@Hadibou @Talentless Fool Yesterday I watched a clip from episode 59. I liked the Makaiju's voice, but why it sounds as though the tree were smoking....or was a terminaly-ill patient in its deathbed whilst it told its story to Usagi? The tree was coughing all the time !!!!
Also the voice of An was like that of the Wicked Witch of the East and Ail had nasal issues. :wtf:

Who says you'll get this dub in the Blu-ray box set? You could very well get another dub with the return of the original cast (a hypothesis).
I assure you Kazé is not producing a new dub for Stars. Dubbing a film costs approx. 50000€ in France, 60000€ in Germany/Italy, and 40000€ in Spain, only 160 - 200 minutes, imagine what it costs for a distributor like Kazé (or any Anime distributor) - a distributor that doesn't have the power and resources of Disney or Warner Bros - to produce a dub for a 34-episode season, with a lot of characters in it.
Well.... they can IF Sailor Stars airs on TV because sponsors will pay the production of the dub or a big platform like Netflix. But if a platform pays for the dub, Kazé can't use it unless they pay a large sum of money.
Kazé did it once because either they had the money and thought they would recover the cost or Toei Europe helped to produce it.

I'm not talking about Kazé, I'm talking about a TV channel that broadcasts Sailor Moon. It could very well dub the final season, and the films with the original cast.

Currently in a TV show, Merci Dorothée, there was a teasing of Sailor Moon on the TF1+ platform.

The French dubbing of the four seasons + movie R belongs to Mediawan, not Toei. So if Mediawan wants to dub season 5 and the movies and make a deal with TF1 afterwards, they can.

There is a fact, that Mangas (TV channel) constantly postpones the broadcast of Sailor Moon, they stopped at season 3. And then at the start of the school year they will broadcast seasons 4 and 5. Why delay the broadcast of season 5 for more than a year, if it is to offer the dubbing of Kazé.

Yeah Ogouz tried to make the Doom Tree as an old man suffering lol… He would do the same with Wizeman, making him as if he was an old pervert with weird noises.
And yeah there is no chance they would use the old cast for a new Stars dub. Would cost way too much money for few benefits. And 30 years later, most of the voices would have aged too much, and that’s not even talking about the dead one or the one who retired.

Before passing judgment on the aging voice, if I were you, I would go and watch it on Netflix, you have Emmanuelle Pailly who dubs and still has the same voice as 30 years ago. Sylvie Jacob dubbed Sailor Cosmos and her voice hasn't aged either.

Agnes Gribe voiced Nicky Larson in Private Eyes, and her voice hadn't aged either.

In Sailor Moon's case, only two people died: Francine Laine, Philippe Ogouz, and Claude Chantal, but she was more of a voice actor in Sailor Moon. All the rest of the cast and replacement voices are still operational.

Virginie Ogouz returned to voice acting in Belgium and also considered returning to France.

Ten years ago, the entire team was ready to return; they told us so in a private message on Facebook, and Philippe Ogouz spoke to us in person at Japan Nantes.

We'll see what Mediawan does with season 5, especially since there's a deal with TF1+ based on the show Merci Dorothée.

I don't see TF1 asking for dubbing for four seasons and then going to Kazé. They'll ask Mediawan for cash for all the French versions, so Mediawan will produce them.

Additionally, you have several streaming platforms that produce a French version only for streaming.

For several reasons. It doesn't have to have anything to do with Kazé's dub.

I don't see TF1 asking for dubbing for four seasons and then going to Kazé. They'll ask Mediawan for cash for all the French versions, so Mediawan will produce them.
I don't understand what you mean. TF1's got three options:

1. The cheapest choice: To air the anime with the current french dub. Mediawan's + Kazé's.

2. If TF1 doesn't want to air Stars with the Kazé's dub - I don't get why TF1 wouldn't want to from a business point of view - and if TF1 has the sponsors they'll pay for a new dub production, but it will cost more money than getting the rights from Kazé to broadcast Stars with their dub. Again.... it isn't viable from a business POV.

3. TF1 & Mediawan are two lovable companies whose executives think seriously of the Sailor Moon fans and hate money. They care for nostalgia so they think producing a new dub for Stars with the old cast is a great idea.

Additionally, you have several streaming platforms that produce a French version only for streaming.
That happens in other countries as well. That happens when the distributors of the original dubs don't want to give the rights or they ask for a LOT of money. In such cases the platform produces a new dub.

