Who do you think won? I personally think Sailor Moon won, not just because I like her show better, but because a lot(if not most) of Madoka's lines were...kind of wrong? And if not, they were hypocritical. Like, going through them, you'll see what I mean:
"Your whole group of Sailor Scouts are just a bunch of rookies!" This is technically true in a sense, but also wrong since they're reincarnated soldiers, and technically have experience from their past lives. Granted, they don't remember their past lives at first, but still. But even then, Minako has been at this for a while, she is hardly a rookie. Also, it's really hypocritical since she and Sayaka were also rookie Magical Girls at first. In the current timeline she spends most of the episodes as a muggle, so...
"Nobody even watches your show anymore, it's pathetic, you're the poster girl for 'OMG, that's my aesthetic!'" I know this is just a cheap jab and one of those things that rap battle characters are "supposed" to say, but Sailor Moon is still endlessly more popular than PMMM will ever be. I'm sure tons more people watch Sailor Moon more than Madoka, as this entire site attests to. And while there are a lot of aesthetics for Sailor Moon, since when was this a bad thing? If anything, this is proof that the show is NOT pathetic and that millions of people watch--and like--it, meaning that Madoka contradicts herself with this line.
"At least my show is real, you can't keep anyone dead!" Well, your show didn't keep anyone dead either, Madoka, since instead of becoming witches and/or being killed by a Magical Girl in a battle they join Madoka in the afterlife, which is still technically death, but still.
"I'd say transform into a good rapper, but that'd take too long!" This line I actually really liked because it made me snicker, but I feel like people forget that Sailor Moon's transformations DON'T take as long in real time? People always ask "Why don't the villains attack while they're transforming?" But aside from the fact that they don't always transform in front of the villains, the transformations only take about a second in real time. The fancy movements we're seeing are likely happening in super speed lol. Oh, and Madoka's transformations are also elaborate and sometimes just as long as Sailor Moon ones, so this point is moot.
"You've got no right to come and diss Homura's love for me, especially when your dub kept Uranus and Neptune PG!" This line...I actually really liked! It's actually my favorite line from Madoka in this battle.
"With your endless filler, games, and musicals for cheap clout, you've got your own Law of Cycle of constantly selling out!" This line is really clever and I like it, too, but it kind of defeats the purpose of her own previous line. "Nobody even watches your show anymore, it's pathetic!" If no one watched the show, then where would we get the vast amount of spinoffs in other mediums that we did? Of course not! And Crystal's and Eternal's existences prove that Sailor Moon is still going strong even to this day.
Other than that, I love this rap battle a lot, it's one of my favorite rap battles to this day, simply because it includes one of my favorite fictional characters(Sailor Moon)! It's overall really well-made. I know it sounds like I'm taking it too seriously but I just feel like they didn't put as much thought into Madoka's lines, which is a let-down. But it's sadly not uncommon.
What do you think? Who do you think won, and why? What was your favorite and least favorite line from each of them? I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
