.
