Her name is Alice Caymmi. She released a new album today, and one of the tracks is a rendition of the first Brazilian opening theme of the show.

The melody of Moonlight Densetsu actually suits a Latino-/Latin-American-style arrangement & rendition pretty well. :)
This probably would have played out pretty differently if the singer was from another Latin-American country, since Brazil and Spanish-speaking Latin America aren't much alike when it comes to music. This rendition clearly has influences of funk carioca, which is pretty much a Brazilian derivative of Miami bass. :P

It still sounds Latino to many non-Latinos like myself, just like many non-Asians can't distinguish between different Asian cultures. lol I also suppose the music culture in Miami is also influenced by the Latino one? :)

I don't know but I wouldn't be shocked, since there are so many latino immigrants living in Miami. haha

I prefer the original version from the 90’s (cannot stand funk beats), but, hey, she is bringing visibility and love to the franchise. ::love::
