I'm in the midst of downloading the series, and my internet is a little on the slow side (I live in a pretty small town). I'm tired of downloading filler after filer because it's a waste of time for me, and it feels like I just spent two hours downloading nothing. Reading wikimoon summaries to decide if the episode is crucial is too much of a hastle. So can someone refer me to a list of the crucial episodes?

What would you consider crucial? Do you mean episodes where key events happen or the bare minimum of episodes you need to watch without missing anything important? Because there's a difference.

To give you a concrete example: while the Rainbow Crystal episodes are pure filler and you could technically skip over them, if you do, you'll have no idea where the jewels came from later on. So an elaboration of what you consider crucial is necessary.

I mean ones that contribute to the plot, so yes the rainbow crystals I consider crucial. I recall reading a list somewhere. I just seriously can't recall where. But I'm certain it exists. It was set up to where it pointed out episodes of max importance, and then pointed out ones of some importance (such as when moon tiara stardust appeared, or when the senshi's old friends appeared, kind of important stuff like that.) and then it showed what was 100% filler. If anyone can direct me to this list, or direct to me a list, I'd be very grateful.

Well, for the first season, those I consider crucial are:

1, 3, 8-10, 12-15, 22-36, 41-46

Anyone agree or disagree with me here? :)
Yes, I disagree and I think that this will always be a problem for this series, there's little agreement on what counts as filler and what doesn't. Episode 19 is pretty important, and I think you'd be better off skipping episode 3 in favor of things like 6 and 21 simply because they're so good despite not being plot relevent. Character based episodes are more important to me then those about introducing magical powers which could have been presented at any time.

There's no way to say this without unintentionally sounding rude, but you do realize that the OP's criteria is what's important in this thread rather than what you consider important according to your own criteria, right? ^_^'

This isn't a popularity contest. If it were, then about half the episodes I mentioned would've been thrown out because I think they're substandard or just plain suck. That being said, I'll gladly concede to you that Episode 19 is pretty important and its omission was an oversight on my part. However, Episodes 6 and 21 have zero importance to the overall plot and are thus irrelevant, no matter how good they are. Episode 3 is important only because it's the first time Sailor Moon meets Jadeite face to face and learns his name.

Oversight on my part as well. I didn't remember Tuxedo Mask's identity was revealed in this episode.

I can think of only 2 episodes I'd cut out myself. :/ But I think there was a good list somewhere, that highlighted important episodes, even having color-coding for episodes that were important only because they introduced new attacks or transformations.

The OP's criteria is about wanting to skip filler. I'm not entierly sure what OP considers filler so I'm throwing out my own opinions so that they can decide for themselves. Everyone is still free to skip them knowing they don't affect anything later on.

Anyway, I take back the idea of skipping the talk radio episode, but I strongly recommend the dub version of it. It's the one dub episode I've seen that's just outright superior to the original and succeeds in making it far more entertaining, though the addition of the Negaverse soesn't really square with anything else.

I'm of the opinion that all of the episodes are crucial, even if they're filler episodes.

Possible exceptions include the clip-show episode at the end of R and maaaaaaaaaybe the beach episodes.

But yeah, I feel like Sailor Moon actually has a lot less filler than other long-running anime shows (DBZ anyone?) and if you're not enjoying the monster-of-the-day aspect of the anime, perhaps you shouldn't be watching the anime. =/

I guess I just don't really understand wanting to "skip" episodes. I mean, I understand WANTING to skip filler (I've hated my fair share of filler episodes, as well), but you're not getting the whole experience otherwise, and I feel like that's the most important thing.

Also for S: the Outers don't get as much screentime as they should've gotten, so you should watch every episode in S because they're awesome. =P

SuperS has way more filler than is desirable, but I feel like it all pays off, in its own way.

Sailor Stars is, I think, the shortest anime season, so I don't see why you should skip any of its episodes.

Just my two cents. ^_^

Okay, we're all entitled to our opinions.

Woah now. everyone has aspects of the show that they don't like. So what if I don't particularly enjoy watching episodes that bring nothing to the plot? It gets boring and tiring. You don't have any place to tell me whether I should be watching the anime or not. I don't care if someone said, "Sailor Moon is way gay this show effing sucks." You still don't have any place to tell them whether they can or can't watch the show.

Perhaps I should have pointed out in the OP. I have seen the entire anime already. This is a rewatch. I've absorbed all that SM has brought to the table, and now I want to absorb it again, just without filler.

I didn't use the words "you can" or "you can't"...I just said "maybe you shouldn't." Don't put words in my mouth. It makes sense that if there's an aspect of a show that you find boring, then you probably shouldn't be watching it, because you find it boring. It's just logical.

And yeah, I didn't know you had already seen the anime. That kind of changes everything. But why are you asking for a list of "important/unimportant episodes" if you've already seen them all?

If you ask me, the most efficient way to watch the anime without filler is to watch the first episode and the last episode of each season. Or maybe the very first episode and then the very last episode. Depending on how you look at it, the entire series can be considered "filler." That's a stretch, granted, but yeah, the point is, you didn't sound like someone who has already seen the show, you sounded like someone who wanted to watch Sailor Moon for the first time but didn't wanna wade through the "boring" episodes. ^_^ Sorry.

Alright, alright. Sorry for putting words into your mouth. The reason I am asking for this list is because I don't care to see them this time around. And when I'm downloading them, it's difficult for me to recall from the first watch if this episode is under my opinion of crucial. For instance, I had totally forgotten Usagi's first use of the Luna Pen was in episode 3, and I consider that crucial. Sorry for the missunderstanding, man. ^_^'

YES! Please tell me you know where the list is! This is the list I talked about in the OP. I NEED THIS LIST.
