The fandom in the mid-00s (as I recall it):
  • Worshipped the manga.
  • Thought of Minako as a copy of Usagi in the 90’s anime (Usagi 2.0), and, therefore, not interesting as a character.
  • Constantly reminded everyone that Sailor Venus was the leader of the inner senshi.
  • Was obsessed with Rei‘s distrust of men and Casablanca Memories. I remember Rei being viewed as this extremely special character that the 90’s anime completely destroyed.
  • Bashed the English dub.
  • Heavily criticized the breakup arc in Sailor Moon R (“Mamoru and Usagi are soulmates,“ I remember the comments).
  • Disliked filler episodes and arcs with a passion.
  • Viewed the Dream arc as one of the best manga arcs (if not the best).
  • Interpreted the Dream arc as Mamoru’s story (“it is his story because he holds the Golden Crystal,” I remember the comments).
  • Hated SuperS.
  • Believed that PGSM should not exist.
  • Was extremely hostile to PGSM fans.
  • Prayed every night and day for a faithful anime adaptation of the manga.

I know this is not official art, but I like it a lot. Imagine this would be the character design for the DK arc! It‘s cute, „age appropriate“, super faithful to Naoko‘s art, dynamic, has a retro-charme and is very versatile. It‘s bold and simple, works for funny moments, but also for serious and elegant ones.

And for those who like 3D animation - it would even work in 3D.

Here‘s more of this artist. She shows so much personality! I could even imagine a curvy Usagi with this style.

Sometimes your comments are... a legend. Anaesthetic is overrated.

I only have the first edition I bought in the second-hand market. A snip. I wouldn't pay a lot for the Eternal Edition knowing the crappy art of Naoko Takeuchi.
Even back then after reading the scans of the manga, after I was able to buy the second edition volumes of the manga equivalent to the 90s Sailor Stars (which I later got rid in a garage sale) buying all of the manga as a set seems to be not worth it.:O

I will lose more interest in the manga or I will be less likely buying the manga knowing that Crystal and the movies are a better alternative.

I didn’t change at all, my views remain the same:

As I have stated many times, I am:

(1) extremely happy that PGSM exists because it brings joy to many people and
(2) sincerely hope that the original English dub becomes officially available for those who love it and miss it.

Honestly, I'd rather take a first edition with the Tokyopop translation rather than unfinished art from the Eternal versions.

It's the japanese one. I know that the Shinsouban has corrected artwork, but it's still unfinished...and the Kanzenban is like the Shinsouban but bigger and expensive.

You're the first one in this forum to say Crystal is better than the manga :yay:
As a whole the manga is better because Crystal I & II are bad, really bad, but if we compare the art, angles and perspectives of the last three arcs to the ones of Crystal III-Eternal-Cosmos...even though they lack Takeuchi's touch, those three instalments look more professional.

I mean, if one day Kodansha release Crystal III, Eternal & Cosmos in anime comic format, I'm sure they will be better than volumes 5-10 of the manga.

I hate this scene in the Cosmos trailer. I understand they decided to not give her eyes to make it feel atmospheric but it just looks strange to me. So I tried to making an edit

Interesting. Her profile here is in the „outdated“ style. Once again, your correction makes it look so good. It‘s mostly really just small details
