...Cause you know someone will probably do a topic about the latest newer version of this series, which is premerining this Saturday for the British viewers. Whoo! Look, they have a countdown for their premeiring on their homepage.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/

Though, Canadians will also get a taste of this series April 5th. (Some say that the CBC co-produce it with the BBC.) Apparently, there has not be any word of a US station wanting to air this series as well. Also Sci-Fi Channel declined to air it. :( Or what I heard. Here is CBC's official page of it.
http://www.cbc.ca/doctorwho/

I do hope it will do it's best and CBC won't cancel it due to lack of viewers. All I know, that Xadium might (not like he will actually do it) probably do an MiST of the first episode of Doctor Who to see if this series is worth a look and owning it on DVD.

Though he highly did enjoy the trailer. Heh.

I'm a real latercomer to this franchise. My best experience is with the flash cartoon they put out with Richard E Grant, "Scream of the Shalka." From what I understand, by Doctor Who standards, it was subpar, but since I'd never seen anything like it, I was on the edge of my seat every week.

There's some optimistic news for people in the States, like me, though. According to Outposter Gallifrey's New Series FAQ:

http://www.gallifreyone.com/newseriesfaq.php

Quote:
In the US, for example, we know they have been talking to several cable networks (it will almost certainly not be shown on US public television). Rumors that the Sci-Fi Channel in the USA has been negotiating to buy both the new series and reruns of the original are false; several correspondents have been in touch with people at NBC/Universal, owners of the Sci-Fi Channel, as well as the channel itself, and all of these reports have been denied; there is currently no plan to package the original and new series together. BBC America has indicated to fans that they would like to have the show, but nothing has been set. TBI Buyers' Briefing, a weekly information service sent to over 6,000 worldwide TV executives, this morning features a news item: "BBC scout gets feet under US table: Dr Who US sale being finalised". Among the various items mentioned in the report, which is mostly about the move of BBC Worldwide executive Paul Telegdy from London to the US, is an impending sale of the new series to this, the largest television market for the new show. "One really exciting franchise on both sides of the Atlantic that audiences know and love is Dr Who," Telegdy is quoted as saying in the report. It mentions that he is talking to an "interested party" and is confident it will be sold to a US network in the near future. "We're discussing the ratings potential of the show," he explains. He is likely referring to a cable network, not to one of the over-air broadcast networks. As soon as we know anything further, we will let you know when and where it will be shown.

In the meantime, if there's nothing announced in the next few months, I may just have to find darker means of acquiring the show. Means that I don't normally like to use...

WOOO Bring on Saturday!! I'm just a tad worried about the "Flying Daleks" thing. Oh yeah and his companion is a ex-Pop star who was married to Chris Evans bleh.

I thought they broke up... not like I care, but still.

I'm looking forward to it, I hope it'll be good. I know one of my physics teachers is; He has the countdown on his screensaver and an alarm on his phone. How sad is that? XD

Unless it's really bad, Dr Xadium probably couldn't bring himself to MiST it, though I'm confident there will be a review :)

Heh, you better check the clock on their webpage. Apparently, the countdown goes via your time, not UK time.

This also caused Yahoo NewsGroups being fiddled this morning about it. I also snooped around in their clips. Not bad though. (Though the actor who was playing the "doctor" was pleased of filling a child's dream of his to become a time lord.)

Too bad Canadians will see it in a week. And still no word if the US will see it or not. Anyways, here is a pic for humor....

Uh...maybe I shouldn't say this, but a friend of mine got the first episode via Bit Torrent and sent me the AVI file, yesterday night. I watched a bit of it, and it's cute.

So yeah, gonna watch all of it....take screen captures and make a little review/MiST about it.

Here you go kids. An article based on the first episode of the latest series of Dr. Who.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4385801.stm

Now how will viewers from Canada react to it when it airs April 5? Same thing or not?

