i don't think the franchise need some update like some said, in some aspect is more updated to this time, only the technology, like some said changing somethings from the manga like the sxs plot if we got the manga like it was
the other thing well is because some are to attach to the 90s anime want the exact same
i don't know other fandoms are less attach
like the fulmetal alchemist, or hunter x hunter and now the fruit basket fandom like better the anime that go more like the manga, than some 90s animes fandoms
well and i don't know about continuations
because we got a strange continuation of inuyasha and well it got some hate too
well maybe didnt got so much hate the continuation of sakura but some friends who like it the anime got bored with the new one
the new naruto anime now boruto that is continuation of the anime got some hate too, so a anime of the future with chibi usa i dont know if it will go good

I think to update the franchise they should pull another PGSM, a reimagining of the story. (Though this time NOT just the Dark Kingdom arc)

Do you think Sailor Moon could be a success again, being different from Precure? What could SM offer to today's audiences? Does Precure have any weakness? Is there a niche market for a new Sailor Moon?
Precure's weakness is that it was a franchise made JUST to sell toys, while the same could be said of Sailor Moon to an extent, SM still originally had some creative intent and endevour behind it. First off all it was based on a manga, Precure is not, which should already tell you that Precure is just one giant toy commercial. Though some Precure seasons are more complex than others (Huggto, Heartcatch) it still doesn't change the fact that, on the whole, Precure is more similiar to the Pokemon anime and Beyblade than an actual, traditional Mahou Shojo.

inuyasha and well it got some hate too
Most of the hate towards Yashahime stems from it's decision to make a controversial, pedophilic ship "canon."

they make a pretty cure manga later when the season end
the hate for yashahime wasnt only that, yeah was a thing, but the other hate, was they wanted to know more about the inuyasha characters, and the other thing was that seshomaru daughters are the protagonist
same as some parts of the plot that it isnt develop much now
well it will have a second season
