I don't know it it's the same, but when the Disney Studios produced 2D animated features during Walt's years there used to be a similar effect made with light and a piece of ripple glass.
Do you mean the blue fairy using magic on a life less Pinocchio?

That was pretty insane stuff Disney did back then. It makes me wonder if the same effect was used in most of those 70s sfx stuff they did for commercials, bumpers, music videos, cartoons, etc.

Just look at those laser lights. :wow:

I made this post in another thread but i makes more sense here

I love when the anime does aesthetics like this. The buildings in the SuperS finale look so vast and detailed

I wanted to look for things in Mamoru's room but couldn't find much besides the stereo he had in the SuperS movie. Don't know why but I find those things attractive.

Bet he blasts that good obscure underground stuff like

No. Those laser lights coming from the Blue Fairy's wand were made with camera tricks, layouts, etc. :keke:

Love how the S movie goes for that realistic look. The one with the birds reminds me of Nat geographic

I was going to post images of the upscaled version of the Blu-ray available on Soapbox, but the pictures don't do justice to such beautiful images, so I've captured screenshots from the Italian DVDs. Images that look like authentic paintings from the Renaissance era.

It seems like they used acrylic or oil paint for these backgrounds. No watercolor at all. Incredible. How is it that they dedicate a museum to Takeuchi's bland illustrations, and all this art goes so unnoticed?

This one is on TOEI - they refuse to produce a proper HD scan of the show even, yet alone some art display, they most likely sold/get rid of all these materials anyway.
