The fact that OG Sailor Moon was so animclimatic outside of the final battles was exactly why I wanted Crystal to do things differently. S1 tried this sometimes but the stiff, choppy animation made it difficult to appreciate. S3 was on the right track, though. Also this is a manga problem but did anyone get sick of every single final battle in the manga always having Sailor Moon face off against some evil blob of energy?

Oh well, Eternal isn’t bad at all. It just feels like all forms of this reboot have something that never quite hits the mark, even if they improve in other areas.

well in the final chapter it is all revealed they were just instances of chaos looking for the most powerful light

Not for sure if I remember correctly, (to lazy to go back and watch) but during Rei's arc, Palla Palla uses the spell to project an image of Tiger's Eye and Rei about to kiss, of course Rei, being the iconic Queen she is, easily disperses it with her scroll.

When she uses her scroll, a wave of fire surrounds it and she throws it at the mirror. Was this just for visual effect? I was under the impression that while Rei can communicate with fire and receive visions in her civilian form, she isn't able to summon/control flames unless she is Sailor Mars.

Usually, the scroll flashes, is charged with spiritual energy and released. In her Sailor form she is able to generate flames with her scroll .

It would be interesting if she could bend fire at lower levels in her civilian form but do the real damaging stuff when she transforms.

If there is a new Sailor Moon anime, I suspect it will be a new version of Dark Kingdom arc.

That arc is the start of Sailor Moon, so they can't really ignore it.

Hm, I wonder what special ability Ami and Minako retain. I know in PGSM she seemed to be able to communicate with water and Makoto listed to the forest or something to that effect.

In Crystal S2 in the Ami Episode she is able to feel the water trough spaces for example, know where is it located.

I think at the end the " superpower " of civilian Makoto is power force.

Ami: Brain + be able to feel the water.
Rei: Sensitive powers + her regular ofuda attack.
Makoto: Super strenght.
Minako: Gymnastic abilities of a super hero?

Also, I wonder if Jupiter Power Punching the rock to save Minako in Eternal has some reference to her move in the Sailor Moon arcade. In the game, her Lvl 2 Crystal ability is to lift a big boulder using her super strength.

I like how they really showed in Eternal how deadly a senshi physical hit could be, able to blow a huge rock into smithereens.

So cool! I still wish the side-stories were also adapted… they could have so much help to develop the characters and the story…

Yes they could make the pacing slower a bit, give us a lot of insight to the characters and also more funny moments. I still think they could have done as extra instead of these short commentaries for the blu ray of Eternal. It could have helped the sales a lot.

True, but if they'd put in the time and effort to animate them as anything more complex than a slideshow, the price of the blu-rays would be even more obscene...
