Yeah I think a lot of the nonsense criticism comes from this lol

I was floored when I went to watch Attack on Titan and checked the wait between the first and second seasons of the anime - the first came out in 2013, and the second only in 2017, because the production house wanted to wait for the manga to advance.

Adapting anime basing it strictly on the manga is the current standard. I don''t think it's perfect, but I really do prefer it than how they did it in the 80s/90s, filling up all anime with more filler than actual story because the mangakas couldn't keep up. I can't stand current anime that follow that trend even, like One Piece.
There are anime like Wedding Peach that would benefit from an adaptation closer to the manga as it is more fitting to the present day due to the lack of Age gap couples in the manga.

I don't really watch anime anymore that much (which is obvious). I pretty much just follow Sailor Moon mostly. I'm aware of the new ones that pop up here and there. I haven't seen a single episode of One Piece, Naruto, or things like Demon Slayer. I watched 1 episode of AOT.

Things are always jarring for me with anime as far as it's production since I have been out of the loop for a while. For the most part, the only time you can get me to come out of hibernation is if you mention an anime I grew up with is getting an adaptation.

If it isn't Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Tenchi Muyo, Ronin Warriors, Cutey Honey (or things of that sort)...I am kinda indifferent about newish anime unless I find it interesting overall.

No matter how terrible each previous adaptation could turn out of those classic ones I named, Ill always show up for the next premier of a new adaptation but I am satisfied without it too.

My personal desire is for Sailor Moon to have a different enemy if they decide to do another series in the future.

I'm a 90's kid so my heart is always with that style.

I only care about older franchises.

I don't mean to make you feel old, but One Piece and Naruto are both past their 25th anniversary already.
It's no sweat. I am old... (no grey hair though). I just know those shows used to be really popular for a good while and I still haven't watch a single episode. Time flies...25...

I don't even know the current Pokemon. I'm still stuck on the really old ones up to Mew II.

The last anime I remember looking at for a little while was the one about the children in an adoption home but it turned out to be a food processing farm for demons.

I can remember seeing many after that but I hear about their popularity (Demon Slayer):booze:

I think the reason is because they don't like the manga. So they are upset that Crystsal adapt it like the current standard .Why they also prefer the 90s anime ,and want something similar to it.

A lot of changes of older anime was because the manga was not finished.Thst they had to either stretch out to finished or make new plot entirely. It certainly in lot cases was not because of creativity.

That's also the case for Sailor Moon, I think? :)
That was the case for Sailor Moon, 90’s Sailor Moon.

I don’t know all the details, but Naoko Takeuchi was establishing herself as a reputable mangaka when she published the first chapter of Sailor V on RunRun. August 3, 1991. And then TOEI expressed interest in Sailor V and Naoko expanded the universe of Sailor V through Sailor Moon. And we had the 90’s anime. Naoko Takeuchi writing the manga, TOEI adapting it to the best of its ability.

When Crystermos was animated, the Sailor Moon/V manga were already completed.

It's funny that the manga was completed after the airing of the 90s anime ended. lol

The 90’s anime ended in February of 1997. Naoko kept writing the manga until March or April and the last volume of the “Sailor Moon” manga came out in April of 1997. She concluded “Sailor V“ in the same year, 1997. The last volume of “Sailor V’ was released in November. Then no more Sailor Moon.

TOEI gave us the reboot in 2014.

When the writer of the manga is the same as the illustrator, they will prefer the manga version, but when the writer is different there are chances that they prefer the anime version if they are the ones writing the anime version.

mh thats why i think most of 90s or 80s anime need reboot to adapt better to the manga but, i dont know this new times are strange too
maybe ranma will get a reboot, i compared to inuyasha, ranma differs much from the manga
until now the only reboot i didnt like much is the tokyo mew mew one, i like minto more like the manga
i like sailor moon crystal, rurounin kenshin and others
dosnt mean i didnt like much the 90s anime