Well ☹.
http://www.gallifreyone.com/newstv.php
Outpost Gallifrey wrote:
BBC News has confirmed rumors from earlier today that Christopher Eccleston has decided not to return to Doctor Who for a second series. Press Association, a news wire service, says "Actor Christopher Eccleston has quit as Doctor Who after just one series, it
was announced tonight. The star, who has appeared in television drama Cracker and hit film, Shallow Grave, is worried about being typecast. He is also planning new projects and found filming the series gruelling. In a statement issued through the BBC, Eccleston said: ‘The audience's response for the new Doctor Who has been incredible and I am really proud to be part of it and I hope viewers continue to enjoy the series." Former pop star, Billie Piper, will return in the role of the Time Lord's assistant, Rose, in the next raft of shows. Meanwhile, the BBC confirmed it was in talks with actor David Tennant, the star of the drama Casanova, which is currently showing on BBC3, as a possible replacement for Eccleston. Earlier today, the BBC announced it had commissioned the second series." Outpost Gallifrey earlier reported that the Sun newspaper was leading tomorrow with a story entitled "Doctor Who Quits!" but that it was possibly speculation taken from the Jane Tranter comments earlier today; however, with the news flash on BBC News, and a statement from Eccleston, it now appears to be true. We will keep you posted on breaking news about this development.

CBC has not even airred it and already, their leading man of the new Dr. Who wants to quit. Nice.

I will personally laugh my ☹ off if the 10th or 12th one is a chick. But I guess I knew this will end up on bringing bad news since anything that airs on CBC always ends up cancelling or not even surviving.

Which makes me wonder, after being wed to Mina-chan, how is Dr. Xadium, our current residental time lord at kasterborus.net, doing? I know the couple is cute, but apparently...she tends to fatal things to Xadium that could lead him to losing lives. Meh...love.

Have you seen the Comic Relief '99 Doctor sketch? Because that was more or less what happened - the Doctor recieved a hidden 13th regenaration for good deeds and became Joanna Lumley  funny thing was he was about to get married and unfortunately the fiance was not of the EEky persauion.

I think Minako's just levelling him down from a ridiculously long life to match her merely very long life

Quitting already, WTF? Apparently Eccleston didn't want to be typecast. Smeh...

I've only seen a few episodes of the new series and haven't seen Dr.Who before, (my step-sister who loves Dr.Who won some bootleg episodes @ her weekly fan-club meeting) but I really like(d) it so far.
I can't believe the Doctor ends up regenerating at the end of this new show's season! That was like, his 9th form! If he keeps this up, he'll be dead before the whole series ends!! (He has about 13 lives or so, right?)
One of the things I liked about the 9th Doctor was his jacket, that was cool-looking. :D
BTW, that who is Dr.Who site is great!

Astonishing and unbelievable as it may sound, the Daleks have appeared in an adult movie.

 here is a link with screen shots (probably not worksafe - also naked EEKyness abounds too).

"They weren’t ever intended to be sexual creatures. It’s simple, Daleks do not do porn."

Daleks do not do porn, that should become a meme or something.

I'd make more comments, but it's rather late at night.
We love you, David Tennant.

Oh, some more.
We finally got to see a different area of the TARDIS! His wardrobe is so spirally and cool.
Hitchhikers' reference! "Very Arthur Dent"!
The ending, where Harriet Jones blows up the ship anyway (with the aid of Torchwood, eeeh) really surprised me. From the look of the previews we'll see more of her, and probably not in the favourable light we had before. It all looked like a nice, happy ending, then bam! But do you reckon she was right? She was doing her best to protect her people - after all, the only "good" alien she's met so far is the Doctor. Think there'll be revenge? Oo, the possibilities!

Now YOU, just WAIT. I'm busy... So first things first. Be honest. How do I look?
Um... different.
Good different or bad different?
Just... different.
Am I... ginger?
No, you're just sort of... brown.
Aw, I wanted to be ginger! I've never been ginger! And YOU, Rose Tyler! Fat lot of good you were! You gave up on me - ohh, that's rude! Is that what sort of man I am now, am I rude? Rude and not ginger...

I will be quoting that for days. Am I... ginger?

NO!!! R.T.D ruined that aspect... I am so, so, so ticked at him for that. Also if the Doctor hadn't given that little "talk" the it may not have happened (R.T.D. also allueded to that in the audio commentary that is up on the BBC site.

Anyway I have a rant about that here).

I am still seething at him for doing it. Good episode though, though I'm quickly getting sick of journalists saying "Tennant has made the Doctor sexy!" because personally I think he's scrawny looking, brilliant actor but scrawny looking.