Never really liked Sylvie Jacob voice for that role, I hoped they would ask Pailly for Cosmos. I’m not saying it’s bad but Pailly’s voice aged beautifully and would have been way better for Cosmos.

Agnes Gribe voiced Nicky Larson in Private Eyes, and her voice hadn't aged either.
Can’t wait to see her voicing Luna, Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto, Saturn… and more !

Let’s ask her to make more new characters because why not !!
- Neherenia
- Star Maker
- Aluminum Siren
- Kakyuu
- Galaxia
- and half of the phages too indeed.

That will be truly faithful to the spirit of other original French dub, 5 female actors doing all female characters, can’t wait !

Why open your mouth for a dubbing you don't listen to... You only watch it in Japanese with subtitles.
Anyway, even Crunchyroll acknowledged that their dub wasn't well received by Sailor Moon fans. They said so during a Twitch stream.
The employee clearly said: the controversial dubbing.

IIRC from earlier, Hideki Anno was in charge (or something) for the first part of Uranus and Neptune's transformation. This was the most similar part I could think of in Evangelion for that first spin.

For me it's it's mostly the feet that look simlilar.

Without subtitles.
Always a pleasure
I hope they fix the songs in the Kaze dub

For years, record selling artists who used their songs on animes like Naruto, Bleach and so on had no problems for the overseas licensing but somehow Miss. Naoko Takeuchi thinks she's above all of them and deserves loads sums of money for writing some songs back in the 90s.
She probably also thinks she deserves residuals on that Jennie song she did the cover art of
The woman can't draw for a living but holds herself on a pedestal as if she was the Queen who made the Shoujo genre :whee:

As for the Kaze dub, as 'controversial' as it may be to the fans, there is no reason for a new one.
Saint Seiya too had a very controversial dub for the Hades Junikyu - dub that apparently no one likes despite it having some good parts - and despite 3 of the legacy VAs (who are still alive) returned for the rest of the series, including several of the following series, the Junikyu never had a redub - because there is no use for it, and Saint Seiya, along with it's VF, is infinitely more well-loved and popular than Sailor Moon's VF.

Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, City Hunter etc. all had the OG voice actors return for the new adaptations, if the Sailor Moon VAs had to return they already had 3 occasions:
- The Stars dub
- The Crystal 1-2 dub
- The Etermos movies

It's not for a random new TV broadcast that they are going to fund a whole new dub, especially in the current economical climate, it's ridiculous.

Unlike the previous aforementioned series, the Sailor Moon dub is just meh.
Sure the other AB dubs had horrible moments but the VAs always manage to nail the most pivotal and emotional scenes and that's why they are all still loved today.

Sailor Moon's VF is just like Phillipe Ougouz's other pet project, Hokuto no Ken, a vestige of the past that is mostly remembered for it's horrible and laughable moments.
At least, Hokuto no Ken could be genuinely bonkers and funny at times hence it's cult status as a parody dub but Sailor Moon is just plain horrible.

Just look at this mess!

Palla Palla sounds like a 50 year old, Phillipe Ougouz is making weird, disgusting farting noises and while the attacks are kinda OK, the rest sounds like a fandub!
It's not the Kaze one which needs a redub.

Meanwhile the Kaze dub,

Genuinely wholesome moment between the girls ~

"Well, bye betches!"

"Who were those two?"

:luna:"Our new enemy claims to be after people with pure hearts."
:ami:"They also said something along the lines of the Talisman being within some of those pure hearts."
:artemis:"...And there is also the case of those 2 mysterious girls..."

:usagi:"Yet again, another battle is about to begin..."

Indeed, he was responsible (or parts-responsible) for a few of my all-time favourite :ami: Episodes! ::love::

Those are the smiles I just can't resist and which greatly contributed to me falling in Love with her so much in the first place:

Spoiler: show

Just put Tadano's (or Itoh's) way of drawing her hair on top, and we can call it a day.

#149 - The Mirror of Dreams! The Amazons' Last Stage

The Amazon Trio's last episode and Tamegai gives us stellar art.
While overall, the episode is pretty static with not much going on with the animation, Tamegai gives us tons and tons of very pretty, detailed and expressive art! ::love::

Unfortunately, that disgusting dark yellowish filter plagues the whole episode...

"It must be so nice to be as carefree as you... I really envy you all, those who are full of dreams..."

Expressions!
