The blu ray is region free. You can purchase it from cd Japan all around the world. Someone will leak it on day 1 and that’s why this decision to not release it before here will make them lose money. Plus the blu ray comes with jp subtitles. It will take just a min to get a automatic translation. But I don’t care anymore. Less than a month to the release now.
The dialogue will be pretty the same with manga (or empty lines like: Usagi! Princess! No! Iyaaaaaaa!) :luna:

It used to be very common for Japanese people to upload stuff on trackers, but I think around 2012 Japan started taking stuff way more seriously and there were extensively covered in media cases of people uploading anime on trackers that got hefty jail-time there, so I guess it stopped around this time.
Just because it's become less common doesn't mean it's stopped. Japan has access to the same methods of avoiding the ire of the law as any other online dweller. It'd actually be much easier to upload an entire movie without getting in trouble than trying to film tiny little cam scenes in a theater. Cosmos might not be important enough for someone to care to leak it online once it's out, but it's silly to say that the entirety of Japan doesn't upload anything illegal.

I think the leaks would be hosted in China or bit torrent if ever.

So it would be available on nyaa.si on Christmas Day in BR quality… hopefully a team will work fast subtitles as well. I don’t want to watch it without them.

Yeah, you are right. I meant it more in a "it is very less common than it used to be". There were actual trackers dedicated to Asian DVDs where they uploaded the actual dvd iso files.

My forbidden peer-to-peer file transfer protocol is ready!! I don't care if Netflix does/doesn't have the distribution rights. :mischief: What's the big deal?

Lady Pen, Puh-lease!
Don't encourage all of the innocent minds on here to look into using such dark arts! Don't you know everyone here loves Sailor Moon (and the hime -sama, honor be on her name for eternity) and would never, ever, ever, ever, ever even think about using such a thing as a *gags* peer-to-peer!
Especially when instead we can just wait for months...maybe even years in the blessed silence while Toei ignores its fan base in the west.
By waiting, we are like martyrs.
Would you take this away from us?

They will be in less trouble if they upload it to Chinese servers.

I think Cosmos might be the only Crystal entry that I consider buying a bluray copy, because i waited for the anime adaptation of this for over 20 years now.

If Bluray or torrent-file - how will you watch it? On your tablet, beamer, tv, phone? Will you gather friends or watch it alone?

I was planning to watch it dubbed on TV with some friends and then subbed alone. But since it is unlikely we will get a dub version anytime soon I will watch it alone as soon as it is on the internet

Call my friends in other countries via discord and watch with them. Everyone will have to download the file into their computers before.

Honestly, I don't care enough about Cosmos to go through the trouble of pirating it. I'll just watch it once when it becomes available on streaming to get it over with.
I think it is probably better for you to just focus on stuff you enjoy about the franchise instead. When was the last time you said something nice about it?
