Can we talk about Venus being the one having more screen time while literally doing NOTHING as a senshi in both movies?

She is in the fight against Iron Mouse: does nothing.
She is in the fight against Aluminum Siren: does nothing
She is in the fight against Lead Crow: does nothing.

Toei come on... She is the only inner senshi she doesnt have her regular attack in the movies. The only sequence is with her being evil.

To me it's one of the worst aspects of the movies. She has a magic chain she can use to do anything at any direction. If i was the director I would have added at least a 5 second scene where she uses against Lead Crow to save Mars. But nah, her best attack in that scene is screaming for help.

Not even that... she even gets slapped by Uranus. LOL.
Hey now, her standing there and calling out for Sailor Moon is reminiscent of 90s Stars. The writers really went all out on the homeages.

I think if the last two arcs were a series we would have likely ended in a Nelke route, I think the Sailor Quartet would have been adapted out as they usurped the role of the Starlights in the manga which Naoko likely did to spite TOEI and Bandai for not approving her plans with Igarashi, TOEI is not interested in fleshing out Naoko's concepts even back in the day and I think they are just showing their disdain for Naoko's concepts even in the present by adapting it 1:1 and not fleshing out further the plot of the manga.

I understand about not posting here links to the movies, but thanks for trying anyway :). Fortunately I managed to download the whole movie from youtube streaming before they killed the video.

if anyone finds subtitles in srt format or something, I guess there is no problem posting that here?

Agree even though Otona is also made by Deen it looks cheaply made, not to Crystal 1-2 standards but its close backgrounds look extremely generic and other than fights the rest of th animation looks stiff, motionless and sometimes off-model.
If Toei can't even do a decent sequel for one of their most popular magical girl series domestically, there's really no hope for any future Sailor Moon remakes/sequels/etc. with them whatsoever. The fact that the pacing is pretty bad and it's an original story not based on any source material, says it all...

If she does something the movies would be made almost 2 hours long

I blame the 13 episodes format that is plaguing both anime and tv industry for that. Somehow they believe that Binge watching has made audience dumber and unable to watch more than 12/13 episode of the same show

Most anime shows these days are 12-13 episodes and work just fine. Toei are in most cases uncapable to write neat and tight narratives. their shows have always been mostly full of filler and product placement.

I don’t think episode count is the problem, Madoka has an AMAZING story in just 12 episodes. Toei’s issue is that they push merch first rather than story otona and the latest digimon movie are just an example.

We have every right to be impatient. Now I myself have never insulted anyone personally. But whatever happened to the whole we want our international fans to enjoy Crystal too mindset from Toei? Back when Crystal first started the first three seasons were easily accessible and readily available with subtitles in many different languages for international fans shortly after episodes were released in Japan. Then along came the Sailor Moon Eternal movies and that mindset changed. Even though the Eternal movies did end up going to Netflix for us international fans none of us were happy about the wait. Sailor Moon is a global icon, it’s not an obscure franchise that no one has heard of. Toei and Naoko need to pay more attention the international market cause us international fans will bring them even more money. Plus, we want to see these movies too. I don’t think any of us like or want to resort to watching these movies illegally but what else can we do when we’re not being treated on the same level as the Japanese fans?
The change likely started when they decided Eternal will be movies.

It isn't weird that anime studios allow TV anime to be released almost simultaneously internationally. However, this isn't so common for movies.

Unfortunately, international fans don't bring more money unless they buy merchandise or tickets for a movie. Other incomes (like streaming) tend to have fixed payments.

Otona Precure have the same problems as the latest Shojo " reboots/late sequels " like CCS Clear, Tokyo Mew Mew, etc... they are bland and BORING.
And these are not aimed at kids but adults who grew up with them so there's no point in making such a bland shows for grown up people to enjoy.
These shows not trying to attract new younger audience is one of the main reasons why these shows are so bland. If the company believed the audience could grow, they would put more effort.

They are just trying to milk the (limited) current audience who grow with these shows, so bland shows with minimun effort is their way.

Looking at Part 1's credits through that link and lol, they actually credited PNP under Supervision so it's both Takeuchi (Chief Supervisor) and her company listed here now.

This didn't happen with Eternal so it's pretty funny.
To update on this, I think I know what happened here.

Looked at the credits again and noticed for whatever reason, Osabu is not listed anywhere in these movies. It's weird because he was always credited as Supervisor for all of Crystal and then for Eternal, it was as Senior Producer but here he's just missing.

With a lot of magical girl series hitting their 20 year anniversaries soon, we’ll be seeing a lot more of this too.

Not making or adapting new content for the franchises is also a factor in the blandness and milking the shows. Sailor V should’ve had an anime adaptation with great effort and care in production for Sailor Moon. A La Mode should have been adapted for Tokyo Mew Mew. Don’t know why the Wedding peach spin-off Wedding Apple still hasn’t had a n anime adaptation announcement with the Mahou shoujo genre being all stale and stagnant right now. At least try to adapt some of these things.

So he's booted by Takeuchi? :P
