When I heard a planner from Myu was behind the ice skating direction I couldn't help but wonder if this was some tangent Myu had decided to take...

Prism on Ice has been pushed back to next year, once again due to COVID.

There's currently a resurge of cases in the country, hence that's understandable.

The Olympics is still kept going ahead ATM, tho, so it's no longer a guiding sign for the show now. lol

Once again, the show has been pushed back another year. Third time's a charm? Presumably this delay was to give Evgenia a chance to recover (she just retired from competitive skating due to back injuries), so hopefully nothing else happens between now and next June to further delay or cancel this show.

It’s a strange statement, especially seeing as Coronavirus is starting to blow over here in Japan. I wonder if Evgenia Medvedeva‘s Russian background has anything to with it? Obviously not her fault but I can imagine a backlash, especially with Naoko releasing those anti-war comments a few months prior.

The Crystal voice cast was supposed to do the character voices for the show, and since I doubt they were going to do that live, I wonder if they had already recorded their lines for it?

I’m incredibly bummed considering how much effort was going into this (the new art, amazing talent they hired, ANZA!!!), you could tell it was meant to be something special.

It can. Japan was opened to tourists from all countries since November last year, and is planning to drop the last few remaining restrictions (like limits on maximum amount of people in public events) this spring. Whatever is the reason for cancelling the show, it has nothing to do with covid.
