I mean, true, but it's basically this again (but with less personality and less weird perspective/proportions)

I remember looking at this and thinking "this doesn't look like Sailor Moon." It's still weird to me that the franchise has such an entry, and would probably feel like that even if I never watched the characters in motion. The art itself clashes with what the 90s anime and the manga established.
Takahashi, on the other hand, feels more aligned with the franchise to me for some reason.
Tadano's Eternal feels like what the old anime would be on a short budget.
However, I like what animators seem to be doing to her character designers in all these teasers. You can tell there's passion put into this project.

Music is in charge of the same composer as Season 1-4 so music will be very similiar to what we had in Eternal. He said in his twitter that he was excited for this project ( Well he has been working in the same show for the last 10 years lol ) and took a picture in the recording studio saying that he wrote one of the best pieces for Cosmos so we will see... His soundtrack overall is ok. I like lots of tracks for the Crystal project but lots of others are pretty meh. I would say in every season there are 30% good tracks and 70% " ok " tracks.

I think we can expect something fun this time.
We survived the SuperS and Eternal movies, didn't we? Both were awful
The SuperS movie at least looks great, even if the story is a bit underwhelming.

There’s one element of the 90s anime that the reboot almost ignored. The still frames when a villain attacks and we see Sailor Moon in crazy dynamic perspectives trying to avoid getting hit. Would be cool to see that feature in Cosmos.

I actually don't mind this illustration much - the perspective is quite well done (Jupiter and Venus are good) and the poses are not bad, the composition is OK and coherent with everyone's hair flowing in the same direction though there's still weird stuff like Venus' S-E-X beads position making no sense and the Inners doing this weird pouty thing with their mouths...

The Cosmos one is quite bland - the composition is basic, the art uninteresting.
Mercury seems to be the best one currently in Cosmos though - they gave her a longer neck and longer hair flowing down her nape, she really looks great.
Venus too looks good, she's playing with her hair, her body pose is firm with her chest arched forward giving her a nice silhouette.
The 3 others are hot garbage :P

While I'm still bitter that they changed the design in SMC3, I had to admit that the anatomy and the dresses in SMC3 still look better than SME. There's almost no curve on the body in SME, and their hands and feets are too small compared with their wrists and ankles, to the point that I feel their skin would rip if they do intense activity.

Well you can't compare an official artwork to promote the show and be used during months in multiple stuff as merchandise, magazines, etc to a motion frame in the show. Usually the artwork will have much more time of work and will look better xD

I'm sorry but I can't understand how someone can see Akira Takahashi body proportions be better than Tadano's xD.
No human body looks like that...

When I say Akira's design, I mean that key visual, which shows his maximum capacity, not the design sheet done in rush. On the other hand, Tadano's key visual is not much better than her usual character design, except Mamoru's cover.

What matters to me here is a dynamic design that feels alive. Tadano‘s bodies are stiff and boring.

I like Tadano’s faces a lot more than Takahashi’s, that’s for certain. However there’s a certain way the body has a curve and flow to it (at least in that character design sheet) that makes it aesthetically pleasing. I don’t really think that it fits the Sailor Moon vibe, per se but they look more visually interesting in the design sheets at least.

The runtime is kinda of a red flag to me, Manga Stars's pace is very fast already and 80 minutes are not enough to cover the first 5 chapters without many cuts and the plot feeling too rushed. Honestly they should just have just made a series, or at least cut the pointless Animates(Papillon, Phi and Chi) and expand the roles of the core ones plus Lethe and Mnemosyne, saving precious time.

Honestly the only way to not make anyone upset was to make the movies at least 100 minutes, which is standard in the industry. I mean 80 minutes was at some point considered too short for a feature length movie. Why are they making it so condensed considering they use mostly stills and pan shots anyway...

I kinda like both. The second one has much prettier eyes and reminds of you of the 90's anime a lot. I like it. Doesn't look as lively as the top one.

The first one feels more springy or action like and with darker colors. I like how the hair looks. I hate the front of the skirt but I like how it looks from the back. Don't care for the eyes either.

I would have liked a comparison of both using Usagi in their Super forms.

My guess would be because of money they are able to put into the production. Not sure how much they have to stretch across the entire production but this could be a reason and they may have also removed "useless" scenes and worked things around to make some things make more sense...Just a guess though.

Considering one of the biggest issues with Eternal is it's very tv-ish pacing and trying to cover as much from the manga as possible a runtime that is probably going to truncate Stars and play around with adapting it is probably a good thing.

What I like in Takahashi’s designs is that his poses and lines are very dynamic, there is movement, lineart is bold, curves are strong. It’s very much mike HeartCatch Precure.

Tadano is sure pretty but characters seem to be just standing with flat bloody and no real expression. I really miss curves from hips or chest that Itoh introduced to the series (because Tadano never drew them very « sexy » or adult, this trend started from S).
