I finally finished reading the entire novel today and i really enjoyed it. I think this might be one of the best adaptations of the Dark Kingdom arc. I enjoyed how they expanded on the plot of the musical and how the action scenes were changed to make it more dynamic. I already thought the musical was the best portrayal of the SenxSenshi pairings and I thought this novelization improved even further. I especially loved seeing how they all met and how they would spend their time with each other and hearing their differing views on the conflicts between the Moon Kingdom and the Earth. It really breathes new life into these classic characters and it was everything I wish we got in Crystal but sadly never had in it. I do slightly prefer how it was portrayed in the musical that the Four Kings had planned all along to betray the Inners over them being brainwashed by Beryl against their will in the novel. I feel like it would have made their relationship more complex if we saw the Four Kings conflicted over their feelings for the Inners versus their duty to their planet as opposed to them simply being pawns in Beryl's plan.

I do think this is probably the most character development we've gotten for Beryl out of any version of the story and I think the author did an amazing job of humanizing her character and making her sympathetic and tragic. I also especially loved hearing the little tidbits of world building about the Moon Kingdom's society and what life was like there and especially about the other Guadians' planets, which is something I don't think we've gotten in any previous version of Sailor Moon. Though I do wonder how much of this Naoko considers canon or if this is just the author's own thoughts about what the Moon Kingdom was like? The ending was also really well done and emotional and to me it was just as sad and tragic as the ending to the original anime's first season which I've always considered to be the gold star of Sailor Moon finales.

It's probably not likely to ever happen because this feels even more niche than the musicals themselves, but I do wish we could get an official English release of this novelization as I would love to own a copy to be able to read when I wanted to. It's also too bad we didn't get novelizations like this of the other new musicals. Thank you again for your hard work in translating this. I feel like someone should save this all somewhere in case something ever happens to the forum servers again just because I think it's really important to preserve this unless an official version is ever released. As far as I'm aware, this is the first and only full English translation of the La Reconquista novel. Maybe you should try and see if you can contribute your translation to Miss Dream or something? This is just something I don't think should ever be lost to Sailor Moon fandom.

As someone who has neither read the novel nor seen this musical yet, what are the most outstanding differences between the two storylines (beyond one obviously having musical numbers and the other not)?

Also are there other novelisations out there?
