First week sales of SM Eternal:
Limited DVD sold 1857 copies
Normal DVD sold 1317 copies
Limited BD sold 4772 copies
Normal BD sold 1087 copies

Total 9033 copies

Eternal Bluray/DVD sales are the highest of Crystal series despite its poor box office perfomance
It's almost as if Eternal performed poorly at the box office because there was a spike in coronavirus cases at that time?! Imagine that!

Not only are these numbers significantly better than any of Crystal's previous physical sales, it's also several times more expensive than any of the previous volumes... I guess Eternal has gotten good word of mouth even if it didn't perform well in theaters. That's reassuring news because despite Eternal's flaws, it is so far the best entry that the series has had to offer since 2014, and it should be rewarded for that effort.

I'm just still hoping Crystal/Eternal is just Toei prepping a whole new series after the end.
With the name recognition of Sailor Moon, a new story, and the budget they give Precure we could have something amazing.
With how Toei/Naoko always seem to be perceived as butting heads over money and rights, it makes me worry it won't ever happen.

It is good if disc sales are proving lucrative for them, hopefully, this does mean Stars will follow soon behind.

I think you are going to be disappointed, but dreams are free.

Probably has more to do with Naoko's publishers bumping heads with Toei than her but you never know these days. She could be the Queen Beryl at home giving orders.

I think we are gonna get something good though. The Eternal film made some profit in Japan even if it wasn't a box office smash, (which was expected anyways) it still allegedly made a decent profit by the end of its run for at least one of its films, The BR/DVD sold good as we can see (to about a million on the first week), and we need to add in the licensing deal for not one, but two movies, and the entire Crystal series on Netflix, cause I am sure Toei charged an arm and leg for all these things.

I at least speculate that we have the ONA version of Crystal because of either a mistake OR the fixed version is priced too h-a-f to license by Toei, and Netflix may not want to shell out more money just yet (just my speculation), either way, I am sure the series made the costs of production and advertising back and more, and let's not forget the figures and other merch sold or about to come out. The Eternal movies are just long commercials and there is a lot of merchandise that will be snatched up including new FigureArts and Propilcas that I know Sailor Moon collectors won't be able to resist spending money on.

And there is the potential (if the show is still doing well, which the movies have) for Netflix to pay more money possibly to be able to stream the Stars movie or series...whatever the "company" decided this time.

I think it has more to do with Viz having exclusive rights on the fixed version. In the end of the day Sailor Moon in USA is still troubled. Netflix got draft Crystal, while VIZ ruined the video for the first three seasons of the 90s show and missed on Eternal.

Actually Eternal movies are far cheaper than the previous Crystal seasons since this is just one volume… the first 2 Seasons were 10 different boxes ( the BD limited edition which were amazing editions were expensive AF… 6500-7500 each box) so you had to spend like 65.000-75.000 yen to get the first 2 seasons. Season 3 were 3 volumes 8800 each so 26.4000 the whole season.

Wow… that’s over 500 euro for a poorly animated ONA show. The corrections don’t justify the price.

In 2014, the Japan Times reported that the franchise had raked in an estimated $13 billion in revenue from worldwide merchandise sales as of 2014 — before the reboot had even premiered.
That's outdated information. So it would be around may be $15 to $20 billion by now?
