　新劇場版の収録のとき、葛城ミサト役は、私がそれまでに培ったもので取り組もうと思ってしゃべったんです。そうしたら庵野秀明監督に「違う。もうちょっと若かった」とか、腰が砕けるようなダメ出しをたくさんもらって（笑）。そこからテレビ版の芝居を目指そうと切り替えました。やはり監督が求めるものイコール観客が求めるものだろうなと。ただ、新劇場版「破」の新しいストーリーに入ってからは、感じたままに取り組みました。「破」は楽しかったな。

I think her voice was fine, but Anno's characterization of Misato was off especially in the last 2 movies.

Yeah, the rebuilds were clearly more in line with the current mainstream anime trend: female characters being nothing more than a harem for the main character. Even Maya Ibuki was used for fanservice purposes.
However, reading this is also a relief to me. Anno didn't do that because he thought it would suit his female characters, he did that because he thought it was convenient within the market's circunstances. Still bad, but not awful to me.
