Is the Sailor Moon fandom really as bad as people think?

There are some toxic weirdos out there, but I think they're the minority. Most people in the SM fandom are polite (or at least they politely tell you to fork off).

A few of the Discord servers can be really unfriendly especially when the admin or server owner act like :kero:.

When you know the server owner is :kero: it's time to leave. :vanish: Of all things that server was about MBTI.

I can see now why an admin here was hesitant in getting into one. It can be a terrible experience if the mods and admins are narcissists or bipolar.

I've been in many forums and the Discord was the first time I've encountered flying monkeys. The best way to handle them is just ignore them. Don't respond, don't reply and most especially don't react.

I've encountered some pretty toxic individuals in this fandom, including on this forum. Like others have said, that's pretty standard for any fandom that grows to this size. Though I must admit, it's always a bit discouraging considering this is Sailor Moon we're talking about. How people watch a show/read a manga about love and bravery and friendship and come out of it spewing negativity and hatred at each other for minor differences of opinion is just appalling to me.

More ::toast: and less :eek: plz kthx

Similar phenomena can also be seen in other fields IRL in both the past & present, where pursuers/followers of a noble, benevolent idea/belief can act in ways contradictory to that idea/belief, sometimes even violently/bloodily, when defending/propagating their preferred version of that idea/belief. The Sailor Moon fandom is just reflecting the situations IRL, hence that's not really surprising.

You have a point. I can think of more than a few examples that fit this, including some that go against the rules to mention here. :P An unfortunate nature of humankind, I guess.

Yeah, that's precisely why I was very careful in my wordings in the above-quoted post. P-:
