oh yeas, I know the story of altering names so it would sound like spanish bad words (kagome, chi-chi), but its kinda funny how the changed Pluto to Plut but keep "mamo-chan" lmao
"Plut" still pronounces like "Pluto" in Japanese, hence Takeuchi isn't aware of the change, but the pronunciations of "Mamo-chan" & "Mamoru" are pretty different in Japanese, & we know that "Mamo-chan" MUST be there no matter what.

Yesterday I was checking an interview with the Latin actors and they were commenting about the name’s controversy. And they basically confirmed that Naoko was the one requesting name changes.
Not that we didn’t know but still interesting. By the way they mentioned that they recorded in their homes due to the pandemic.

As you mentioned I think she hasn’t noticed yet. The communication errors might also be a plausible theory in the morning I was checking the movie with subtitles and Honey Moon Theraphy Kiss is subtitled as “Dulce Luz de Estrella de las Sailor SCOUTS.”
I think the instruction was “use the old names of the attacks, period.” And the translator did just that .
the dubbed version is correct as they replaced scouts with guardians.
I think Takeuchi shouldn't have intervened into the local dub productions in the 1st place, but then understandably she might be concerned w/ quality control, which ironically leads to degradation of dub qualities. *sigh*
Currently watching and them having the honorific and the Quartet not translating the attacks is really throwing me off and jarring. It doesn't sound natural or flow who decided this

oh i am watching the swimming anime free with kid and in german and they translated the chan in -lein Dx thays worse than keeping the chan xF. ieven in season 3 i didnt get used to .
It has to be and I enjoyed the movies tho, I do agree the pacing seemed abit rushed and I wish they had expanded on some points but I enjoyed it overall and the transformations were beautiful, the only thing I didn't like use practically the overuse of Moon Gorgeous Meditation stock footage they could have just made those real time attacks but other than that I enjoyed it

At least Moon Gorgeous attack is quite short in this movie. We don't have to wait for Sailor Moon to knee down and the stage-out and many things...
Hold on a second! Why didn't they add real background to those attacks!??
Heads up- Sailor Moon Crystal is coming to netflix on July 1st. It’s now listed when you search for it too. I use US Netflix so I’m not sure about other regions.
Netflix US have just put the information ahead but if all goes well everyone will have Sailor Moon Crystal.
French dubbing was done anyway basically for Netflix, but also for other labels.

Yeah, leaving the attacks untranslated was bizarre. With the insane pacing of the movies there's practically no way to come out of it understanding what the hell their attacks mean or even what the names of them were on a first viewing.
I think the Crystal/Eternal JP voice actress for Uranus is doing a great job, but I can't help but wish there was a fandub of Ogata delivering the line in World Shaking in the movie. Ogata's voice is as iconic with Uranus as Kotono for Usagi, IMO, and with the amazing echo and stronger delivery in Eternal, I think Ogata's version would have given people chills.
