OK but I wonder if he contacted Kon or even Sakai before accepting the job. They both probably would have told him how terrible working on this project is.
Also - as fun as the openings are - the money and minutes should have been spent on the plot.

In 2020, the series received a movie adaptation but since Kon was busy with Eternal, she only acted as a supervisor and the director of the movie was Tomoya Takahashi, himself.
It's highly unlikely that Takahashi didn't know of the hurdles Kon was experiencing considering they were working together on a movie dear to her (she also directed all of the adaptations of the Junjou Romantica series, Hatsukoi's sister series) with both movies being produced by the same studio.
Who knows, perhaps it was Kon who vouched for Takahashi on the job considering he was a newbie at the time, especially when we know Cosmos entered production before Eternal even hit theaters - so Toei wanted to be over with this series as soon as possible.
Perhaps the reason Toei gave him so much budget and leeway on the Openings and stock was to prevent him from abandoning the project because if he did, who would be willing to direct it? Nobody seems to want to be involved with this series in Japan.
As for Kon, she is gonna be the series director for the new Precure TV series of this year, so she's still on good terms with Toei and she didn't get 'fired' as perhaps some would like to believe.
