Christ, Dragon Ball is almost half their overseas stuff in it's own. RIP Toriyama.

Its ironic SM is less profitable overseas when shows similar to it like Miraculous are, and the West love SM probably the most of all MG characters.

I will also say this, SM being g #4 domestically is surprising, and encouraging for us potentially getting another anime in the future

But can you tell that by just looking at the video games? I'm sure that a Sailor Moon videogame would sell a lot more than a Totally Spies videogame and yet Totally Spies is going to have a videogame and Sailor Moon is not. Why is this? I doubt that lack of sales is the reason.

If they remastered and officially released Another Story it might do well.

But a full on 3D SM game if done right would make bank

Very naive and unrealistic especially in this day and age where high quality games from popular IPs can't even turn profit and barely break even. Game industry is in a big trouble and publishers recently axed most of their more risky stuff to focus on project that guarantee success.

Toei basically just produces installments of established IP at this point, so Sailor Moon's being their 4th highest earner domestically means we will almost certainly be seeing a new anime project within the next five years.
Looking forward to it - whatever it is - can’t be worse than the reboot. Fortunately, the 1:1 thing is over now.

Wouldn't IP people like+good gameplay acheive that?

It has been one year since Cosmos premiered in Japan, and yet there's no announcement of a international release even though dubbing is already happening at least in some territories.
I would really like to know what's happening to the IP right now, because it sounds really weird.
