I am in general against Western production of Japanese properties. I do not like cartoons at all, most animated tv shows done by Disney are terrible looking, compared to their movies. Some of these stuff about Disney Sailor Moon live actions were nothing but urban legends anyway.
I don’t think it was urban legend when Naoko confirmed in ROLA magazine she had these proposal came to her!

This is one thing, but we have all heard a lot of unconfirmed stuff on cast and stuff. Proposal is one thing. cast is another. Disney has had so many projects that were considered but never passed writing, yet alone cast ...

I used to want Disney to make a live action Sailor Moon movie but not anymore. Especially after what they're doing for the upcoming live action Little Mermaid. The only way I'd be okay with it is if Naoko was heavily involved and had script approval, cast approval, and did the costume designs.

Totally, the cast and even the animated movie's plot change was terrible.

I am very glad that Disney dosen't have control over Sailor Moon. I hope no Western company gets their clutches on Sailor Moon. As much as I question Naoko Takeuchi's decisions at times I do respect her love for her series and characters and especially because you know if the woke cult gets control over Sailor Moon they would do something like that woke She-Ra series. They will do a entire campaign dumping on the former series calling it misogynist and calling Naoko Takeuchi an internalized misogynist for liking beautiful women in her works and appealing to the male gaze etc. Every character would be a woke "diversity" stereotype and if Mamoru is included at all he will be either an idiot or an evil male etc. Hell knowing them I could imagine them making a woke Mary Sue to get with Usagi and Usagi will probably a woke masculinized caricature.

I could see them maybe changing Rei from being Shinto to a Muslim and her doing a daily Sailor Says lecture on Islam.

In fact I could see them just turning Haruka into a transman. Thus S.O.S. will finally get their Prince Uranus story come true.

What are they doing to the live action Little Mermaid?

And how would it be any worse than what they did to Sleeping Beauty/Maleficent , Alice in Wonderland, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, and especially Aladdin?

To Disney: why not sailorize all the existing Disney princesses in a Sailor Team instead?
I mean artists have been doing Fanart of that now for decades haha
I've seen such fanarts before & hence was aware of them - too bad Disney isn't or doesn't take the cue from them. *sigh*

Those are actually what she's done for PGSM. lol

I think of all the life actions done in this time and I thank god they never did it.
Sry in Advance that this is partially OT but, in comparison, I actually found the "Battle Angel Alita" Movie way better than what they did with "Ghost In The Shell" (although I wish they hadn't given her these huge Puppy Eyes. :mischief:).

@sapphire91 I know, I know, that's why I specifically said it's Off Topic.

I was talking about the 90s Disney live-action films. Not that I like them now

They made Ariel black. I thought the live action Aladdin was good.

And that matters because?????

And no the Aladdin movie was terrible. The songs especially Prince Ali were god awful recreations of the original, the original song “Speechless” clashes so badly with the rest of the songs and sounds like a generic new 10’s power anthem pop song, they turned Aladdin into a self centered asshole, created a new female character so Genie could have a love interest, made Jafar lame, and they genuinely thought having Jafar make Iago into a bigger bird was somehow an acceptable substitute for Jafar turning a cobra, and they changed it so Aladdin doesn’t save the day by being clever but the day is saved because the Genie deliberately misinterpreted a wish.

But I didn’t go into Aladdin expecting to hate it. Deciding to hate The Little Mermaid because of a race change is plain stupid and pretty racist if I’m being honest

I'm sorry but even I dont watch Disney much but I know that they create opportunity for series. If anything, Disney would help Sailor Moon, more than Toei ever could for sure.

A live action adaptation Sailor Moon would be a good idea if it is put in the right hands. They have the budget to do so. They most likely wouldn't base it in Japan though and make the cast a diverse group of girls which is also fine and definitely a positive sign to girls of all racial backgrounds who want to become a Sailor Senshi.

Just need to find a director who loves Sailor Moon and not too much executive meddling. It's not like the manga plot is revolutionary or complicated and the story itself is just like a fairy tale.

If they don't do live action, one of their animated films would be nice to see.

I mean if Disney already partners with Ghibili...maybe one d...

Nevermind...

I'm not racist, I have a sister in law that's black and a nephew that's biracial. All I'm trying to say is that Disney made a woke move by blackwashing Ariel just cause diversity. This Halle Bailey chick can't even sing. If Ariel has to be black why couldn't they have gotten someone talented to play Ariel like Zendaya? And yes I agree about Jafar they turned him into a pussy.

What.

She's literally a musician backed by Beyonce of all people, like...?

And using "pussy" to refer to men, classy.

I think it is better if Jupiter is better portrayed as Black and Pluto as a Gypsy/Indian in a western live-action.
