I was a child when in Italy the anime was broadcast for the first time on Italian networks, in the magazine with the list of TV programs I read the title a week before its debut on the channel and I said to myself "finally something new!", The channel went on almost only in reruns ...
Funny because I couldn't pronounce the title correctly not knowing much English.
For me, however, it was an unknown, I did not know what to expect and I did not want to get too excited about something that maybe I would not have been very interested in.
When I saw the first episode it was love at first sight, I liked the protagonist because I was a bit mirroring myself, I am also a bit clumsy and messy, I was conquered by her very long blond hair * - * fascinated by the transformation * O * and mine side full of female pride awoke when I saw a girl transform and fight * w *
No animated series before had had such a strong impact on me, driven by curiosity I looked at the credits and, asking my grandmother, I discovered that the names of the animators, writers and producers were Japanese.
Since then I paid attention to the credits of all the animated series I watched and I realized that I liked the ones produced in Japan more than the Western ones.
Growing up I loved and discovered more about them and the world behind them.
Here Sailor moon has been the incentive to get many Japanese animated series but not only that, a thriving market of gadgets never seen before was born.
Here in Italy many regions have different open-air markets, in those days 50% of the stalls were of toys, all thanks to Sailor moon and power rangers.
For me it was like being in heaven!
Then it was a series that didn't end in the first season, which was very unusual for the times.
