No thanks, between being force to choose this version or the Tokyopop version (to add to the Eternal version or a personalized scanlation version) I'll stick to the Tokyopop one, thank you

She should've completed the manga some years ago. There are so many gaps that it looks like an early storyboard or a draft instead of a real comic.

I've seen Brazilian fans saying they're tired of waiting for Princess Naoko-hime to approve the Brazilian version of... the Eternal Edition, which was announced before the pandemic.
I just can't. The revival by Netflix finally managed to get Sailor Moon some attention from the younger otaku crowd in Brazil after years and years of being a dormant franchise, but this SICK lady ruins everything again because she likes to make things difficult for her foreign fans.
Or, better saying, her FRANCHISE's fans. I don't think the control freak has a lot of love going for her these days.

Can relate.
In Spain they announced the series on DVD a decade ago and the manga also before the pandemic and it seems that Naoko keeps saying no because the colour for the covers is not absolutely the same.
I don't know if she's asking for a lot of money for the licenses, if it's not worth it for them to release it here or what the reason is but fans are already tired.

Naoko was really quick to approve the english version along with the italian, french and german ones. Does she consider she won't make enough money with a portuguese & spanish edition?

I'm sorry, it may be sound hateful but it seems she doesn't care about the little or the long-term slow income she gets from other countries.

If memory doesn’t fail me, it was discussed here that she was reluctant to release the anime in Latin America because she believed it wouldn’t sell.

But I cannot corroborate the information and nor am I passing judgement. It is simply something I may have read.

Back in 2013/4, PNP explicitly told JBC (Brazilian publisher) that Brazil is a small market for manga, therefore not a big source of income and because of that, they would have to release their shinsouban exactly as they wished. That's what the editor in chief told fans.
@MementoNepenthe, you live in a first-world country where approvals don't take that long. Where Sailor Moon isn't a property which was overshadowed by Cardcaptor Sakura until a few years ago. And Naoko's management issues are a huge playing factor on that.
I respect your opinions and I regard you as one of the best members on this board, but you would probably think the same about Naoko in my place.

If you called her incompetent or unreasonable or greedy or something along those lines, I might not necessarily agree with you, but I would understand where you were coming from. But calling someone "sick" implies mental perversion; in other words, you're saying Naoko is intentionally difficult because she gets off on creating problems and making people suffer, which I feel is a rather unkind assessment. I doubt Naoko enjoys giving licensees grief; she's just very particular (though this is confusing since she approved that heinous Viz dub R movie cover) and not equipped to handle an international IP at the level of micro-management she supposedly employs.

Although I agree that it’s wrong to call her sick or a control freak (I do not think we should judge anyone), my understanding is that JBC had to create a luxurious version of the manga to gain her approval.

I also believe that she may be wrong about Brazil being a small market for manga; if memory doesn’t fail me, the manga market there is quite respected and “Sailor Moon” became a bestseller in Brazil and it hit the list of bestselling books the year it was released in the country—isn’t that true?

Yeah, that's true.
I think PNP holds this opinion because Brazil's currency isn't something that compares to euros or dollars. Our income probably isn't steady enough for them.
But, someone who pretty much destroys everyone's experience by shoving honorofics in translations of every dub and subtitle deserves judgement.
Eternal was the first time this happened in a mainstream anime property. She made history in the worst sense ever, sorry.
I was harsh and even rude on her, but I'm pretty sure that if some American book author asked their translators to include Mr/Mrs/Ms in foreign translations, people wouldn't be as willing to shield them. This is ignorant as hell.
