As for that criticicsm towards Naoko, there might be various reasons she had to ask Osabu. Maybe she did it intentionally. Maybe Kon was embarassed to ask the author herself about it. You know Japanese people have some weird, at least from our perspective, social interactions as well as modesty over things we cannot understand.
