So... four inexperienced Senshis can defeat an Animamate but the Inners and Outers were incapable of doing it, being murdered in the process.

I agree it doesn't make sense from a narrative perspective. But to be fair, their "basic" form is the Eternal one. You can only go up from there and become stronger... b̶e̶f̶o̶r̶e̶ ̶s̶u̶f̶f̶e̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶a̶ ̶t̶e̶r̶r̶i̶b̶l̶e̶ ̶d̶e̶a̶t̶h̶

I just felt that I had to say it again but I think Naoko does not want to write new attacks herself because she is stressed when the 90s anime did not go her way.
She litteraly only had to pick 3 random English words next to each other to create a new attack spell, without even caring about the meaning (she already dropped tue ball about attack meaning at this stage, see Star Gentle Uterus hehe). That wouldn’t have been a very big effort…

It seems that she loses motivation when she gets upset, she seems to have joined the CLAMP quartet in being a Karen Mangaka when Sailor Moon became a success who likes to make fans and editors feel bad when things don't go their way but Takeuchi is worse than CLAMP since she lets her other work than the SM franchise go out of print.

I am happy that Arina Tanemura and Natsuki Takaya are not this.

No. The Sailor Quartet fukus are just like the Inners & Outers basic forms. The only thing they have in common with the eternal ones is the star gem on the tiara and bow front, and the shoulder pad. They lack some star ornaments, the skirts are different and the back bows should be around the hip and longer.

Now we know that Sailor Moon Crystal hasn't been consistent with those powers...lol.

Mercury Aqua Mist stopped Eudial's attack when Mars Snake Fire which is supposed to be more powerful didn't in Season III. Mars Snake Fire was later effective against an even more power witch energy blast.

I mean water does beat fire. Anyway Mars and Eudial never matched fire attacks. Eudial was hit with Snake Fire which propelled her into the woods she then retaliated with her own fire power overwhelming Mars and Jupiter.

Lady Pen, Puh-lease!
Of course they are better, because they are from the future!
The
!!!
Aren't you aware that everything in the future is better? Just how Sailor Moon Crystal is better because it is the future of the original series.

So I guess those Inners from the 30th century, while donning the original sailor suits, could still defeat their past selves in SuperS, according to the logic? lol

Actually one point who always bothered me in the manga, is that to the exception of Sailor Moon all power up for the others are most of the time useless. Look at the second arc for instance, they got their new "star" transformation and "attack" and still got each one after another kidnapped, same goes with the last arc where they're just totally useless with their "Eternal fuku" and are killed in few seconds...

Because Usagi should be the only one that shines in the manga and that is what Naoko wants.

Are they?

So... Nehellenia travelled to the future to look for useless minions??? What a waste of time and energy...

Are you sure they come from the future and not the present?

No, no! It makes perfect sense if you read the manga.
They are from the PAST placed there (for some reason) in the Amazon Rain Forest (?!!) to wait for someone specific to serve (whom no one knew was going to exist several millennia later and on the other side of the planet) but Nehelennia (somehow) found them and awakened them as her minions. *gasps for air* Then Sailor Moon restores them because surprise, asteroids have senshi too.
BUT (for reasons unexplained) had to wait until the someone they were waiting for needed them in the future.

So technically they were useless until the future when they suddenly will return (somehow) from being obscure and inexplicably go from being one note villains to secret soldiers to our last survivors and main POV for what is supposed to be the most pivotal moment in history... (yet we still know next to nothing about them and have zero emotional attachment)

Sure, they seem useless now and sure; they had no time to train (as far as we're made aware)...but now they're from the FUTURE-echo-echo.
So they must be more powerful than the women who have (supposedly) trained for years by this point and have actual planets backing their powers :booze:
Of course, they can somehow take down the most powerful of Galaxia's minions when even Sailor Moon cannot. Honestly, shame on you! You just can't understand the genius of Empress Naoko-Hime-Sama (all praise be to her name).

Of course, what really happened is that Naoko had wiped out every single character we care about at this point and Cosmos needed someone to monologue to...and conveniently she remembered the quartet had gotten knocked out but not cauldroned.
The only thing close to being as convoluted and nonsensical as their plot are their hairstyles.
Good grief. As excited as I was to see the quartet as senshi for completionist’s sake as a manga fan...they are such terribly written characters and it would have been so easy to fix...

Shhh! Don't bring logic into this argument! It always muddies the waters with silly things like facts, continuity, and common sense!

(in both senses of the word).

Goodness. The SM manga is great. It can help us practice our imagination skills to be more creative in our lives. :booze:

Yeaaaaah really loving all these theories trying to make sense of a story that was mostly written on a napkin in a Café La Durée de Channel in 1997 while Osabu was waiting for his Prince$$ outside

Joke aside I never thought exactly about the Quartet but I realize they don’t make any sense either, thank you for pointing this @saintfighteraqua
