For me, the biggest issue was the episodic nature of the story. Like you could clearly see "OK, this is where a chapter/episode break would be." The only way they could've fixed it was to just turn it into a TV series and flesh out the episodes a bit more. Because truthfully it did feel like one...

I quite like it, especially looking back and being able to tell exactly who directed which episodes based on their style.

Thanks for the info! I wasn’t sure about Viz’s track record for complete series on Blu-Ray, I just knew they had released InuYasha complete on DVD before. I probably should’ve also waited for the complete InuYasha series on Blu-Ray before buying each individual set but oh well.

Dang... not sure if I want to drop money on this since I already have the Madman releases of seasons 1-3, plus the collector's edition of the entire series. What are the chances that Viz will release a complete series set?

I believe Sailor Moon Center released Laserdisc rips a while back.

I don't believe so, because I think the 4:3 movie masters were transferred from the laserdiscs which all had heavy frame blending.

I love it! I love the cel colors. I think you might have to selectively adjust some colors in specific scenes more than others, to prevent the look of a blue/green overcast, but for the most part I think it looks great!

Yes, the "recap" part of each episode looks different from episode to episode, even if it's the same stock footage. So you have to compare exactly the same episodes if you want to look at the Japanese DVDs vs Itaian DVDs. Also, the masters were given on betamax tapes, so the capture process also...

I feel like they must be lost somewhere. If they had it readily available, would they have re-scanned it like they did with the movies? That's a good question. Would they spend the time to remaster all 200 episodes and do they believe anyone would buy it? I feel like if Sailor Moon Crystal did...

It's the opposite in the 90's anime. Usagi's hair is darker and more golden while Minako's is lighter and more platinum, whereas Haruka's is more sandy. The film scans and how they're color graded also have a lot to do with how colors are perceived. They're not always true to how the colors are...

The inconsistent packaging really bugs me. I really hope if Viz has the rights to release it on Blu-Ray that they'll have it in a chipboard box like the other Blu-Rays.
