Are there couples you ship in one version of SM but not the other?

Basically, do you ship Minako and Rei in the manga but not in the 90s anime? Perhaps Motoki and Makoto in the anime but not in the manga? Maybe Mamoru and Usagi in PGSM but not the anime?

I ship Mamoru and Usagi in the manga but not the anime whereas I ship Haruka and Michiru in the anime but not the manga. What about you all?

Manga and Crystal MamoRei while they do share similarities like 90’s MamoRei, don’t have as much interactions as they do in the old anime plus they dated in the latter. I do like the one comment in the manga about how Rei would be more Mamoru’s type though.

Felt that they had more of a chance in the 90’s having already dated, both love to tease Usagi, both have psychic dreams that put fear into them that I felt connected them, both can be serious with a bit of a goofy side that’s brought out of them through Usagi, both parents weren’t around for different reasons that gave them some mature qualities,both are loner-types,a bit of the same vibes etc.

I definitely agree with all you've said. I think it's a shame Mamoru didn't really interact with the girls (sans Usagi and Chibiusa, obviously) in either version. When he did, it was pretty cool. Rei and Mamoru should've been explored more in the 90s anime.

I don't really ship 90s Rei & Mamoru but I do agree the journey from frenemies to lovers is more interesting than the dull manga/Crystal counterpart. If only their relationship had been handled better from the Black Moon arc onwards...

Can you and @MamoRei4Life make your points as to why it makes sense for Endymion to haunt Mamoru and say he has to stay away from Usagi? Because I've never seen anyone defend this arc before and now I'm curious

Sure. Because of the Black Moon clan invading the past, Usagi and Mamoru's relationship had to mature faster than it did in the original timeline. King Endymion had to test the strength of their bond, so they would be able to overcome whatever challenge the Black Moon clan might have thrown their way.

My mind is now blowing up because this had never occurred to me before. Sure, I still think it could have been better handled, by now that I've seen it from your perspective I can't unsee it. I wonder if my opinions would change if I made a thread asking you lot to explain to me the things that didn't make sense (to me at least) in the 90s anime!

What Starlight said. I’d like to add though that though people still be upset and unsatisfied with the break up arc for King Endy for sending out
those nightmares, it doesn’t make sense to hate on current timeline Mamoru for it as he is not the one to send those dreams plus he technically wont be doing it in the new timeline future since this new timeline allows for them to not have to fight and deal with the Black Moon in their future.

I explained how Mamoru had to distance himself as he knew how Usagi wouldn’t take the threat seriously ,forget all about her own self care which is exactly what happened when Usagi founds out. Girl doesn’t even want to take precautions or least respect his worries enough to ease them. Like I get wanting to be together even if being together may cause you danger but Usagi offered no kind of precautions to take for Mamoru about it and was just like throwing away her self care just so she can be with a guy. Of course Mamoru’s gonna give a damn about her self care and put it above them being together even if she doesn’t give a damn about it it doesn’t change him always putting her safety over their relationship plus him being lonely for the rest of his life. Dude’s been doing that since the 1st season when they’re relationship was more rocky with the frenemies dynamic.

So yes Mamoru should have communicated with Usagi but Usagi’s actions after finding out about the dreams didn’t show that she would take Mamoru’s concerns seriously or do anything to ease those worries in the first place.

There is no short story between minako and Rei ! Rei has a short story and she is with a man actually Kaidou but her father ruined their relationship ! And for minako she had Adonis, he’s from Venus and he was jealous of kunzite and at the end of sailor V Adonis cursed minako. He actually cursed to never find love and it so sad, because she want a boyfriend so bad ! Did you read sailor V ? Minako never fall for a woman actually and I don’t understand why people ship her with Rei, while in 1999 naoko released parallèle sailor moon and they are all married to man, this parallèle sailor moon is stronger than any fanfic you will find on the internet, because it comes from the official author of sailor moon, and no where in the story we see usagi or the other gay actually… michiru and haruka are, but not the others, even usagi asked to haruka if she’s a boy or a girl, because she taught that haruka was a boy, but she was stop her fantasy about haruka when she find out that she is sailor Uranus and reconciled immediately with mamoru.

yes I do love the frenemies things about usagi and mamoru is very unique, they became foes to lovers and sometimes when I see them together I remember when they were foes. Joey and Pacey started as frennemies too and they had the most beautiful love story.
