I hope we actually do get expanded backstories for the villains. Iron Mouse and Aluminum Siren get nothing in the manga, same with Phi and Chi. It would be cool if they included Papillon's child as mentioned in the Materials Collection. I also hope we actually get to see all the Animamates together at least once since there's virtually no interaction between the members of Shadow Galactica in the manga.

I think everyone should take Tomoya's words with a pinch of salt. The only Stars villain fitting that description is Galaxia. I don't think Tomoya would have got enough running time to explore the Animamates unless he had reworked the story.
Another possibility is that he'd sped the action scenes up and filled the gaps with the villains backstories.

Remember, Cosmos is just Crystal in disguise. If I were you I'd be cautious.

I think we’ll have a better idea of how much Cosmos will expand on the manga by the film’s runtime. Eternal was a very compressed adaptation running at 70 minutes per film. The Stars arc doesn’t feel as dense as the Dream arc (I’m not sure about page counts, but the chapters feel shorter), so I can buy what the director is saying if the films are at minimum 10-15 minutes longer. But if there are any changes or new scenes, I’d imagine they’d be like Eternal giving Hawk’s Eye that small moment of regret.

It’d be really nice if we even got a flashback of something like Lead Crow stealing Sailor Coronis’ Sailor Crystal. Like in the perfect world, we’d get to see what all of the Sailor Guardians killed offscreen looked like… But I’m not holding my breath.

I wanna see a backstab flashback scene. Hoping to see Sailor Coccoon and Sailor Mermaid even if they're just a single panel frame like they used to do in the 90s.

Hopefully they've learned their lesson now not to make a straight up page per page adaptation seeing as how the Eternal films flopped so badly. They were doing the right thing with Season 3.

Also hoping they'll release the Cosmos films here locally. But that's only reserved for ultra popular franchises like Jujutsu Kaizen, KonoSuba or One Piece films.

I personally don’t need to see their backstory and I also don’t need to see Sailor Koronis etc. With the evil senshi we’ll already get a bunch of new pretty looking characters. I’d rather let them have personalities and have them interact with eachother like in the 90s. In the manga they are basically just MOTD. I would actually really love it if they keep their personalities from the 90s anime. That way we could recognize them and relate to them, even if they get killed quickly.

I don't think they trust each other enough to have interaction with each other. Remember that they killed their own sailor guardians, "sold" their soul to Galaxia. I think their evil went beyond what prior enemies were.

I think expanding means giving them personality instead of just having them just show up and die by one hit KOs... But that would already be some progress :cthulhu:
Hopefully we get expanded action scenes as well seeing as how demotivated fans are making and uploading stock footage videos these days. That's the one major activities keeping both the franchise and fandom alive.

Let’s hope it’s more of an expansion like Ami’s chess episode with Berthier in Black Moon and less like the Sen/Shi shipping debacle.

Needless to say, if they were to choose any of the arcs to expand on the villains more, Stars is the right choice as it was the only arc besides Beryl in Dark Kingdom where the villains are sympathetic, more than just 1-dimensional cannon fodder and have motivations beyond just “evil for the sake of being evil.”

Galaxia and Sailors Lethe and Mneosyne are some of Naoko’s best and most nuanced villains writing-wise, so if anyone deserves an expansion it’s these 3 as they already have a solid base to build from.

The only Stars villain fitting that description is Galaxia.
Sailors Lethe and Mneosyne are also quite decent for Naoko villians.

I’m just wondering.. if the run time is the same as the Eternal movies and Naoko wants everything 1:1 again then.. what exactly can they do? With the sheer number of villains and constraints placed on these movies I’m not expecting anything too enlightening but we shall see!

Paying for advertising and marketing as early as now. I'm surprised this showed up on my Facebook newsfeed in a market I thought wasn't relevant to anything :usagi: these days.

Hoping SG make it big too. Getting some Blackpink vibes from a few of the songs they sang. There hasn't been much official news since that Rolling Stones article and what's keeping :usagi: active are Ray Mona's rediscovery of Toonmaker :usagi:, Paris Hilton cosplay and that drunken fight at Halloween.

I don’t think Naoko Incorporated or Toei have the know how nor realize the potential to realize Sailor Moon as a big brand overseas. If they did they’d be making sponsorships with Paris Hilton and cashing in on the barbiecore/ Y2K aesthetic. Maybe collaborating with K-POP groups. Outside of maybe Sanrio I don’t think many Japanese companies have much knowledge of how the overseas market works.

If they had an idea of the oversea markets we would have already gotten a Sailor Moon game for the Wii.

They have to know if it's where the bulk of the money comes from for the franchise in sales. They could also be charging ridiculous prices or some silly/restrictive demands.

We have received a number of things in America but it seems mostly based off of the 90's adaption.

Am I the only one who thinks Lethe and Mnemosyne are undeveloped characters? Perhaps I'm wrong, I just remember a generic backstory and Lethe changing her mind suddenly without having a personal introspection.

Furthermore, I remember act 56 being a mess, I don't know what's really happening in Lethe's river and why she's holding the cats... I hope Tomoya has asked Osano about it.
