I think TOEI and Bandai should have been more honest to Naoko that they did not like her plans for Stars so that they can scrap the story plans/ideas she suggested sooner so the two parties can part amicably.

Naoko does like the anime stars but did not like that the ideas she gave to the anime staff did not materialize and the treatment of the higher-ups of TOEI and Kodansha to her, I think the Stars manga would have been less rushed if the Higher-ups of TOEI and Bandai had been honest to her earlier regarding the anime incarnation of that arc.

The manga of Sailor Moon is more of a seinen type of manga.
This is why sometimes demographics don't make sense. Sailor Moon although a Shojo manga but it acutally contains DBZ-like power level but you actually have to understand it so it may make sense like a Shonen Manga:
-Queen beryl first as I know is Mountain Level maybe but she has insane MFTL and hax
-After Queen Beryl, we have Death Phantom is literally like Frieza/Cell/Majin Buu with hax, Death Phantom is solar system level in Manga
-At the final arc, Naoko freakin buffed the characters before ending. Galaxia is basically a god of destruction.
Every characters are op as hell arc after arc.

About how stupid demographics are, here are some example:
-Crayon Shin Chan and K-On are Seinen... wtf (Check wikipedia)
-One Punch Man is seinen, but I also read and watch it and it just generally a generic shonen comedy, not extremely brutal, no psychology,...
-AOT and Chainsaw man is a shonen Manga, exepct you know it isn't like Shonen, both of them has a TV rating like R-15 when adopted the whole manga details.
-Death Note is shonen but characters generally psychopaths and a lot of social issues, the Anime got a R-15 rating also
-Original Yugioh is a Shonen Manga, but it actually brutal brutal, season 0 Yugi is a freakin Psychopath killer. Duel Monsters anime literally cut some manga details to not make it looks like a Season 0 sequel and here comes the G-rating of the Anime to suit shonen jump airing standards at that time.

Actually, Stars was influenced by Devil man and Cutie Honey.

Thx for the info :) - so I guess it's only those Western countries, most notably the US, which haven't got Stars on TV.
They didn't get Stars because Toei didn't make the series' license available in the US, even though Cloverway (their North American branch, which actually managed to sell Stars to Latin America) tried to buy it and even told fans back then.
I guess Toei was afraid Stars would ruin the series' reputation in the US. Fans theorize it was the same in France, but I think one member here once said by the time SuperS was airing, the childrens' TV show that aired Sailor Moon ended and the rest of the season was only available through VHS before reruns in other channels. So, I guess that was just bad luck and not censorship.

All I know is their dub was based on the French one, but I have no idea if they stopped after SuperS or prior to that.
Their (godawful) dub ended at SuperS. They had the exact same censorship as and the characters' names were in line with the French dub. Chibiusa became "Camille" in the French dub, and the Hungarian one adapted the name into "Kamilla."

So, that is why we had Irwin Dolls Sailor Stars website in the first place back then.
Where can I see it?

EDIT:
Oh, found it. They apparently looked up episode summaries to come up with character descriptions.

But I wonder why the DIC logo was in a merchandising site from 2001? @MementoNepenthe do you know why? Did they still hold rights for Sailor Moon back then?

DiC still held the license to Classic and R until around 2003 or 2004 this is how they were able to sublicense the home video rights to ADV.

The DiC logo as it were dates back to Toonmakers proof of concept pitch and was still used in the Cloverway era

Which makes me thing the logo was something Bandai or Toei came up with for American licensees to use.

This very same logo was used on Brazilian and Latin Spanish dubs and merchandise.

The interesting part is you can also see the European ribbon logo in the end of the last Brazilian TV spot in this video, preceeding the American logo.

Then yeah I’d say it was definitely something Toei or Bandai came up with for the international market

Because it has the type of humor and satire that only adults could fully appreciate.

This is simply due to Japan’s more lenient rating system in comparison to the West’s. In Japan kids are expected to mature faster and parents don’t baby/coddle them nearly as much, by first grade they’re already assigned individual classroom chores.

I guess Toei was afraid Stars would ruin the series' reputation in the US.
Why? Because the season itself was so bad? :P

I see you're joking, but handling the Starlights and Haruka and Michiru's more overt relationship would be real trouble.
In Italy, there was a psychologist affiliated with a right-wing political party who was always targetting Sailor Moon for its female protagonism and its "impact on boys." When Stars premiered back in 1997, she said the Starlights would make the boys confused about their gender, so the italian dub suddenly changed the Startlights to be... The Three Lights' twin sisters. I really doubt that fooled anyone P-:

Well, I guess kids didn't notice :D And even if you are older sometimes you can be tricked, Once you know something it is pretty clear - the moment I realized Zoisite was a man I could have never seen him as female again and it was obvious to me he is not a woman. But before knowing that I never suspected it for all the time I watched it in German :D

Actually, they made that change over the course of the dub instead of beginning with that already in mind. Hence why I doubt people got fooled

Confused about their gender? That's like saying a kid would be confused if they were an actual Power Ranger.

I know in the West, the color ranking of the Power Rangers was very exclusive because the geek was blue, the pretty girl was pink, the tomboy or tough girl was yellow. So as a kid on the playground your color denotes your popularity. Also if you weren't popular you were either a putty patrol member or a monster.

No way in hell a boy would be a Sailor Scout on the playground. They were automatically Tuxedo Mask or someone from a whole different anime like Dragon Ball Z since most considered SM a girl's cartoon.

I guess not only do we have to be worried about kids catching “teh gay” (oh the horror! /s) if exposed to queer couples such as HaruMichi and KunZoi, we now also have to worry about them catching “teh trans.”

Conservatives are a riot, reminds me of those Karen Soccer Moms back in the late 90’s who were afraid Pokemon would turn their kids satanic.

Kids could already see past their “cousins” bs, because the Cloverway division of Optimum was so incompetent they actually forgot to edit out the romantic contextual animation.
