A friend of mine, in real life, LOVES Sailor Pluto. She wants the Garnet Orb tattoo'd on her. It gave me inspiration to draw it... The orb, not her tattoo LOL. However, she wanted to see what the metal would look like if it were more purple than silver. So, here's my process.

Tools of the trade-
~Prisma Color sketching pencils
~One, now dead, 0.8mm inking pen
~One Ball point pen to compensate for the death of my inking pen (Which is why the lines are so thick. )
~One of those moldable erasers
~Scissors (I made my own stencil.)
~Prisma Colored Pencils.

Here's my process. I thought it would be fun to take photos of it as I finished certain steps.

I had originally sketched it out, but it looked bad, so I scrapped it and used it to make stencils.. I this is after stencils~

Image
I decided this was good enough to ink.

Image
All inked, albeit poorly, and ready to color.

Image
Mapping out and beginning with my darkest shades first.

Image
More shading

Image
Mapping and shading the next shade

Image
Done with that shade. Protip... erase your dang pencil marks before coloring ;~;

Image
Next shade.

Image
Last two shades. Now, to the cone.

Image
The metal is complete; started on the gold orbs

Image
Lower gold orbs.

Image
Finished.

Image
From another angle.

Yay!

Looks good! I like it!

Did you do it all free-hand?

I looked at this image on wikimoon as a reference for some sort of accuracy, lol. Otherwise, yes.

Edit: Now, I'm realizing where I messed up...

Using spray guns can express the metallic feel better than colored pencils, but it still looks good considering that you're just using colored pencils to create the effect. :)

I'm not that dedicated to art to invest in such a thing. Though, I could have painted it. However, I do not own silver paint, only gold. If When I do decide to draw, I am a pencil person, really.

I did get this pretty kickin' water color set that was originally $45 USD for $3. IT WAS /COMPLETE/ AND \PRISTINE\. i didn't question it.

What a bargain! :oh: And yeah, water color can also express the texture of objects better. BTW, since you're a pencil person, there're also special colored pencils which can produce water-color effects. :)

I showed to artist Al-chan. She gave you props on coloring and shading.

Já... Ég elska þá.

My only draw back is I spend 10-20 minutes matching colors until I'm satisfied.

What language is this? Polish? Swedish? Norwegian? Icelandic?

I think I know what it says regardless. Something around the lines of "Yeah, I love them." XD

Nice art.

I own an expensive watercolor set, but quite frankly I prefer acrylics.

You have to be gentle while using water colors, the light comes from the paper itself, and you have to wait until the water dries to add more color.
