Was shopping lately and I recently found out a store at my area sells lots of anime goods and in there I found the Sailor Moon Classic Blurays (I'm not gonna purchase it due to quality), but for Crystal, can't seem to find them in stores somehow, which is unlikely considering the store has quite a few outlets, but I do see the classics ones still.

The classics ones (Japan 25th Anni version) are still priced at a pretty steep price  even though its not a full HD remaster. So no way I'm gonna purchase this even though I like it a lot. I personally do not like how they scale up the art and destroying certain details. I am still hoping they'll actually do something about it in 35th and I can finally say: take my money, I've been waiting for so long to get the full set.

But then, a thought ponders which is the crystal bluray, is it like not selling well enough? Since they literally vanished from stores? They are only selling the classics. There's apparently the full collection of Classic too lately from viz, but again, it's SD to HD so I'm still not willing to purchase sigh.

Everything Crystal-related is an absolute mess, except for season 3. It's the only thing that matters.
The rest... Two seasons animated on Microsoft Powerpoint and four trashy, poorly-scripted "movies". ::toast:

No, season 3 was bad too. :nope: Yes, it's the best one from the reboot, but that doesn't make it good. The others just sucked more.

I liked season 3. It's better than the boring seasons of the 90s anime, like SuperS.
Kon knew how to adapt Naoko's chapters and expand on them. Too bad she wasn't allowed to do that in Eternal...

The Sailor Moon Store doesn’t even stock them. They only sell Blu-rays of the classic series, a few musicals, and some copies of the Eternal and Cosmos films. Crystal basically only exists for the fandom—neither Toei nor PNP want to acknowledge that it ever happened. It’s barely even mentioned in official timelines, like some sort of footnote.
The only reason Eternal and Cosmos are still being given any attention is because their limited-edition merch (in very small quantities) sold out. Plus, it’s probably in Takeuchi’s interest to focus on pushing merchandise of the Eternal Sailor Senshi and Sailor Cosmos since she fully owns those designs and doesn’t have to split profits with Toei or Bandai.

The Eternal Sailor Senshi designs with the wrist ribbons that appeared in Cosmos were the ones intended for Tamegai to draw but that did not happen...hahaha.

The single box sets are new released .They been rereleasing the 90s anime by season for the last couple years.

As for Crystal I imagined now.If they are planning to released Crystal.I imagine they will just put all the seasons in one set.

So, they're basically doing what they did to PGSM?
Well, Crystal surely sells less than the original series, but that's not a reason not to offer it for people to buy. It did well enough for Toei to state in their financial reports it left a gap in home video sales after they concluded season 3.
I think Naoko pulls the plug on stuff she feels didn't go the way she wanted. If the live-action show spawned an Act 0 and stage shows, it can't have been a big commercial failure. They probably could still sell merch of it in Japan, but it's left forgotten. It's not even mentioned in the museum.

It sold so well that they don't need to make money off of it anymore!

I think it simply doesn't sell anymore.
People who wanna watch it can still get second hand sets or sail the seas.
It's not lost media.

Well, PGSM is the baby of Naoko and you know the Golden rule about her works - PGSM is still there, you just have to use your imagination to materialize it :P

Well, does she now that Toei has adapted these?

I mean, even in the impossibility 0 chance that Takeuchi goes to another studio for a new adaptation, she can't re-use those Etermos designs (that fully respect her own design) because they are Toei property.
She'd have to alter the designs to a significant amount like what happens with Hokuto no Ken :P

Everything is in our hearts, not in the material world - she's actually a guru of Zen Buddhism or similar Oriental philosophies.

I see that everyone involved in the franchise are hiding Crystal and pretending it never existed. It's mentioned in official timelines.
The museum is the perfect proof of how embarrassed they are about Crystal. In the Animation Room, all three seasons of Crystal are squished into one panel, with just a brief description and a few images of the "best" scenes they could dig up. Compared to the '90s anime and the films, there wasn’t even a panel for each season, and they didn’t show any sketches, designs, or storyboards. It was also the only panel that didn’t have a screen showing the opening or the usual stock footage of transformations and attacks. The message couldn’t be clearer. :wow:

Oh, you're right, I forgot. :-P
